What: A sleepover!
Warnings: None, and there probably won't be any. Will update if necessary.

[ Axel, Sora, the Riku Replica, Ventus, and both Roxases--they've all been notified by text that Naminé's hosting a sleepover. (Riku, she'd just told herself.) It had been Sora's idea, but Naminé liked it well enough. She's actually not sure what a sleepover entails, but she knows lots of snacks are involved.

Which is why there's a huge variety lain out in the main room of Naminé's temple. There are tons of pillows and blankets, too, enough to make pillow forts--but someone would have to suggest the idea for Naminé to even consider it. There are movies, too, but maybe someone should bring their own, if they have any...

In any case, Naminé's excited (if somewhat nervous, funnily enough) to get the night started. ]

There's kids that are gods! There's even animal gods. You don't have to be an adult to be a god, and you don't need to do the things adults do. If you read books, some of the gods didn't even take their own jobs seriously.

[Who needs responsibility when you're an all mighty being?

Yes! Exactly that. That's my point. It doesn't matter how old you are, because you're a god. You don't have to worry about taxes, or marriage, or kids, or buying a house. I mean, they gave you a house when you got here anyway, right?

[Axel waves one hand in a grand, vague gesture.]

So, like... you get to do whatever. Forever. Kind of a nice gig if you ask me.

[... Only Axel has ever gotten Roxas into these kinds of conversations. Everyone else was matter of fact, or they hid things. Axel... was something else. He sighs before thinking over the last parts.]

I don't think I'd wanna do it forever.

[Axel sighs, straightening up and crossing his arms.]

I guess I wouldn't mind it, but what do I know? I can't remember what I used to do.

[And being his own boss doesn't sound so bad. Sure, Pippa's okay, and so's Ayumu, but he's still jumping when someone else says boo. There's not a lot of time to just kick back and relax.

Maybe it'll be better once he settles in.]

[That... Roxas looks at Axel curiously.]

... No, I don't think you'd like being a god. There's... a lot more to it than just being a boss to someone... But I don't really want to talk about it... It's complicated.

Hey, I wouldn't be in it to be somebody else's boss. It'd be kind of nice to get to call the shots for myself, though, you know?

[He shrugs, and reaches up to scratch the back of his neck absently.]

Sure, my goddess is nice, but I've still got to do what she says.

I don't think I want to order my shinki around. He's nice, and he's really happy that I can cook.

[So Roxas can cook, huh. Axel puts him down on the mental list of people to bother if his swiping food strategy ever really starts to fall through, and grins.]

Who's your shinki, anyway?

His name's Raichi! Which.... I had to set up a tent outside of my temple since he can't come in...

Wait. You're kidding me. Uncomfortable feeling whenever he tries to come in? Can't stay for long, steps in and has to go right back out, that kind of thing?

[Axel's mouth drops open.]

That happened to me!

.... A-actually... He got thrown into the temple because his god left... And then dragged outside by a hunting dog ghost...

[Nervously laughs.] Artemis is pretty anti-men when it comes to some things...

Dog ghosts. Okay, that didn't happen to me. Aphrodite's place turns out to not be real fond of men either, though.

[He puts one hand on his hip, thinking.]

We fixed it with this ritual thing to dedicate me to her. See, what I'm guessing is that because she didn't pick me and I didn't pick her, it kind of didn't click, you know?

So I had to let the place know that, hey, I was supposed to be there. Maybe that's what you and Raichi need.

I guess my place was just... a lot more anti-guys than that one?

[Hm... Might that work?]

But what kind of ritual would I need to do? Do I need special stuff for it?

Like I said, mine was for Aphrodite. There wasn't that much special stuff, just an apple. You'll probably need different stuff for yours, though. [He taps his chin, scowling in thought. Artemis, huh.]

Maybe arrows or something? Artemis likes hunting, right?

Anyway, you can probably check with some of the wisdom gods to see if they'll let you use their library and come up with something useful. That's what I did.

Aphrodite is the goddess of love... so why doesn't she like men in her temple?

[That's really an odd thing. Wasn't she the one who liked being with many different men? That's what it said in the books... Roxas could never be like her, so he's happy he got Artemis. Besides, Sora would be better for a goddess of love than he ever would be.]

An arrow would work... it'd be easier than trying to use an animal, and I don't think the deer like Raichi much. Oh! You ever seen a deer before?

Beats me. Did she ever get jilted really bad?

[Axel shrugs it off -- who knows, really? Maybe it's Pippa, she does seem to like things to be really proper, so she could have some kind of hang-up about men and women living together. Subconsciously. Or something.]

-- Anyway, I don't know. If I've ever seen a deer, that is.

[He's got a mental image that goes with the word, deer, but it could've come out of a book. They're big, right? Four feet, little tail tuft, sort of horse shaped except with antlers. Also, spots.]

You've got them at your temple?

A few times. She was married to Hephaestus, but she liked Aries more. But... they're both her brothers, so I don't know how that works out... The Greek gods are really weird.... she mostly cursed female worshipers who said they were better than her in some way.

[Gods make no sense. At least Artemis was pretty straightforward about everything.]

Yup. They're silver with gold antlers. The stags are. The does are more white than silver. They look like they do in the stories. If you come over, you can see them! Sora got really excited when he saw them, and he even got to pet one.

... Sounds nice. I can see the deer without getting dragged out by demon dogs, right?

[Not that he'd mind trying another ritual -- the first one was pretty painless, just kind of weird and embarrassing -- but he's not sure if doing something like that would screw up his ability to go into Pippa's temple, and that'd be a real waste of all the effort getting him in there in the first place.]

Yeah! You just can't come into the house. Artemis didn't mind hunters in her woods, but her temple is sacred.

[But... if he wants to spend more time with Axel, Roxas will see if there's a way to let his friend into the house. It is a comfortable place, and Sora seems to like spending nights there.

Besides, Aphrodite and Artemis are siblings... there should be no conflict. Hopefully?]

And if I ever want to stay over at your place, I'll bring a tent. You know, we could camp out. Build a fire and roast marshmallows or something.

[Which avoids the possible problems of him trying to walk into another temple that doesn't want him there. Those dogs sound really unpleasant to get dragged around by.]

I got a patio that has a fire-pit, so that'd work! Though I'll bring out blankets. It's kinda cold around my temple because of the forest.

[They're very nice and comfortable blankets. Axel can even take one home.]
