[open] through the eye of the storm with a silver lining
Who: Shun and you! (+ prompts for anyone with plans)
When: The first week of August
Where: A: Nekhbet's Temple and general vicinity, B: Calico Cat Cafe, C: The Heavens' library
What: Early August catchall, plus Shun deals with adorable possessed plush birds, an excess of cats, and the library's radical new idea of actually having sort of a filing system, maybe, one day.
[A: Nekhbet's Temple, day, August 3rd onwards]
[Shun thought the possessed pillows were bad enough. Even if the spirits had been happy to take a punching if it meant they could keep hanging around, they didn't know when enough was enough, and Shun had been more than happy to see them leave the temple.
Unfortunately, instead of having a pile of pillows greeting him in the loungeroom the next few mornings, Shun has four very big, very round, and very cute bird plushies that he forgot to get rid of after winning them at Tanabata bouncing all over the couches. And the kitchen. And, eventually, out the door, once one of them manages to score a lucky bounce on the doorknob.
Anyone in the vicinity of the temple might witness some very concerned-looking vultures, and also said large bird plushies bouncing around merrily on the grassy plain in front of Shun's temple. He doesn't actually come out himself until a few of the bouncing plushies decide to adorably menace any passerby, looking like he's already utterly done with this month a few days into it. He should probably just be grateful that the one he gave to Fubuki managed to escape getting possessed.]
Should've gotten rid of them sooner. [One of the plushies makes an impressive bound for the top of his head, but he catches it before it gets there.]
--
[B: Calico Cat Cafe, afternoon to early evening of the 3rd or 5th]
[Despite the huge amount of pressure Shun puts on himself to get as much as he possibly can done in the space of a day, he does still hold down his job at the cat cafe on the Near Shore - not that it's particularly difficult when his job description is basically cat maintenance and maintenance maintenance. People who never complain about the more disgusting parts of the work are few and far between, and Shun is more than content with doing all of that and then some in silence (and peace and quiet, when the rest of the employees forget he's there).
There's been an influx of cats from a nearby shelter recently, though, and Shun has been put to the task of building a rather large and fancy cat tower donated by some regular customers. While the rest of the customer service staff are hanging out by the door or around the cafe, taking orders or offering people free cat ears to encourage more people to come and take a look at the new cats, Shun is down the back, screwing a post into another section of the base.
He's most certainly not alone in this endeavour, because about a dozen of the cats have gathered around to crawl all over the half-built cat tower, and occasionally him as well. Shun just keeps working as if there isn't a cat standing on his curved back or looking out from his shoulder upon its cafe kingdom, but if anyone else happens to get close to the area, Shun immediately levels them with a wary glare, not least to make sure they don't have any cat ears with them. He's managed to escape the scourge so far, but after a moment or two, he nods to the cats on the tower.]
If you want them anywhere but this post, you're going to have to put some effort into it.
--
[C: Heaven's Library, evenings to late]
[It seems like time to at least try to brush himself up on the ghost tales he only remembers bits and pieces of, so Shun manages to find the time to get himself to the library most evenings. Despite the new staff, trying to make the place any kind of organised is a huge endeavour, and he doubts he's going to find anything without a good, long time to look things over. Still, most easy things aren't worth doing.
With one very general book on monster mythology under one arm, Shun browses the shelves largely in silence. It's only when he encounters other people that he speaks, holding up the book.]
If you've seen anything about the kinds of spirits that have been active recently, I've been looking for a while.

Closed to Naoto, backdated to morning July 29th, warning for murderplot + related gross discussion
While he texted her a description and general location of his temple, he's standing out by the door just to make sure she finds it. It basically looks like a giant hill with some windows and a door in it, so it's not like it's easy to miss, but the vultures in the garden to the side can be a bit leery about visitors sometimes.]

I appreciate you agreeing to meet with me.

Downstairs. One of my shinki knows about this, but the other I can't trust won't try to get involved, and he's not experienced enough that I can risk it.

Trying to do some research on spirits?
[Just try to ignore the ghost peering over his shoulder, Shun. Toushirou doesn't even seem to be all that concerned about it as his eyes drop back down to the book as he waves the ghost away.]
no subject
Trying. This place is still disorganised as hell. I'll be lucky if I find two books on the subject.
[And yet he hasn't bothered going to a Near Shore library because he figures one in the Heavens would have to have more accurate information on spirits.]
no subject
[But he can't really fault Shun if that's his reasoning.]
There are several different types. Poltergeists are usually common.
[He flips a page.] Has the library always been this disorganized?

But his walkthrough of the bookshelves- still more disorganized than he'd really like- is interrupted when Shun talks to him.]
The ones that have started haunting everything? Are those spirits of the objects or poltergeists?
no subject
Could be both, depending on what the items are. And then there's the ones that are coming out at sunset and endangering people on the Near Shore.
[That gets a much more grave note out of him, because it's a lot bigger of a worry than something like getting attacked by pillows.]
I would've known the legends better a while ago, but I've forgotten most of the details.
no subject
Izuku tilts his head as he considers the question.]
That's more than I do. Most of the stories at home are about superpowers, so even if there were ghosts, we'd probably chalk it up to a quirk that went haywire.
[Hm... But he'll also step away from the shelves for now, letting Shun see the titles of them.]
I think these are about hauntings?

She might also be peering around to make sure she's not upsetting any of his grumpy birds by lingering here for too long.
Either way, it's clear from her bright smile and the bounce in her step that she's looking forward to this morning's visit with Shun. ]

Huh? Like the ones inside things?

Those and the ones that are coming out around sunset. You must be more familiar with the lore than I am anyway to have made that post about it.

Closed to Yukine and Fubuki, August 4th
threatpromise to get Yukine involved when it came to Fubuki's terrible borderlines, but he's finally managed to set something up. Now it's just a matter of getting it done, and for now, that means waiting for Yukine to turn up. Since he has been to the temple once before, Shun's choosing to wait for him on one of the further-reaching branches of the trees walling his garden, occasionally dropping himself down backwards and curling back up to grab the branch in a fit of restlessness.A side-effect of this position is that it also means a bunch of vultures have gathered on the nearby branches to observe any passerby, but it can't be that disconcerting. Probably.]
no subject
Yukine always strives to be early! If Kurosaki is restless, that's his own fault. In fact, from that previous experience, Yukine is aware that he'll be seen from a distance away. So coming up to the temple he steps lively, and glancing up sees the rather unfortunate number of vultures perched in the trees. And subsequently sees Kurosaki-sama in one tree, doing ... something. Weird. (He has long given up hope on not using that word at least once a day.)
Stopping under the tree he looks up at him.]

[This fucking library is going to be organized if it kills him.]
[Of course, it's for his own benefit as well, with a variety of books on either shinki magic or to do with crime scene investigation piled up nearby. When he hears Shun approach him, he makes the barest effort to glance over at the other.]
....There's mythologies on items that have existed for a long time becoming demons, aren't there?
no subject
That's mostly what I'm looking for, but it seems like some of them were just possessed instead of becoming demons themselves. And then there's the ones that have been coming out around sunset, which are a hell of a lot worse.
[At least most of the item demons and possessions are mischievous more than anything. The same can't be said for what comes out at sunset.]

Hey! Is that your...s?
[ Goku doesn't know how to finish the thought, since he's not sure what he's looking at. A fat bird thing? A flying pillow? ]
no subject
Until I get rid of them. I know who I'm giving them to, I've just been too busy to get it done. [There's a streak of annoyance to his tone, and he looks over Goku with a rather wary air, as if trying to glean more about him.]
I remember you. Ren mentioned he had another shinki after I told him we snuck into his kitchen.

A, Aug 6th
Still, he's here, despite not really feeling like actually doing anything today (but also feeling like it might be relaxing to beat the crap out of something). He takes his time making his way through the flowers leading up to Shun's temple (since this is actually where he'd like to spend the afternoon), but it isn't a very long trip. Soon enough, he emerges from the trees with his hand already raised to wave at Shun--
--only for a bouncing bird toy to bounce right up into his face. Ren staggers backward half a step, somehow manages to trip over nothing, and ends up on the ground with a sore tailbone and a somewhat dazed expression as he blinks up at the sky.]
no subject
It's the hawk that bounces itself up into Ren's face, and Shun has to raise a hand to his own face from inside the temple as that somehow manages to knock Ren over. However, it might also mean there's something else at play here, so Shun keeps the reaction to himself as he heads out and gives the hawk plush a sharp glare. It takes the hint and retreats, to the suspicious stares of multiple vultures, and Shun offers a hand to help Ren up.]
You must be pretty distracted to have missed that. [He would go on, but the owl plush picks this exact time to roll over and bounce itself gently onto Ren's chest, flopping forwards with the exertion like it didn't sign up for this. Who are you, new person the possessing spirit hasn't bounced on before.]
