July Training
Who: Everyone
What: Information and Training
When: August 5
Where: Bishamon's temple, the Far Shore
Summary: Training and informational sessions for newly arrived gods (although there's none this time) and shinki

The product of many meetings and recommendations, at last it has taken shape. On this day, in anticipation of the new arrivals who appear in a recognized pattern, Heaven has partnered with the new gods and shinki to organize a very helpful informational reception.
The shinki arriving at heaven's meeting hall are, should they allow it, guided kindly towards Bishamon's temple. And in that vast complex they are brought to a traditional-style dojo.
Here the newly arrived gods are gathered, so finding their partner is more simple. The gods and shinki are free to take their time during this day to learn about the aspects of their new life from Amaterasu's shinki, or from the many veteran new god and shinki volunteers.

God Training
- Bishamon herself, as well as Amaterasu's ever-present shinki and any volunteering gods, will be the foremost source of information regarding being a god and what is expected of them, such as prayers. It is encouraged that gods group up together to practice what they've learned and discuss their ideologies.
Newly arrived gods are still expected to communicate to their shinki the information* they themselves get oriented with when they arrive.
Shinki Training
- Various volunteers are stationed around the building, passing out helpful informational pamphlets. There are many shinki, including Bishamon's and Amaterasu's, who will be more than happy to train in using the borderline and some of the basics of what is expected of a shinki. It is encouraged that shinki group up together to practice what they've learned and discuss their ideologies.
Bishamon's lead shinki Kazuma offers a lecture to new arrivals that will thoroughly cover some essential points about teamwork with both shinki and other gods.
Physical Training
- The dojo is stocked with a wide variety of practice weapons, traditional and modern. There are volunteers here as well, willing to assist in basic training. (Or even more advanced sparring, depending on the volunteer.) Essential for gods who, for example, find themselves with a sword shinki but are at risk of cutting off their own toes.
Also useful for veteran new gods wishing to train with their current partner shinki.
Rest and Refreshments
- There is a garden off the dojo that is free to be used for rest and conversation.
Should anyone wander outside the designated area, some shinki of Bishamon's will attach themselves to them and not leave them be until they return to the dojo.
There is a refreshments table provided. It is covered with light snacks and various kinds of hydrating drinks. There is a little sitting area set up for people to relax in after they have finished their training or if they're just taking a quick break to cool down. Even hand towels are provided by Bishamon's helpful shinki. The Heavens wants everyone to stay in good condition!

In Summary:
- Get all the information you can handle
- Veteran new gods and shinki are welcome to volunteer showing the ropes
- Get in some training
- Don't get dehydrated
- Spectate if you want
- Have fun~

[So this is what it's like to be dead.
Omi isn't sure how to feel about this, or if he feels anything at all besides a strange sense of detachment and apathy. Somehow, it just doesn't feel like it matters that much that he's gone.
He's read through the pamphlet he was given, taking particular discomfort at a couple of the points made that he says nothing about. His god will come find him, it says. And in the meantime, he should learn how to make a borderline. That's an easy thing to say, but it makes him anxious to lack that bond. He isn't sure why; he just feels lost and alone.
It won't do to show such melancholy, though. No one likes a depressing person. So he musters a friendly smile and uncertainly approaches the nearest person he sees.]
Hi. I'm Omi... are you new here too?
physical training
[Technically, this sounds like it's meant to be a place for the gods of the world. Omi is more drawn to it than to the refreshments table, however, and so peers through the doorway to watch the sparring. After a minute or so, he ventures inside towards one of the occupants.]
Excuse me? Are shinki allowed to train here too?
wildcard
[Hit me up!]

Things all fell into place. Why he never felt like be belonged anywhere. Why he had a natural distrust of people in general. Why Crawford and Schuldig took an interest in him. Why Tot...
And then there's Bombay. At least Nagi was correct in his first assessment: Omi didn't trust him. Certainly not for a while. Though for a Weiss, he dealt with his situation fairly level-headedly, which is not something Nagi would expect from that team. He still thinks the guy is much too wrapped up in sentiment and unnecessary attachments, a thought that worries him a little, now that the tables have turned.
Nagi isn't like Schuldig. He doesn't tolerate being invaded by other people's thoughts and feelings. His mind is always clear, precise and meticulous, like Crawford's.
He goes to look for him nevertheless, perhaps out of a strange sense of loyalty, if he must give it a name. ]
No, [ he answers, plainly. ]
I'm Naoe Nagi. Your god.
no subject
He'd hoped, but he hadn't realized-- hadn't expected-- that he'd be meeting his god so soon. It's a relief, and his face brightens instantly with delight.]
Really! I'm so glad-- I'm Tsukiyono Omi. It's nice to meet you. I look forward to working with you!
[The boy seems pretty reserved and stoic, but Omi isn't going to let that concern him yet. For now, he's just going to be happy that he's found where he belongs.]
no subject
[ It's a little disarming to be so happily met. Especially since Bombay's -- Omi's -- death is still so fresh in his mind. But if he harks back to when he first arrived as a shinki, he does know that the 'being dead' part did not bother him at all. He figured it was because he couldn't remember it. But in retrospect, he thinks he'd probably react just the same even if he did. He understands now that most people are not like him, though.
After his time spent with Omi, he does know that smiles come easily for him. They don't always reflect what he's really thinking on the inside. ]
..okay, [ he says. He doesn't smile back. But he does nod slightly, with a more personable air than he'd show a stranger. It's a minute detail though, that might be overshadowed by his overall calmness. ]
What are you working on? [ He nods at the pamphlet in his hand. ]

That's great! It looks so interesting-- I don't even know where to start.
[An introduction might be a polite start, he belatedly realizes, and offers a sheepish grin.]
I'm Omi Tsukiyono, a new shinki here. It's nice to meet you!
no subject
[But he does give Omi a smile.]

So when someone approaches to ask the question Yosuke's been pondering for a while, he jumps a bit - but not in a bad way.]
Dude, that's what I wanna know! [He grins, glancing back at the assorted weapons longingly.] I mean, wouldn't it be cool to try out some of those? Just look at those swords!
no subject
They do look pretty cool... I wonder if they can even tell whether someone is a god or shinki. We all look the same to me? Maybe we should just try it!

[The response is automatic; Hakkai's eyebrows lift as he turns towards the familiar young man, but it's a careful gesture, contained.
Omi's back. He's back, and he's a shinki. It's odd how often that seems to happen, he thinks to himself, and offers a practiced and insincere small smile.]
Anyone is welcome to use the equipment if they're here for training; Bishamon won't mind. Do you know what you'd be interested in trying?
[He starts towards the small weapon table as he speaks. Omi had been a computer expert before. As for weapons -- Hakkai has no idea. He'll try something simple, first. Knives are usually a safe guess.]
I'm Cho Hakkai, by the way. I assume you're new.
no subject
Y-yeah... I am. Omi Tsukiyono-- it's nice to meet you. I'm not sure what to try first! What would you recommend?

[Sakon pauses in the middle of folding one of the pamphlets into a paper airplane and lets the words sink in. When they do, he smiles brightly.]
Nope! I'm just here to hang out! So you're new? Having fun? Found your god yet?

hello my friend we meet again~
It's this shinki Omi approaches as Ron had left him a moment to get a drink. He seems momentarily surprised but before he can speak, his god comes to his rescue. Now there's another familiar face he hadn't expected to see talking to his shinki. ]
His name's Noel. He's with me so he's fairly new. Just arrived then?

Oh... Yeah, I am. Omi Tsukiyono; it's nice to meet you both.

No! Zeno is old.
[With a serene smile, he wonders how Omi will take the o-word in application to his clear youthfulness.
Also behind that serene smile? The cruelty of killing Omi the god, and reincarnating him here as someone's shinki. If it hadn't put his wife back into his arms, Zeno would seriously consider 'heaven' a grave misnomer.]
Nor is Zeno a shinki. Zeno just comes to see what the shinki do.

I see... Why do shinki interest you? That is, if it's okay to ask.

It's nice to meet you, Goku! I'm Omi. Two weeks seems like a period that you would still know a lot more than I do! Can you tell me what it's like here? Do you like it?
[Omi certainly hopes so. It isn't like there's any going elsewhere.]

Behind him, there's a sizzling hiss as the joint of the dummy he's struck a moment before melts the rest of the way through and an arm pops off, falling to the ground with a waft of smoke. Yata ignores it. ]
Eh? They better be. No one's kicked me out yet.
no subject
He also picks up from that answer that he's talking to another shinki, which is in and of itself a reassurance. Maybe there were other shinki here training too and he just doesn't realize it because they don't look any different from gods on the outside.
He flashes a grin, a hint of admiration in his eyes.]

[Ken's heard it said by some of the others that this whole business with the training hall and the little So-You've-Just-been-Killed leaflets are much better than what they had for newcomers before, which was precisely nothing. Technically, he guesses that's correct, in much the same way that a book makes a better umbrella than nothing at all. There are better ways, however, to greet a newcomer than by throwing a ton of Required Reading at them. This isn't school.
[They really shouldn't be dragging kids here.]
Hey.
[Which is all the warning Ken's going to give this boy, who looks way too young to have been up to anything that should have dragged him here, before reaching out for the leaflet in his hands and tugging it down. Hey, you can read that later. There'll be plenty of time for it. We're both dead, right?]
There's not gonna be a test.
no subject
[There's a voice nearby. It sounds directed at him. He looks up just in time to see a hand tugging the pamphlet down to look him in the eyes. Not a test?
Okay, maybe not in the strictest sense, but it's important to be good as a shinki to please your god, isn't it? It's important to be valuable. Pleasing. To that end, there is a test. It's called reality.
That's how it feels to Omi, at least. But he recognizes the icebreaker for what it is and ducks his head with an amiable smile.]
Sorry. I guess I was a little absorbed. Can I...
[A thought occurs to Omi then and he sits up, hopeful and anxious. Of course. That would make perfect sense, wouldn't it? Why this friendly guy with the warm aura has approached, why he's assuring him there's no test. He has Omi's full attention now.]
Are you my god?
[Please say yes.]

[The clothing is the giveaway, of course, or the first of them. Yoon doesn't dress like that, he doesn't quite style his hair like that, and he doesn't look distractedly over Kija like he has absolutely no idea what to make of him like that when he could be looking exasperated and infuriated and vaguely terrified all at once. There has to be something he can do about that, if memories could be regained--
[Later. Kija pushes the thought aside. He has, after all, been staring at this boy - at a dead man inexplicably made whole again - for altogether too long. Most likely that is starting to tell.]
Omi? You're back?
[Some day, Kija really will figure out how to handle newcomers. He will know exactly what to say and what not to; how much he can betray, and what to leave unsaid. Some day, he will manage it.
[Today is not going to be that day either.]
no subject
[Now that's a question he never, ever expected to hear. Back?]
I've been here before?
[He stares at the other boy in utter confusion. He clearly knows his name, but for the life of him, Omi cannot find even a trace of familiarity for him. He's a complete stranger.
This shouldn't be possible, should it?]
