Summary: Training and informational sessions for newly arrived gods (although there's none this time) and shinki



The product of many meetings and recommendations, at last it has taken shape. On this day, in anticipation of the new arrivals who appear in a recognized pattern, Heaven has partnered with the new gods and shinki to organize a very helpful informational reception.

The shinki arriving at heaven's meeting hall are, should they allow it, guided kindly towards Bishamon's temple. And in that vast complex they are brought to a traditional-style dojo.
Here the newly arrived gods are gathered, so finding their partner is more simple. The gods and shinki are free to take their time during this day to learn about the aspects of their new life from Amaterasu's shinki, or from the many veteran new god and shinki volunteers.




God Training

Bishamon herself, as well as Amaterasu's ever-present shinki and any volunteering gods, will be the foremost source of information regarding being a god and what is expected of them, such as prayers. It is encouraged that gods group up together to practice what they've learned and discuss their ideologies.
Newly arrived gods are still expected to communicate to their shinki the information* they themselves get oriented with when they arrive.

Shinki Training

Various volunteers are stationed around the building, passing out helpful informational pamphlets. There are many shinki, including Bishamon's and Amaterasu's, who will be more than happy to train in using the borderline and some of the basics of what is expected of a shinki. It is encouraged that shinki group up together to practice what they've learned and discuss their ideologies.
Bishamon's lead shinki Kazuma offers a lecture to new arrivals that will thoroughly cover some essential points about teamwork with both shinki and other gods.

Physical Training

The dojo is stocked with a wide variety of practice weapons, traditional and modern. There are volunteers here as well, willing to assist in basic training. (Or even more advanced sparring, depending on the volunteer.) Essential for gods who, for example, find themselves with a sword shinki but are at risk of cutting off their own toes.
Also useful for veteran new gods wishing to train with their current partner shinki.

Rest and Refreshments

There is a garden off the dojo that is free to be used for rest and conversation.
Should anyone wander outside the designated area, some shinki of Bishamon's will attach themselves to them and not leave them be until they return to the dojo.

There is a refreshments table provided. It is covered with light snacks and various kinds of hydrating drinks. There is a little sitting area set up for people to relax in after they have finished their training or if they're just taking a quick break to cool down. Even hand towels are provided by Bishamon's helpful shinki. The Heavens wants everyone to stay in good condition!

Hey, whoa... The hell...?

[It's the tugging on his sleeve that he notices first before the question and the person asking it, and Ryuji skids to a halt on his heel and turns, eyes wide and blinking while he firmly takes his sleeve back.]

Your god? Nah, sorry man. If I am, they've done a pretty bad job of tellin' me I got another shinki incomin'. Ain't like that'd surprise me, though.

[And not being overcome by a vision of this guy's death answers that question pretty quick.]

[Yosuke's brows furrow at the force the other reclaims his sleeve with. Come on, it's not like he liked hanging onto other dudes' clothing either! He was just grabbing people randomly.

The guy seems friendly enough though, surprisingly. And by now, Yosuke knows that the fact he has a shinki means that--]

Man, you're a god too... [Somehow, that kinda pisses him off. If a punk like this guy can become one upon arrival, why couldn't he?] It's like I'm the only one that drew the short end of the stick.

[And then a thought occurs to him.]

Hey... you said it wouldn't surprise you if 'they' forgot to tell you about a new shinki, right? So, do you think--- I mean, could they have just messed up and made me like this by accident?

[Could he actually be god-material after all?!]

[Hey, it's not like he asked to be a god, or be here in the first place but alas, here he still is.]

I dunno, pretty sure bein' a shinki means you're dead.

[Blunt as ever, but really, is there any point in sugar-coating it at this point?]

Kinda hard to mess that up, don'tcha think? Hell, this place is all kinds of messed up I don't even know where to start.

Dude, ouch. Would a little bit of discretion kill you? A little bit of sympathy for the dead?

[... Okay, maybe 'kill' was not the best choice of words there, but his point still stands.]

And I mean, if you're here, even if you are a god, aren't you technically dead too? [He's not sure if that's how it works, but--] You can't just go back home either, right? You're just as stuck in this mess as I am.

[So, really, they're a lot alike! And so, he's not gonna give up on the hope of all of this being a mix up. Not yet.]

What are you the god of, anyway?

[It's the last question that makes Ryuji seize up a little, his shoulders visibly tensing at having to realize the fact that the heavens thought it appropriate to assign him a goddess instead. Still so weird. He is a MAN and no one will tell him otherwise.]

Uh... It's Nike. Victory, speed.... y'know, it's whatever.

[Yeah, he's become real good at dancing around that fact.]

[At first, Yosuke is impressed by what he hears - and it shows in the way he regards the other with surprised admiration, grin and all.]

Victory and speed? Man, that sounds pretty sweet!

[...

But then his grin starts to slowly make way for confusion. Nike... yeah, he's heard that name before, actually. And if he recalls---]

Dude. [There's a pause, and then a completely unhinged---] Are you a goddess?

[He grits his teeth and tries to maintain his totally cool and collected composure, but his shoulders tense defensively.]

Yo! Look, man. There are a lot of things people didn't ask for when they got here, alright!? [THAT being one of them!] Some chick just showed up in my room in my temple thing and told me everythin'! That don't make me a goddess.

[You wound him, Yosuke.]

[Oh crap, he clearly hit a nerve with that one.

Which-- he totally gets, for the record. He'd be defensive about something like that too! So don't worry man, Yosuke's got your back.]

... Yeah, 'course not! I mean, it's just a name anyway, right? [He shrugs and waves a dismissive hand for good measure.] It's not like you actually are her or anything. You've just got her powers.

[He offers a consolative nod - then realizes what else the guy said. Because hold up, all else aside---] Wait, dude, you had a girl in your room? Your--- temple?!

[Suddenly, this has become the most important thing to address. Priorities; he's got 'em straight.]
