Summary: Training and informational sessions for newly arrived gods (although there's none this time) and shinki



The product of many meetings and recommendations, at last it has taken shape. On this day, in anticipation of the new arrivals who appear in a recognized pattern, Heaven has partnered with the new gods and shinki to organize a very helpful informational reception.

The shinki arriving at heaven's meeting hall are, should they allow it, guided kindly towards Bishamon's temple. And in that vast complex they are brought to a traditional-style dojo.
Here the newly arrived gods are gathered, so finding their partner is more simple. The gods and shinki are free to take their time during this day to learn about the aspects of their new life from Amaterasu's shinki, or from the many veteran new god and shinki volunteers.




God Training

Bishamon herself, as well as Amaterasu's ever-present shinki and any volunteering gods, will be the foremost source of information regarding being a god and what is expected of them, such as prayers. It is encouraged that gods group up together to practice what they've learned and discuss their ideologies.
Newly arrived gods are still expected to communicate to their shinki the information* they themselves get oriented with when they arrive.

Shinki Training

Various volunteers are stationed around the building, passing out helpful informational pamphlets. There are many shinki, including Bishamon's and Amaterasu's, who will be more than happy to train in using the borderline and some of the basics of what is expected of a shinki. It is encouraged that shinki group up together to practice what they've learned and discuss their ideologies.
Bishamon's lead shinki Kazuma offers a lecture to new arrivals that will thoroughly cover some essential points about teamwork with both shinki and other gods.

Physical Training

The dojo is stocked with a wide variety of practice weapons, traditional and modern. There are volunteers here as well, willing to assist in basic training. (Or even more advanced sparring, depending on the volunteer.) Essential for gods who, for example, find themselves with a sword shinki but are at risk of cutting off their own toes.
Also useful for veteran new gods wishing to train with their current partner shinki.

Rest and Refreshments

There is a garden off the dojo that is free to be used for rest and conversation.
Should anyone wander outside the designated area, some shinki of Bishamon's will attach themselves to them and not leave them be until they return to the dojo.

There is a refreshments table provided. It is covered with light snacks and various kinds of hydrating drinks. There is a little sitting area set up for people to relax in after they have finished their training or if they're just taking a quick break to cool down. Even hand towels are provided by Bishamon's helpful shinki. The Heavens wants everyone to stay in good condition!

[Dust has an answer for that -- rather promptly, and with an intensity even beyond his normal.]

There are old gods here. Powerful ones with many shinki, who have been gods for I don't know how long. They're... distant. They're different. If I was a mortal, I would fear them and try to avoid them, not pray to them and have faith in them. Normal people... make good gods, because they care about the living mortal people they're supposed to be helping.

[Alex was quiet. His words...really hit home for her. She lived amongst the worst and most forgotten people. She understood their pain and what they needed. She could barely do anything for herself, so what more others, but maybe now...]

Are gods...am I really able to help them?

They pray for help, and you can give it. In a lot of different ways. Small things that... can really make a difference for them. Yeah.

But what if you fail?

[She squeezed her own hands. She'd failed many times before. More than she's succeeded. And that was as a regular person. What more as a god?]

If you fail, at least you tried. If you never tried... then it was never going to happen anyway.

[Dust won't say he's the best cheerleader, but --]

Sometimes even having someone just try to help you... helps, right?

We've all been there, one way or another... that moment when you show up here, not knowing what's going on. Gods at least get a little explanation, but even a little explanation doesn't change the sudden reality of the change.

[And shinki have it even worse, but she doesn't need to hear his bitterness on that at the moment.]

Give it a week or two, and you'll be giving someone new the same speech.

[Oh, that's right. Shinki don't have their memories here. She wasn't going to say it out loud, but she almost wished she didn't either.]

Of course it isn't. That's why it's easy to give a speech like that. It isn't quite as bad as when you first got here, but you still feel it.

Things have gotten better since I got here, though. So if people keep working at it, they'll keep getting better.

[That pretty much applied to anything in life, didn't it? So maybe it won't be that different after all. Maybe she could get used to..all this.]

If that's the case...

[She gives a small smile.]

I'm glad it's gotten better for you. I'll..give it a shot. I'm already here, right?

[Alex still had her reservations, but it's not like there was much else she could do about it.]

And there's no going back. You have to move forward... and take the path that won't leave you with regrets.

[He doesn't really mean to be so quietly intense. It's his nature. But that intensity adds weight to a statement like that... maybe for the best. Because that is important.]

[That causes her to pause, and she's returned to shrinking back into her seat.]

I'm..not very good at that.

[So far the paths she's chosen have only left her with regrets.]

New place, new times. Something to work on making a new start for.

[He offers his best reassuring smile.]

At the very least... there are a lot of good people up here, and you aren't alone.

[She wasn't confident, but he was doing his best to make her feel better so it didn't feel right to keep wallowing in self-pity.]

I'm sorry, you've been trying to cheer me up and here I am being so negative... Thank you, really. If everyone is as nice as you are, then that's reassuring.

You're allowed to be negative, if you want. [Dust can understand that. He spent plenty of time upset, and even now, a lot of things about his current situation don't exactly thrill him.] But whatever you're feeling... it doesn't change the reality of things. So don't think you need to just start being happy about this.

But it's true you can make a difference here, as a god. You can do some good.
