[ With the Babysitting Job from Hell wrapped up (thank all the gods), Yata and Saru had headed out to the place they were supposed to meet Butch later in the day. Only the quiet street they'd parted ways on this morning was not quite so quiet and empty now. In fact, it looked like half the town had crowded into the shops and stalls set up here, making it seem like there was a sea of people stretching from one end of the street to the other.

Rounding the corner, his hands propped behind his head as he chatted with Saru, Yata stops short and stares at the sight in surprise. ]

Uhh. I think our plans might have just been changed on us. Hopefully, your god can still find you out here because I'm not sure it's possible to find anyone in there.

[ He knows Saru means well, but Yata's not so quick to volunteer himself to be named and discarded again. Not that Roy would do that - or with that intent - but the whole encounter with Schuldig has left a bad taste in his mouth for doing things on the fly like this.

He doesn't comment on any of that, however, merely takes a step forward as he approaches the gate. ]

Well, you're on Rending duty, then. Lucky for us, I make great bait, apparently. [ Because has that been happening a lot? He's not telling.

And before they can stop him, he wanders into the daycare to put himself at the center of attention. The humans don't really notice him, but several of the little ayakashi slow to a stop, their many eyes drawn to the unnamed shinki wandering into their midst. ]

Tch. Idiot.

[Seriously, could he be any more obviously touchy about being named by Roy? He's been trying to encourage this since Fushimi was named but the idiot refuses.]

Say when.

[ He wouldn't do that, but he would understand the concern.

Don't get so used to being bait when you're still a kid, Jesus. ]

Be careful, kiddo.

[ He keeps a watchful eye on Yata and the shinki, but directs his next words at Fushimi. ]

You alright iffen I call you?

[ They may have practiced together before, but this is the actual first time they're doing field work, so to speak, and he doesn't want to call him and make him turn into vessel form without warning. Yata is doing okay right now so it's okay if he asks, at least. ]

Yeah, yeah. [ Yata waves off the concern, but his lips quirk at their caution anyway. He turns his focus instead to the ayakashi, wondering if he can draw them out and away from the kids.

One darts close to his foot and he reacts without thinking, kicking at it and sending it sailing through the air with an irate yowl. ] Yeah, you little assholes, take that!

[ Apparently that was all he needed to aggravate the rest of them and they started charging out from their hiding places, straight for him.

See? He told you he made great bait. ]

[Fushimi nods at Roy's question, though anything he was going to say is cut off as he watches Misaki kick an ayakashi.

Fushimi just.

Quietly facepalms.]

Misaki, you're an idiot!

By jing, the lad's on the shoot.

[ Kicking the ayakashi is probably not the best course of action. Granted, it's probably something Butch might have done as well, but still. He supposes he's not the only one who's prone to get into trouble. ]

Come, Karasuki.

Hey, you wanted their attention! We got it!

[ ...Potentially more than he wanted, however, because oh look, there were more of the tiny ayakashi hidden amongst the crying kids than he realized. And they all look pissed.

He drops his board and hops in it to lead them on a chase, keeping them busy so Roy and Saru can pick them off as needed.

...At least, that had been the plan until Roy had called Saru's vessel name and he stops abruptly in surprise, staring at the god, frozen in place. ]

....What did you say?

[Fushimi changes into his sword form, landing nicely in Roy's hand. Enjoy that your sudden knowledge of the best way to cut them off at the pass and whatnot.]

It's my vessel name, Misaki.

[Can Misaki even hear him like this?]

[ Unfortunately, Yata can not year Fushimi while Fushimi is in vessel form. ]

Focus, lad. Any questions can be taken’ care of later.

[ He doesn’t know what Yata finds so strange about the vessel name, but that’s a matter for when they are finished taking care of these ayakashi.

Using a sword doesn’t come natural to him, but he’s practiced enough to not be useless to his shinki. That he had experience with knives and wrestling, and a skill with aim, probably helped. As does the power Fushimi have in vessel form. With combined skills, picking off the ayakashi one by one (sometimes more) isn’t too difficult. ]

[ Yata jerks back to attention at the chide, quickly refocusing on the problem at hand. ]

Right. Sorry. Ayakashi. Got it.

[ He spins his skateboard around and kicks into motion, crouching low to put on some speed and veering back towards the hoard of ayakashi. ]

I'll keep em busy, you do your thing!

[Damn. It means the only person who gets to hear his snark is Roy.

Poor Roy.]

You're getting better at using me.

Yeah.

[ Hopefully Yata won’t lose focus again.

It’s not like he’s not used to snark, and he can find it pretty amusing. ]

I’ve been trainin’ after all. I wouldn’t want’a disappoint.

[ At least it shows, and carving through ayakashi isn’t the most difficult thing he’s ever done. ]

[ Yata snickers as he skids into a tight circle, sparks shooting out of the back wheels of his skateboard as he dodges the lunge of a nearby ayakashi, swerving to maneuver between playground equipment, children, and the horde of things now pursuing him.

Considering he can only hear one half of the conversation - but suspects Saru can still hear him anyway - he calls back over his shoulder. ]

Don't tell me he's bitching already. Still?

[If a sword could move on its own, Misaki would be minus one functioning leg.

As it stands:]

Roy, do me a favor and slice close to that idiot's left ear.

[ He chuckles, because this is sort of familiar, it’s making him a bit happy despite the situation. ]

He ain’t, and I won’t.

[ Besides the fact that he’s a bit busy, he wouldn’t do that either way. ]

Won't what? Oh, now he's bitching about me.

[ Yata gives a happy laugh as he hops up over a slide, skating up the ramp to perch precariously at the top and smirk down at the ayakashi who slip and slide and fail to follow him up. ]

Maybe I'm glad you're the only one that can hear him for the moment. [ Said with a cheeky grin as he gestures at the pile of ayakashi leaping and fuming at the bottom of the slide. ] They're all yours!

I am going to shove him off that ramp when I have arms again...

[Just let him know when you need him to rend.]

Awright.

[ So long as the shinki is wielded by their god, they rend...apparently. Which is pretty useful, but it would be good if asking the shinki to rend was a thing. ]

You kids sure are lively.

[ And such good friends, too. ]

[ Yata just laughs from where he perches on the top of the slide and continues to taunt the pissy little things to keep them clustered just out of reach of him. But it gives Roy and Saru ample opportunity to pick them off, weeding them out until one by one, each of them is dealt with and the daycare yard falls surprisingly quiet again. No more ayakashi means no more wailing and crying from the babies. Even the workers look relieved - if a little confused about what was happening.

Yata pumps a fist in the air in victory atop the slide. ]

Fuck yeah!

[ ....man it's a good thing no one else here can see or hear him right now because what is watching your language in front of kids? ]

[Very handy.

As the ayakashi are rended Fushimi occasionally makes a comment about how stupid that one was or how stupid Misaki is being right now. Once they're all gone, he sighs.]

Finally. Turn me back?

[ Some people swears, no matter if it’s in front of kids or not. Even someone raised around a home where they apologized for even small pseudo-swears that wasn’t even bad. But they’re not noticeable to the mortals, so Roy decides to not mention it.

But it’s good, to finally have finished off the last of the ayakashi. ]

Yeah. Return, Fushimi.

Yata, you’re fine?

[ Yata stays crouched at the top of the slide until the last of the ayakashi is dealt with. Then, hopping on his board, he skates down the slide to land in front of the god and Saru once more, grinning from ear to ear. ]

Yeah, I'm fine. None of 'em even got close. Nice work.

Mhm.

[Now that he has arms again, Fushimi is just going to.

Grab Misaki by the shoulders and put him in a headlock just long enough to bonk him over the head with a fist.]

Idiot.

[ Roy snorts and chuckles, watching the two shinki. ]

Y’both do seem lively still.

Ow! Leggo! Jerk! Hey!

[ Yata struggles in vain against the headlock, but he's laughing at the same time. When Saru releases him, he sticks his tongue out at his friend before grinning at Roy. ]

I guess so, yeah. But why not? We did good, right?
