KINYOBI is open for business!
Who: Gojyo and anyone!
What: Drinking, fighting, insulting this disgusting bar...
When: Any time from August 9th through the end of August
Where: KINYOBI, in Musashino, Tokyo, Japan
Warnings: Please put warnings in the headers of your comments as they become relevant.
1. Friday nights at Friday's
Kinyobi is a small, dark bar, located on a street that was never nice, not even when the plant across town was open. This is an industrial area, and this used to be a blue-collar, industrial bar -- the floors are permanently sticky, there's dents and gouges and names carved in every wooden surface, the restroom is a horror movie, and the booze is either watered down or rotgut, depending on the day of the week and the mood of the bartender.
Still. It's home.
2. Shinki Sundays
Gojyo looks up when the bell on the door chimes, and smiles broadly at the newcomer. "Hey, come on in!" he calls. "You're shinki, right? Lemme see your mark."
3. Wildcard?
And some images to give an idea of what the inside of Kinyobi looks like:

Edit as of October 6th, in-game: there is now a bar dog.

Evidence? [ The fury in his voice raises a few drunken heads further down the bar; Gojyo bites his tongue and leans over the bar, hands flat against the sticky surface, his voice turned down to an angry hiss. ] He tried to kill me and she jumped in front of him! I saw it, Sharak. And he didn't deny it. He hated me enough to kill me then... [ And okay, he has to admit it: ] ...and something's changed, I know, he could have turned me ayakashi but he didn't.
[ It's too confusing. He can't reconcile his memories with Doku's actions. He needs answers, but he can't have them.
...But Sharak can. ]
You could talk to him. Couldn't you?
no subject
[She can't tell him what Hakkai told her, can't tell him that the bitch had it coming, but she doesn't have to indulge him leaping to conclusions. Blaming himself for something that didn't even really happen is the last thing Gojyo needs, particularly with the factor of blight.
No, she can't tell him what Hakkai told her- Gojyo's alternative makes her pause, looking a little surprised.] ... I could.
no subject
But no, that's not the kind of person she is. A bit uncertainly, he nods, and steps back, hands finding things to do beneath the countertop. ]
If you tell me he had a good reason to do what he did, then we'll leave it at that, [ --he says to the clinking glasses on the under-bar shelf. ] You need a top off?
no subject
It only works if you trust me, you know. He can tell me every detail and I won't be able to repeat any of it to you. You'd have to trust my judgement.
[Can he do that?]
no subject
Get every detail, though. Punch him if you need to. [ A small shrug. ] Or you want to. [ And a smirk. ] Actually, assume punching's part of it. He's sturdy, he can take it.
no subject
[Sharak picks up the subtext there- he doesn't trust her. She's surprised that bothers her at all. Whatever this is will do for now.]
If I'm resorting to violence, I'd rather cut the crap and just shoot him. [Sharak, no.] But if I can't intimidate some information out of an idiot like him without going that far, I'm losing my edge.
no subject
Well! Now that that's settled, whaddya say we put more of a dent in this bottle huh?
[ Because that was the only thing she needed to talk to him about, right? ]
no subject
[She downs a good portion of her whisky, puts the glass down on the bar, ice clinking together-]
So, why do you think humans and youkai aren't meant to get along?
[They are so not done.]
no subject
It's just something I know. [ He tosses the shot back with a practiced jerk of his head, then sets the glass down to refill. ] Like I know how to walk and talk and tie my shoes. How to pour a shot, how to pour a beer. [ Cheers. ] Like I know what the red means.
no subject
You're youkai, you seem fine with humans. [She reaches for the bottle to refill her glass.] You're human, I didn't think you had a problem with youkai.
[Barring some specific examples. They have other explanations for them.]
no subject
I'm youkai. [ Glass down, refill, repeat as necessary. ] I'm just, what's the word. Contaminated.
[ Cheers. ]
no subject
[She's concerned for the risk of blight, but there's a general hope for Gojyo's well-being in there... Plus, a low tolerance for bullshit.]
Besides the superficial, how do you think that contamination makes you any different from another youkai?
no subject
It won't be the first time he's tended bar trashed, it's fine. He's fine. Everything's fine. ]
Superficial? That's just a fancy way of sayin' they're prettier'n I am, huh? [ It's fine, he knows he's ugly. He's good with it, really! No, really! Looks aren't everything. ] It's true. Some of 'em are really pretty. [ And he raises his glass in a mock toast. ] Almost as pretty as you are.
no subject
"Almost", huh? That's harsh. [Like she can compete with a pretty boy like Gojyo. She shakes her head and takes a drink. She's not trying to get drunk, but she'll get there eventually if they keep this pace up, even on watered down whisky. It'll just take a while.]
Aren't guys supposed to love redheads? I don't think "pretty" is your problem.
no subject
...Shit, you really read that whole thing, didn't you? [ Okay, now he's embarrassed. ] Guys, girls... guess that's just one more thing I just know.
[ He pauses, glass to his lips. ]
You're not gonna tell me that's somethin' else I'm wrong about, are you?
no subject
Of course I did, it was hardly a novel. [She'd have to have been pretty lazy to just read half of it. That or respectful of his privacy.]
Do I look like someone who cares about that sort of thing? [Sharak waves him off.] Men, women... It's another superficial difference. I'd hope you weren't paying it too much mind if you were still looking for "true love".
[She's remembers that stupid wish. It was cute.]
no subject
Hey, that was a prayer, it's not up to me anymore! It's in the hands of some god now, right?
[ Some god is totally going to show up at her temple one of these days and present Gojyo with true love. Totally. ]
If anyone asks, tell 'em I want a pretty face. It's easier to fall in love with a pretty face.
no subject
A pretty face, huh? That really narrows it down. [To about 90% of the Far Shore. Luckily, Gojyo isn't within kicking distance right now.] So what, it's my responsibility to set you up with someone now?
[She is his god, and she did read the prayer.]
no subject
Sure! Why not? Not like I'm doin' any better on my own.
[ Besides, Sharak just offered to play Cupid. There's no way he can turn that down! ]
I knew you were a romantic deep down.
no subject
Well, I can safely say I've never been accused of that before. [For some reason, people don't really associate her with romance.]
I can think of some pretty faces, but I don't know if you'd agree with my taste...
[But she's entertaining the thought now. It could be fun to set Gojyo up on a blind date with Hakkai without telling them. That'd be one way of getting them to talk.]
no subject
Oh, I think I'd enjoy your taste.
[ When he recovers from her murdering him, he'll have to make a note that decent quality hard liquor packs a much stronger punch than cheap beer does. ]
no subject
Sharak glares at Gojyo for a long moment, unimpressed stare meeting filthy grin evenly. Then she leans over as well, lays her hand gently on the back of Gojyo's head and sharply slams his forehead onto the bar top.]
How's that taste?
no subject
I take it back. [ His voice is muffled by the hand clamped to his throbbing forehead. But at least she didn't break his nose. ] You're not cute at all.
no subject
[She doesn't have to, she's adorable without trying. Even while smacking cockroaches. But she may be an acquired taste.]
Where'd you get that idea to start with?
no subject
You're the one who started talking about dating stuff!
