19 | Peaceful Departure

Who: Everyone!
What: Celebrating Obon
When: Evening August 10
Where: The Near Shore
Summary: Mortals may be partying, but there's lots of work for the denizens of the Far Shore to do.

It's the final day of Obon and spirits are being sent back to their homes -- both the ancestral spirits that have been welcomed home for the duration of the festival and the mischievous spirits that have been plaguing the Heavens. But some of them might not go easy, so Amaterasu has requested that gods and shinki old and new alike help ensure the spirits' peaceful departure.

Mukae-bi

Fires have been lit on hillsides and near cemeteries to lead the spirits back to their resting places and to protect them on their way, but angry ghosts and ayakashi are trying to quench the fires so they can attack weaker spirits. Keep the firewood stocked and the fires blazing high while you fight off the attacks.

Heavenly Exorcisms

It's time to bring any possessed household items to the Near Shore to ensure that the spirits are sent safely on their way. Some might go peacefully, while others might have to be purified by fire in order to set the spirits free. Hope you weren't too attached to that chair.

(Careful... spirits that manage to hide from the housecleaning can become permanent guests!)

Guarding the Gates

Hidden pathways into the underworld in caves throughout Japan are open from sunset to moonset on this night to allow the spirits who have temporarily left to return. Gods and shinki must watch over these pathways and ensure that no dangerous ayakashi take the opportunity to escape from the underworld before the moon sets.

After-party

After the moon sets, the denizens of the Heavens can finally kick back. Everyone is invited to a private hot spring on the Far Shore, where a midnight banquet spread is waiting in thanks for their hard work. Wash off any blight in the hot springs and enjoy the banquet before heading back home for a good night's sleep.

In Summary:
  • Keep the fires burning
  • Exorcise those annoying spirits
  • Fight powerful ayakashi
  • Enjoy a banquet
  • Have fun~

More trouble, and it's less likely to hurt anyone when I'm doing it myself. That thing put up more of a fight than it looked, y'know.

[ Can you imagine the trouble a haunted oven can cause? Even when disconnected, it can find ways. ]

There's probably a bunch of spirits in this that are fine with fighting to try and stay where they are.
alchemists: (told you to train instead of this)

[personal profile] alchemists 2017-08-06 10:13 pm (UTC)(link)
You're hurt already though, it would cause more trouble health wise for you.
bartenderizing: (Bedhead is so 2016 and I'm 2018)

[personal profile] bartenderizing 2017-08-07 06:09 am (UTC)(link)
Not really. I mean, this sling is more precautionary than anything else. It takes a lot more to cause any actual injuries.

[ He also has no sense of scale, or how much his injuries should really hurt. It could be in a constant burning and throbbing pain for most people, for all anyone could guess. ]
alchemists: (I swear I have pants)

[personal profile] alchemists 2017-08-09 01:31 am (UTC)(link)
[ Just how strong and pain resistant is this guy... ]

It's still in a means of helping an injury heal, even if you don't think it's a major problem any type of broken bone can become dangerous if not treated correctly.
bartenderizing: (I'm sensitive)

[personal profile] bartenderizing 2017-08-09 02:21 am (UTC)(link)
[ Far too much on both of those. Which isn't the most convenient combination. Especially when you're the person healing injuries caused by said combo. ]

If that's what you're worried about, then it's probably fine. This was just a dislocation that had mostly healed.

[ Yes. 'Just' a dislocation. ]
alchemists: (um what)

[personal profile] alchemists 2017-08-12 02:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Do you have a high pain tolerance ?

[ Popping dislocated bones into place is still extremely painful... ]
bartenderizing: (How to impress your kouhai...)

[personal profile] bartenderizing 2017-08-14 10:42 pm (UTC)(link)
I mean, I guess you could say that...

[ It counts as a high tolerance if you can't feel pain, right? Yeah, let's go with that. ]
alchemists: (Maria stop lecturing on strength)

[personal profile] alchemists 2017-08-16 12:03 am (UTC)(link)
Would you mind if I do some research on it? If you have a high tolerance even here then it might be useful.
bartenderizing: (Throw it away)

[personal profile] bartenderizing 2017-08-16 12:21 am (UTC)(link)
I don't really have any objections, but what kind of research?

[ He's not getting vivisected. How does he even know that it's vivisect instead of dissect? Well, more convenient knowledge to him, he guesses. Either way, he doesn't want it.

Also, what kind of research does a kid wanna do, anyway? ]

It would just be taking note of your daily routine and body functions. I can view the data gathered and see if I can replicate it.

[ Elfnein just wants to learn more about everything, can't fault the tiny alchemist on it. ]
bartenderizing: (I'm gonna figure it out)

[personal profile] bartenderizing 2017-08-17 12:17 am (UTC)(link)
It's really nothing out of the ordinary... Save for how I used to eat more than people usually did.

[ Also basking in the sun, but that's just a hobby. ]
alchemists: (cooking by the book)

[personal profile] alchemists 2017-08-19 01:42 am (UTC)(link)
What sorts of food did you eat more of?
bartenderizing: (Nu-ti cer nimic)

[personal profile] bartenderizing 2017-08-19 04:11 am (UTC)(link)
Anything that's not particularly bitter or sour. Milkshakes are usually my favorite thing...

[ Though he really hasn't had a taste for much of anything while stuck in his slump. ]
alchemists: (Smol doing their very best)

[personal profile] alchemists 2017-08-19 11:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah that might be a major factor if you drink a lot of milk based products. Vitamin D is an important item for bone growth and health.
bartenderizing: (How to impress your kouhai...)

[personal profile] bartenderizing 2017-08-20 01:01 am (UTC)(link)
I think that only means so much until you get to a certain age.

[ Not that he knows. Shizuo's just got the tastes of a kid. ]

But yeah, I usually have stuff with dairy in it.
alchemists: (look I'm useful)

[personal profile] alchemists 2017-08-20 02:03 pm (UTC)(link)
That's a common misconception, while the body cannot break down certain parts of dairy past childhood the vitamin content is still needed to maintain healthy bones and immune systems.
bartenderizing: (Turns out my friend writes fanfic about)

[personal profile] bartenderizing 2017-08-20 09:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Huh...

[ You learn something new every day. He doesn't even mind how it's coming from a kid- you can learn new things from anyone. ]

In that case, replicate that if you want. I mean, if you're not lactose intolerant or anything like that.
alchemists: (in the game I'll have cards right?)

[personal profile] alchemists 2017-08-20 09:57 pm (UTC)(link)
You can also get those vitamins in pill form so even if you're lactose intolerant you can still take those.

[ Real question is even if you get the daily amount how is it related to pain tolerance . ]
bartenderizing: (Bedhead is so 2016 and I'm 2018)

[personal profile] bartenderizing 2017-08-20 09:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Maybe, but I dunno if that'd still count as the same thing from what you said. Not for what you want, I'm guessing.

[ You get many times the daily amount, and also be Shizuo. In other words, it makes zero sense. ]
alchemists: (Double check)

[personal profile] alchemists 2017-08-20 10:12 pm (UTC)(link)
It would need testing, if I wanted to follow through on research it might be a problem since I'd need at least 2 people.
bartenderizing: (I'm gonna figure it out)

[personal profile] bartenderizing 2017-08-21 12:06 am (UTC)(link)
Ah... You might be out of luck for researching this stuff, then. I'm pretty sure I'm the only one that doesn't feel pain anymore.

[ The strength thing is another subject. ]
alchemists: (cooking by the book)

[personal profile] alchemists 2017-08-24 12:48 am (UTC)(link)
[ It can be put on the back burner for now, it's an experiment for another day. ]

In that case I'll need to figure out a different variable to test.
bartenderizing: (Throw it away)

[personal profile] bartenderizing 2017-08-24 12:52 am (UTC)(link)
Like what?

[ What are you hoping to test, small child? Also, why doesn't this seem so strange to him?

Ah, headache. He won't think too deeply onto that. ]
alchemists: (Default)

[personal profile] alchemists 2017-08-24 09:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Maybe strength based testing?
bartenderizing: (It's all pretty fuzzy by now)

[personal profile] bartenderizing 2017-08-25 01:40 am (UTC)(link)
I don't know how many other people can crush motorcycles into something ball-shaped.

[ At least ones that are completely human. He's also hoping you know what a motorcycle is. ]
