Summary: Mortals may be partying, but there's lots of work for the denizens of the Far Shore to do.

It's the final day of Obon and spirits are being sent back to their homes -- both the ancestral spirits that have been welcomed home for the duration of the festival and the mischievous spirits that have been plaguing the Heavens. But some of them might not go easy, so Amaterasu has requested that gods and shinki old and new alike help ensure the spirits' peaceful departure.

Mukae-bi

Fires have been lit on hillsides and near cemeteries to lead the spirits back to their resting places and to protect them on their way, but angry ghosts and ayakashi are trying to quench the fires so they can attack weaker spirits. Keep the firewood stocked and the fires blazing high while you fight off the attacks.

Guarding the Gates

Hidden pathways into the underworld in caves throughout Japan are open from sunset to moonset on this night to allow the spirits who have temporarily left to return. Gods and shinki must watch over these pathways and ensure that no dangerous ayakashi take the opportunity to escape from the underworld before the moon sets.

After-party

After the moon sets, the denizens of the Heavens can finally kick back. Everyone is invited to a private hot spring on the Far Shore, where a midnight banquet spread is waiting in thanks for their hard work. Wash off any blight in the hot springs and enjoy the banquet before heading back home for a good night's sleep.

That was the last of the stuff from the bar. I'm not really that hurt, either. This is just precautionary at this point. I really let it get too far that day...

[ Meaning yes, he did let his shoulder get that dislocated. It took two people with weird, scaly limbs that changed size and strength, in order to get to that point. Really the whole day that ablution happened was him taking things too far. ]

[Really that sling is the only reason Goten probably hasn't hopped up on his shoulders. Shizuo was tall, it was the perfect place]

That still counts as being hurt, Shizuo! You can't fight with me or anything with that on, so that counts as being hurt. Like how Izumo was that one time.

[ It's a really good thing that Goten knew how to resist temptation. For Shizuo wouldn't know if the boy was enough weight to help undo Hakkai's healing efforts. Now that whole issue is bypassed. ]

Difference here is that Izumo's injuries kept him from breathing right, and then it got a lot more severe from the attack at the bar. This is just because Hakkai'll get mad if whatever he did is undone.

Mmmm well I don't wanna make Hakkai mad and you shouldn't either. I've never seen him mad but that doesn't sound good.

[Yeah. He doesn't want Hakkai to be mad at him or Shizuo. So it's best to just keep the other shinki in a sling.]

Hakkai is a teacher and stuff too so he probably knows what's best for you. We can play when you're better.

Until then, I guess you're just gonna have to train with Izumo when he's awake.

[ Then lo and behold, Shizuo will realize that his twin is awake, and better than ever at that. ]

But yeah, usually those types of people are the ones you don't wanna piss off too much.

Ahuh! But you gotta tell me when you're better. I like training and playing with Izumo, but you're fun to. It's not the same without you either! If you need help with anything, you let mek now, okay? I wanna help.

[Shizuo is family after all. Izumo's twin and one of his best friends.

[ Then again, what else is he gonna do? Just go off breaking a kid's heart? He was a fuck-up but not heartless when it came to those kinds of things. ]

How 'bout this- While I'm recovering, if you manage to hit Izumo by surprise, I'll actually start dodging during training like I'm supposed to.

[ Which would help with all of their speeds, instead of simply tanking and not providing much physical feedback onto how well that hit was, or if he knew about it the entire time. It's a little closer to him taking it seriously. This was also him flat-out admitting that he could've been dodging the hits this entire time. As if that really needed to be said. ]

Hit Izumo by surprise? You mean with a punch or something?

[Goten blinks at that. He thinks it's possible, his guard isn't always up and if it's with the promise of Shizuo dodging....]

Any kind of actual hit. Punch, kick, tackle, or even one of your powers.

[ He's giving you wiggle room so that you have a better chance, Goten. After all, you have a pretty limited amount of time to manage this. ]

Okay! As long as it's an actual hit and it's a surprise, right?

The only time it doesn't count is if he's working, helping, sleeping, or cooking.

[ Not that Goten would, or at least Shizuo hopes he wouldn't go so far, but just to draw some kind of line. ]

[Goten wouldn't dare do it when he's cooking. And sleeping...he'd probably be using Izumo as a pillow anyway but the rest..]

Then Izumo is always going to have his guard up!

It's rude to attack someone if they're helping someone else out, and you're not allowed to fight in the bar anyway.

[ Well, if he's only counting working at the bar and not all the other kinds of work Izumo does... ]

It's a surprise attack, it's not suppose to be polite...

So as long as he's not sleeping, oooking or in the bar?

[ Look, he means actively helping people. Like getting cats out of trees or dealing with annoying brats that try to fight people for no reason. Or guiding Yona through the city. ]

... Yeah, pretty much. Think you can pull it off? I've only got a couple days left in this sling.

[Goten doesn't look as confident now that Shizuo has put in rules. But he gives a firm nod. If anything at least he's determined. ]

[Goten eyes the fist for a second before reaching up and bumping his fist against Shizuo]

[ It's not like you never tried to surprise attack Izumo in the past. This is just going back to basics and succeeding. If you do. ]
