Who: Rekka and YOU
When: Aug 5-9, nights (backdated)
Where: Both Shores
What: see cut text! :v
A. Green Flame
[SUDDENLY, a glowing little ball of light has appeared before you, bobbing up and down in a little dance. Just as suddenly as it's flown up from behind a corner (or building, or advertising stand, or by your feet), though, it bursts into a puff of green flame. However, it emits no heat, and, should a lick of flame contact skin, doesn't hurt.]
[Throughout the whole thing, Rekka is standing nearby, staring intensely.]
B. Ayakashi Watch
[Ayakashi in the shape of butterflies look slightly harmless (or at least, less harmful) to her, so she's standing on a nearby roof looking over a cluster. In her hand is what looks to be a small bowl (albeit a fancy-shmancy one), and she's passing the bristles of a forearm-length brush over it, then twirling it in her hand and trying again.]
[Occasionally the surface of the bowl glows a little or little loops of light appear over it, but from the unimpressed look that stays on her face, it looks like she's being unsuccessful.]
C. That should do it.
[Ah, yes, centipede ayakashi crawling along a train station. That is certainly something she should look into taking care of.]
[She stands in front of it until it notices her, and then she twirls and then strikes her oversized, forearm-length brush to the ground; what looks to be sigils or letters crawl along the ground and up the ayakashi's legs. It tries to move, but the spell is holding its many legs fast.]
[She rises to her feet slowly. Hey wait, is she going to do more than that?! Well...no.]

Oh~ Pretty~ [ He pokes at the flame. ] I didn't know there were will-o'-the-wisps in this area.
no subject
What's a will-o'-the-wisp? [She says while looking directly into his eyes.]
no subject
They’re ghost lights, and lure people away from the safe path and stuff.
[ And one of the names for them in the US is Orbs so it’s pretty suitable ]
no subject
I've heard of those... [Not by the same name, but that goes without saying.]
You weren't afraid you were off the safe path when you saw it?
no subject
Not really, no. I don’t generally get lost so it’s more, it’s fun to get lost sometimes, and besides, being a shinki’s always unsafe.
no subject
If it's unsafe, then it's not fun, is it...?
[She's not being sarcastic, she genuinely doesn't understand it. Having the experience of being a shinki worded so bluntly like that does give her pause, though.]
How is it unsafe as a shinki? [Leaving her own feelings about shinki aside, shinki have borderlines and their own abilities, as she understands it.]

He expected unusual trains that aren't as beautiful as they were back in his day, but he didn't expect the peculiar symbols attaching themselves to one of the ayakashi. ]
That's impressive, how's it ya're doin' that?
no subject
[...Is that all she's going to say?! Yeah, that's it...]
[She has more things on her mind than hows.] Are you a god?
no subject
[ He knows Haruaki uses spells of some sort, he can’t pronounce what it’s called but he knows it’s some sort of Japanese magic, but it’s pretty much the only thing that he knows about spells. ]
‘s much’s anyone’a us who’s been brought’a this place is.
no subject
[Might as well fold the explanation of her spell into it, too.] It'll only last until morning. [...It would probably help if she were any good at explaining these things...]
Rend is out of the question, but... Is there anything you can do to it? [Otherwise she would have just kept tabs on it until she or someone else could take care of it.]
...And don't call me "lass." It's Rekka.
no subject
That so? Good ya know how long it’s holdin’ up for. [ He shakes his head. ] ‘fraid there ain’t, the only thing I gained was controllin’ animals and the skills I got afore ain’t gonna bite on them.
Apologies, I ain’t got no desire t’ offend. Sorry ‘f I get the pronunciation wrong a couple times, miss Rekka.
[ He knows he has a tendency to mispronounce Japanese names before he’s gotten used to them. ]
no subject
But if that's the case... [She looks to the side, where the small goldfish-like creature she'd already conjured earlier floats up, flicks its tail a few times when it reaches her, then swims over to the ayakashi and hides itself somewhere.] If there's nothing we can do right now, then that'll keep an eye on it for now.
[As for her name—] ...Thanks. [The pronunciation doesn't bother her, but being called "lass" got a gut reaction out of her even if he didn't mean it like the guy from home did. (Zaruba rolled back on it anyway, but, years later, it still annoys her, a little.)] I'm filling in for the god Rangda. And you?

B, August 5th
[He appears beside her, eyebrow raised as he takes in her expression.]
no subject
[She looks over as she tries to recall who she talked to about an ayakashi-sensor; she's not too used to having to talk about it to someone unfamiliar with her brand of magic, much less keep track.]
For a sensor, to detect ayakashi.
no subject
He tilts his head slightly.]
It doesn't seem like you've been succeeding. [It's only a matter-of-fact given the expression on her face.] Any luck, though?
no subject
It's not my area of expertise. [By which she means, nope.] I don't suppose you know anything about it?
[Which is the second time she's asked him (she remembers that much, but "things that she needs to find out about" is something she keeps track of) , but continuing to try and fail at it isn't...comfortable.]
[She nods at the little bowl in her hand.] It detects creatures from a different dimension who are attracted to negativity. I thought that was enough to make it simple...
no subject
[Because he knows that she hasn't really divulged much about herself to him. Only bits and pieces with a conversation that he would admit having some difficulty recalling. At the same time, he eyes the bowl in her hand.]
What you may need isn't something specific - such as a 'different dimension'. In some cases, having a general idea may work out, such as simply searching for negativity, especially that in great amount.
no subject
[She turns her gaze back to the ayakashi as she considers. She'd assumed the specificity would help if she made minor adjustments to the sensor, but maybe her conception of ayakashi isn't specific enough; she's barely encountered any so far, and the tools of her trade had been in use for a long, long time. She's never wondered what it was like to be one of the first people to do this kind of thing...]
[And making a sensor from scratch is out of the question. For one thing, she doesn't know what base was used for this to begin with. With leaves...]
Being more general might work... [But she'd need time to dismantle it.]
Or... [She turns to face him again.] Do you think you could cut a piece a piece from one of the ayakashi down there? [And then throw it over to her. She could try it herself, but she only has a dagger to cut with.]

B as in belated
He watches the little bowl glow once or twice. Watches, more intently, the small flutter of butterfly demons below. And he talks softly enough to not draw attention to himself, but loud enough to be direct, and, well.] That won't attract them all up here, will it?
[He's not afraid; he's just rather Not.]
o/
It hasn't so far. [But that is not actually something she's thought about, and she turns her attention to the butterflies and watches for a moment. In all her queries about the ayakashi, she'd never asked how they detect things...]
I've been up here for an hour. It should be fine. What were you doing here?
c
[Chikusa still goes ayakashi hunting on occasion- not with the fervor he had a month or two ago, when he was still perfecting his poison, but occasionally.]
[So he'd been idly keeping an idea on the centipede ayakashi when Rekka suddenly goes after it, and he watches in interest.]
....Plans for it?
no subject
[Aaand then she suddenly remembers that shinki have abilities, too, that they brought from home. She'd only ever asked Chikusa about shinki in the general sense, so—]
Possibly. Is there anything you can do to it?
no subject
[Since she doesn't seem to mind, he starts to step a little closer.]
There might be spells which can affect it... But I haven't learned any of them yet. Most shinki spells work against other shinki or people...
no subject
[Shinki spells doesn't come as a surprise, though. If shinki are in charge of borderlines, then it stands to reason that their purview doesn't stop there. But exactly what kinds of conflicts do shinki get into that their spells work against other shinki rather than ayakashi?] That doesn't make sense... What kind of spells are you talking about?
no subject
Binds... Silence... Truth as well. [He blinks at her owlishly from behind his glasses.] They're rather self explanatory.
