A Sheep's Tale

Who: Zero and Ichiru

What: Zero and Ichiru and their magical sheep adventures! (Prayer #31)

[ Hades was surrounded by sheep.

White fluffy sheep that 'bahhhhh'd at him everytime he tried to move past the fluffy devils who started to--- ]

Hey! That's not food.

[ The young god snatches his hand out out of the way when he feels a rough tongue on his arm, nibbling at the end of his sleeve. The sheep had suddenly come trampling around a small hill a few minutes ago, catching both him and Ichiru in their fluffy stampede before they decided to stay leaving them in the middle of a sheep sandwich. ]

Ichiru.

[ Zero turns to his brother. ]

Do you see anything?

[ Any reason why they would... you know, suddenly start rushing off as if a big bad wolf had been behind them. And, where was their owner? Did they get left behind? ]

[ First off, Ichiru would very much like to know how he ended up in this predicament with Zero of all people.

They weren't exactly on the greatest terms with each other. Well, Ichiru was the one that didn't think he was on great terms with Zero. Anyway, he's also moping over the whole memory loss thing and left to his own devices. Somehow it ended up being just this and he's well not very happy about it.

He stared at the fluffy white animal that continued to 'baaah' at him loudly while nudging him all the same. Particularly, he didn't hate animals. Much like Zero, he sort of had a soft spot for them. He was staring at one until he saw it nibble on Zero's sleeve. Of course, that sort of thing resulted in Ichriu stifling a chuckle. ]

What exactly am I looking for?

[ He didn't see anything-- though playing around with 'what' was also funny. He liked feigning some ignorance. ]

[ ~~He heard that chuckle!~~

Ichiru's answer has Hades giving his brother an irritated look. ]

Anything that's not a sheep.

[ Ichiru doesn't hide that on purpose but at least he's not gloomy right now. He glanced around almost curiously as he tried to find anything matching what Zero emphasized. So far he did not see anything at all but he knew that before. ]

It would certainly stand out if it was nearly. Unfortunately, I do not.

[ Just as he finishes saying that there's someone running over the hill, a farmer by the look of relief when he see's the herd of sheep safely tucked away. ]

Nothing.

[ Uh-huh. ]

[ Ah-- what an annoying man ruining his moment. He doesn't seem to show how displeased he is but he glances at Zero and shrugs. ]

I can't predict when someone decides to show themselves as I see none.

[ His expression doesn't change but he does go transparent having activated his god power. He makes himself intangible and easily passes through the array of sheep meeting the farmer as he makes it to the edge of his flock, while leaving Ichiru behind. ]

What happened?

[ Ichiru shrugged a bit as he watched Zero use his God powers to get through the horde of sheeps. It was almost comical how it all seemed to be happening. He obviously wasn't going to show Zero how amused he was with the whole situation.

It doesn't take long before he moves around them to catch up to Zero with less irritation now that before.

As he was making his way over, the poor man that was running towards Zero was panting and out of breath. ]

Th-Thank you so much for finding them! I can't believe that bastard go away again!!!

[ He seemed super ticked but then turns straight as Zero as he points his finger at the God. ]

You and yer companion ain't thieves right?! Ya better give me a straight answer or I will call the authorities for ya!

[ Talk about a change of personality in two seconds. ]

We're not here to steal your sheep.

[ A statement, he'd never thought he'd have to make but here they were. But, Zero could see the man needed reassurance on the fact. Whatever happened, this didn't seem like an isolated incident. ]

What happened?

That's hard ta believe when I find the ya in the middle of 'em!

[ He retorted but the guy didn't look too bad, perhaps a bit towering but he didn't give the farmer a bad vibe.

Fine, he'll bite.

Ichiru on the other hand makes his way over as he stands behind Zero, watching as the farmer is unaware of his presence, seeing he's not exactly physical form among humans. How convenient. ]

Some thief's been going around hoardin' my chickens and other farm animals. Somehow a few of em end up dead-- bloodied even. I don't know what the hell is goin' on! Maybe the gods are tryin' ta punish me for being unfaithful.

[ Zero, wisely, chooses not to comment on that first statement and instead lets the man man, his attention only shifting for a moment when Ichiru stopped by his side. ]

The gods wouldn't kill innocent animals.

[ But then, ayakashi's weren't gods.... He mulls that over in his mind, unsure what to make of it. Was this the work of some ayakashi or was he overthinking it? ]

How long as this been going on?

[ Ichiru only watches the frantic man with disinterested eyes while Zero continued to try to assist the fool. ]

You say that now but ya know there's all kinds of gods out there, sonny.

[ He replied with his arms crossed, but he seemed rather convinced that Zero isn't the culprit. ]

Quite some time if you ask me! We've been tryin' ta investigate an' all but then we only back with more problems.

[ Ichiru sighs. ]

In short, he has no idea how long this has been going on.

[ A look toward his brother, it's not a sharp look because he agrees completely. Still, he's learned some diplomacy and unlike Ichiru he cares enough to use it now. ]

We've been tasked to look into the problem. [ He tells the farmer. ] We'll take over from here, while you focus on your flocks.

[ Lucky for the human, he can't be seen. So Zero would only be the one to hear his comments. He shrugs a moment as Zero looks at him.

He's not going to take back what he said and Zero knew he was saying the truth. ]

"We?" You with someone sonny?

[ He gives Zero a perplexed look. ]

Right--- Guess that's what us old folk do nowadays. Anyway, thanks-- guess you weren't the horrible murderer after all.

[ He keeps his composure but deep inside something shifts at having Ichiru's existence denied. He knows about shinki. About their presence among humans, but it doesn't make it any easier to see, to bear. He'd gotten in fights with Kaito for less because he knew how his brother felt, knew he overshadowed him when all he wanted to do was have him at the forefront. ]

My brother and I. We'll take care of it.

[ An indirect reference. He couldn't tell him of his past but he wasn't telling him, he was telling a stranger and what's so say he wasn't make it up? ]

[ Ichiru carefully watches the exchange with his hands in the pockets of his trench coat. It's not like he's a stranger to this. Humans in particular could not see something that has already passed on. He was something of a corporeal being and he's long accepted that.

The man looks at Zero a bit surprised at the firm reply but nodded his head, assuming that the so-called brother was somewhere in the area scouting. ]

Alright sonny, I'll leave it to you and your brother to figure out this mishap for us old folk. We appreciate it if anything.

[ With a tip of his straw brimmed hat, the man walked off. Ichiru, despite looking rather neutral about the whole exchange was caught off guard as Zero bluntly stated that his brother and him were going to take care of it.

"Brother."

Simple as that-- strangely enough that word was brought to his attention. He didn't ask about it because anything he asked about himself would be dismissed. Rather, he raises a brow at Zero for the comment.

It wasn't like he didn't confirm this sort of relationship from the start. Zero basically just confirmed it for him. Needless to say, he had no witty comment for that but shifted to the other side. ]

Are you really going to help these people, despite how they treat you at first?

[ Zero turns toward the hill to further investigate the scene. ]

It's our duty.

[ He tells him simply as he heads out. ]

Is that all you think about?

[ He mused looking back at Zero as he started towards the hill. It takes him a moment to trail after Zero-- seeing he had little interest in helping anyone.

However, it wasn't like he could simply walk off now. ]

It isn't.

[ He turns to look at him, stopping long enough to for his brother to catch up. ]

It seems that way since that's all you say when it concerns these people.

[ He replied briefly. But beyond that he's not antagonizing the other too much. It's just his take on things and maybe he had become more attached than he realized.

Especially with the new development bothering him to no end. ]

What exactly are we doing? We don't have the slightest clue on where or how these things are happening.

We'll need to stake it out.

[ He keeps walking making his way to where the sheep and farmer had come from. ]

You can go back to the temple if you want.

[ He's giving you an out, Ichiru, so you don't have to go along with his own self-placed duties. ]

Huh.

[ Muses briefly. Staking it out will definitely take some time but he's not completely opposed to it. Of course, he's also bored out of his mind so going back to the temple would only make him more lethargic about the whole situation. ]

That's too much trouble right now.

[ It's quite a walk or whatever back. It's kind of his way of saying he's going to stick around and complain anyway. ]
