In anticipation of the latest round of new arrivals, Heaven has partnered with the new gods and shinki to organize a very helpful informational reception.

Gods and shinki arriving at heaven's meeting hall are, should they allow it, guided kindly towards Bishamon's temple. In that vast complex they are brought to a traditional-style dojo. The gods and shinki are free to take their time during this day to learn about the details of their new life from Amaterasu's shinki or from the many veteran new god and shinki volunteers.




God Training

Unfortunately, Bishamon is away on business today, but her shinki as well as Amaterasu's ever-present shinki and any volunteering gods will offer information regarding being a god and what is expected of them, such as prayers. It is encouraged that gods group up together to practice what they've learned and discuss their ideologies.
Newly arrived gods are still expected to communicate to their shinki the information* they themselves receive as orientation when they arrive.

Shinki Training

Various volunteers are stationed around the building, passing out helpful informational pamphlets. There are many shinki, including Bishamon's and Amaterasu's, who will be more than happy to train in using the borderline as well as offering a lecture on the basics of what is expected of a shinki and the importance of teamwork with other shinki and with gods. It is encouraged that shinki group up together to practice what they've learned and discuss their ideologies.

Physical Training

The dojo is stocked with a wide variety of practice weapons, traditional and modern. There are volunteers here as well, willing to assist in basic training. (Or even more advanced sparring, depending on the volunteer.) This is vital for gods who, for example, find themselves with a sword shinki but are at risk of cutting off their own toes.
It's also useful for veteran new gods wishing to train with their current partner shinki.

Rest and Refreshments

There is a garden off the dojo that is free to be used for rest and conversation.
Should anyone wander outside the designated area, some shinki of Bishamon's will attach themselves to them and not leave them be until they return to the dojo.

There is a refreshments table provided. It is covered with light snacks and various kinds of hydrating drinks. There is a little sitting area set up for people to relax in after they have finished their training or if they're just taking a quick break to cool down. Even hand towels are provided by Bishamon's helpful shinki. The Heavens wants everyone to stay in good condition!

That's because it was a pointless observation. [Given Shun is generally very present at these training gatherings, Ron and Grell lurking to one side watching people caught his attention pretty quickly. Also because he was on his way past to get a water bottle of his own. Noting Ron's apparent issue with his water bottle, he tucks his under his arm and offers a hand for Ron to hand his over if he wants it opened.]

I don't see why something like that would be relevant right now, either. This is supposed to be for practice. [It's not even as if he doesn't know training is a good setting to get a good idea of someone's physical attributes, he just hasn't taken into account using it to judge attractiveness.]

You remember that? Bit of an ego boost to a fair number that was, I'd wager.

[ ....though he seems to hesitate a moment before handing the bottle over. It's still a little blow to the ego that he hasn't figured out simple tasks like opening a bottle.

[ Grell looks between them, having failed to notice the previous struggle over the bottle, herself. It earns a speculative hum, one end of her mouth pulling up into a smirk - amused at how inherently good this boy is. ]

Yes, how are you, Mister Shun? Been paying good mind to your beau, as of late? [ WINK. ]

[Shun isn't going to remark on the hesitation before handing over the bottle, since he doesn't tend to pry about those sorts of matters if he doesn't have to. Instead, he just opens the bottle quickly and hands it back with a slight shrug.]

Can't complain. Still working on swordfighting, but it'll take a lot more experience than what I have before I can start holding up against anyone who's been doing it since before they arrived here.

[While Shun did notice Grell from the start, after their last conversation he was kind of hoping she wouldn't comment...and then she does, and Shun shoots her a sidelong glare and crosses his arms, his own bottle in one hand.]

That's still none of your business. [Even if Grell figured out that particular detail of their last conversation, he doesn't have to give her any further information.]

[ There's a raised brow to Grell's comment. Beau, eh? The last time he talked to Shun, it's been all business. ]

You've met then? Saves the trouble of introducing you both.

[ And it's good to know his senior's gone the way she always does around the unattainable types. ]

Can't seem to hang on to a shinki if my bloody afterlife depended on it meself but you've a point with the training. The natives've likely been doing this longer'n I've been reaping.

[ Ah, she only giggles with delight, at receiving such a look! Looking to the other reaper, she'll pat his leg with some mixture of sympathy and attention. ]

Yes, I met Shun shortly after arriving, I believe? He was there with me when Amaterasu had been discovered in the fire, as well!

[ Grell's grabbing his knee with considerable excitement, then! ]

Oh, but it's simply weapon finesse that you boys are requiring some assistance with, why don't we train together, sometime?

[Shun gives a slight hum of confirmation to Grell's recount of their meeting, though he does step slightly more to one side as if avoiding the potential pitfall of Grell deciding to grab him as well.]

That was a while ago now. [Well, a month and a half or so. A while by his standards.

Though Shun looks like he isn't entirely trusting of that offer, it also can't be said he doesn't look somewhat interested.] As long as it's an actual practice swordfight and not you expecting me to fend off that chainsaw with one. And it's not always ayakashi we fight here, so even if you can't keep hold of a shinki, staying sharp with a weapon is still a good idea.

[ Mhm. She's really got a thing for cold and calculating. There's the most unsure look at that offer though. ]

Best to stick with what we know. Reaper's scythe is the most efficient weapon we've got. Course I've prolly got to learn how to reuse mine...

[ A beat. ]

Failed to mention but I've the old girl back! In pristine condition, too!

[ Wow, you boys are no fun at all. Grell closes her eyes with a shake of the head. ]

I'm trained with a standard scythe, as well. I imagine that should be sufficient.

[ Cracking open a lid, she must send a grin Ronald's way. ]

Of course, I couldn't go so easy on you, Ronnie. Now that you're back on your feet, I think you should need some strict training!

I'm surprised you still call them scythes when hers is a chainsaw. [He nods towards Grell before addressing Ron again.] Unless yours actually is a scythe.

[Which...okay, it's not a weapon he's all that likely to encounter here if even the reapers seem to be wielding bizarre variations on the traditional scythe, but he still seems somewhat interested.]

What are standard scythes like to use? It's not a weapon I've seen much of, so I don't know its advantages and disadvantages. [Or whether it would be worth learning to use.]

S'just a scythe in name, mind. They're all Death Scythes, no matter the form! Course, with this... [ cue sad little flop of his empty sleeve ] more'n likely I've to learn it all over again so I wouldn't expect you to take it easy on me in the first place.

[ Balance, weight distribution, all things he has to relearn now that he has his scythe back. But Shun's question does cause a soft thoughtful hum. ]

Standard training sickle's exactly what you'd think of it. Bit on the smallish side, clips easy to a belt. S'not made for thrusting or stabbing like a knife so I'd say... a tiny sword you can only slash with?

It's hardly a glamorous choice of weaponry, but it's effective.

[ Though, she'll look to Ronald, with a shake of the head. ]

It can be purposed to impale, should you use the point of it! [ Gesturing, as though to hook it into something good and fleshy! ] Doing so would slow one down, however; it's best to utilize its slight size and weight for agility in battle.

[Shun considers their combined advice - so it's a sickle more than the stereotypical image of a scythe, and it largely sounds it handles similarly to a sword with slightly different advantages and disadvantages. With a slight, noncommittal hum, he glances back towards the training area.]

I already use a short enough sword that it has most of those advantages anyway, but I might consider trying one sometime. At least to get a better idea of how it handles.

[In case he ever has to face one in a fight.]

[ Man, if he ever had a shinki that turned into an actual sickle though. ]

Personally, I prefer something with a touch more mobility.

I'm certain we could get our hands on something comparable, at the very least.

There's usually a good variety of weapons in the practice area. If there's not something identical, there'd be something similar. [In other words, he agrees with Grell on the acessibility point.]

And there's a woman here who can materialise weapons to a given description, so that's an option as well.
