In anticipation of the latest round of new arrivals, Heaven has partnered with the new gods and shinki to organize a very helpful informational reception.

Gods and shinki arriving at heaven's meeting hall are, should they allow it, guided kindly towards Bishamon's temple. In that vast complex they are brought to a traditional-style dojo. The gods and shinki are free to take their time during this day to learn about the details of their new life from Amaterasu's shinki or from the many veteran new god and shinki volunteers.




God Training

Unfortunately, Bishamon is away on business today, but her shinki as well as Amaterasu's ever-present shinki and any volunteering gods will offer information regarding being a god and what is expected of them, such as prayers. It is encouraged that gods group up together to practice what they've learned and discuss their ideologies.
Newly arrived gods are still expected to communicate to their shinki the information* they themselves receive as orientation when they arrive.

Shinki Training

Various volunteers are stationed around the building, passing out helpful informational pamphlets. There are many shinki, including Bishamon's and Amaterasu's, who will be more than happy to train in using the borderline as well as offering a lecture on the basics of what is expected of a shinki and the importance of teamwork with other shinki and with gods. It is encouraged that shinki group up together to practice what they've learned and discuss their ideologies.

Physical Training

The dojo is stocked with a wide variety of practice weapons, traditional and modern. There are volunteers here as well, willing to assist in basic training. (Or even more advanced sparring, depending on the volunteer.) This is vital for gods who, for example, find themselves with a sword shinki but are at risk of cutting off their own toes.
It's also useful for veteran new gods wishing to train with their current partner shinki.

Rest and Refreshments

There is a garden off the dojo that is free to be used for rest and conversation.
Should anyone wander outside the designated area, some shinki of Bishamon's will attach themselves to them and not leave them be until they return to the dojo.

There is a refreshments table provided. It is covered with light snacks and various kinds of hydrating drinks. There is a little sitting area set up for people to relax in after they have finished their training or if they're just taking a quick break to cool down. Even hand towels are provided by Bishamon's helpful shinki. The Heavens wants everyone to stay in good condition!

[Well, Wendy figures she's earned a break, so she has no problem in going over to see just what Hibiki is doing now, besides aggressively avoiding training.]

Oh, you think so? I hadn't really thought about spells before, so I guess it wasn't a big deal to me.

Hibiki puts down the pamphlet, the better to talk with her shinki. ] I have a responsibility to make you the ultimate shinki. If you desired, your curriculum could be modified.

[Best not mess with anything she doesn't know about just yet. For now she considers the option before nodding.]

I guess it couldn't hurt. But where would we start? [Actually- she perks up a little.] Oh! Have you heard about ofuda?

[ Apparently so. But her questioning tone invites Wendy to explain context for this particular mention. ]

Well, I was on the Near Shore, and I ended up running into this other god. She asked if I could do anything with them, since I'm a shinki. Since ofuda are kind of like barriers, and shinki can make borderlines which are definitely barriers... [Wendy shrugs, not really knowing much about ofuda at all.] The idea was that I could do something.

I didn't know what to do, but maybe there's a way to learn about?

[ Hibiki listens attentively. Ofuda...spells of protection...then...

The sun dawns. ] A spiritual barricade. Well worth the experiment.

Which god was this? [ A stuffed goat needs dispatching. ]

Then I'll ask around! I'm sure someone here has to know how to make one.

[If no one does, she swears she'll throw something.]

She said her god title was Rangda!

i'm laughing because tsuzuki probably knows (or knew) and she insults him every time they meet

[ Not one she's heard of. ]

[ Hibiki waves a hand. ] Speak with her at your leisure. It's worth pursuing.

Were you looking at any spells in particular? [And she leans over to see if there's anything mentioned in the pamphlet since the last time she looked.]

Little information is provided. [ Here, you may have the pamphlet. She has finished with it. ]

Is your borderline progressing?

[ The idea of a household member who is able to erect a magical wall between Hibiki and things Hibiki doesn't like is very, very appealing. ]

[Flicking through it, Wendy checks carefully for any new additions.]

Mm? Oh, yeah, it's a lot stronger now, I think. Want to see?

Gladly.

[ Display to her the fruits of your endeavors.

Hibiki looks around for a good target.... ]

Okay! Defense or attack?

[Wendy is ready to go either way, her hand raised up.]

[ Hibiki considers this. Someone has left a small rubber ball, around tennis-ball-sized, on the ground from some kind of projectile practice. She picks it up. ] Defensive, for now.

[ And without further ado, she lobs it at Wendy. She looks like she's barely moving - don't expend effort one doesn't have to - but judging from the flying ball and the purple sparkles now settling at Hibiki's sides, she threw that sucker. ]

[But her hand didn't move]

[Although a ball flying at her definitely has Wendy jerking into moving, her voice cracking a little from surprise.]

Line!

[And there it goes, just in time to block the tennis ball from hitting its target.]

[ Nicely done. Hibiki smiles and underhand tosses a smaller ball from behind herself.

Now she's one part testing Wendy's reflexes and borderline and one part just amusing herself. But the satisfied look on her face doesn't imply she's trying to pull a fast one on Wendy.

She has faith in her shinki. ]

[Another line blazes to life, although this time a bit easier now that she knows what's going on instead of just random balls being thrown at her face.]

[Letting out a breath, Wendy grins, rocking a little on her heels.]

Got it!

Your reflexes don't seem to be suffering, either.

[ Hibiki picks up another ball, but this one she just tosses up and down in her hand for now. ] Are you prepared to switch roles?

[ Never mind that this is a really tiny target. Wendy can hit it, right? ]
