August Training

Who: Everyone
What: Information and Training
When: August 15
Where: Bishamon's temple, the Far Shore
Summary: Training and informational sessions for newly arrived gods and shinki

In anticipation of the latest round of new arrivals, Heaven has partnered with the new gods and shinki to organize a very helpful informational reception.

Gods and shinki arriving at heaven's meeting hall are, should they allow it, guided kindly towards Bishamon's temple. In that vast complex they are brought to a traditional-style dojo. The gods and shinki are free to take their time during this day to learn about the details of their new life from Amaterasu's shinki or from the many veteran new god and shinki volunteers.

God Training

Unfortunately, Bishamon is away on business today, but her shinki as well as Amaterasu's ever-present shinki and any volunteering gods will offer information regarding being a god and what is expected of them, such as prayers. It is encouraged that gods group up together to practice what they've learned and discuss their ideologies.
Newly arrived gods are still expected to communicate to their shinki the information* they themselves receive as orientation when they arrive.

Shinki Training

Various volunteers are stationed around the building, passing out helpful informational pamphlets. There are many shinki, including Bishamon's and Amaterasu's, who will be more than happy to train in using the borderline as well as offering a lecture on the basics of what is expected of a shinki and the importance of teamwork with other shinki and with gods. It is encouraged that shinki group up together to practice what they've learned and discuss their ideologies.

Physical Training

The dojo is stocked with a wide variety of practice weapons, traditional and modern. There are volunteers here as well, willing to assist in basic training. (Or even more advanced sparring, depending on the volunteer.) This is vital for gods who, for example, find themselves with a sword shinki but are at risk of cutting off their own toes.
It's also useful for veteran new gods wishing to train with their current partner shinki.

Rest and Refreshments

There is a garden off the dojo that is free to be used for rest and conversation.
Should anyone wander outside the designated area, some shinki of Bishamon's will attach themselves to them and not leave them be until they return to the dojo.

There is a refreshments table provided. It is covered with light snacks and various kinds of hydrating drinks. There is a little sitting area set up for people to relax in after they have finished their training or if they're just taking a quick break to cool down. Even hand towels are provided by Bishamon's helpful shinki. The Heavens wants everyone to stay in good condition!

In Summary:
  • Get all the information you can handle
  • Veteran new gods and shinki are welcome to volunteer showing the ropes
  • Get in some training
  • Don't get dehydrated
  • Spectate if you want
  • Have fun~

[He looks at the flowers and his very first thought is, "Shouto colors." But his gaze will settle back on Shun.]

It seems like you've been practicing.

[That looks nearly effortless.]

Not this, but it's similar to things I had to be good at in my world. [Strengthening and tying ropes for moving supplies, or building solid shelters...the material is different, but the weave is similar.

Though he can't say he hasn't done this a few times before as well. In any case, he glances up at Izuku as he sets the first crown aside and picks up another pair of colours - two flowers in a strong red, and two in a colour so dark it might as well be black.]
If you're that interested, I can show you how to do it. It's not hard.

[If Shun wants to add more to that, then he's free too. But again, Izuku doesn't pry.

But he will take a seat across from Shun. Briefly, he has to wonder if Shun's colors are at random or picked for somebody else's color scheme.]

I'd like to learn.
revolutionfalcon: (really?)

[Given Ren was the first person to show Shun how to match colours, the colour choices definitely aren't just a coincidence, though of course Shun doesn't mention it.

When Izuku sits down, Shun puts his own flowers into one hand and picks up the bundle from next to him, passing it over to Izuku.]
Pick some out, then. The ones with longer stems are easier.

[There's a variety of colours in the bundle - a lot of pinks and reds, but also yellows, oranges, purples and white.]

[He'll pick out some red and white flowers. He doesn't know when they became his favorite combination, but they definitely are now.]

Alright. How do I make a flower crown?

If you've ever braided hair or a rope, it's not that different. You just have to weave new ones in as you run out of stem length. [By way of demonstration, Shun starts weaving two of the black flowers and one of the red ones together, the motions familiar and light. Once one of the stems of the black ones begins to run out of length, he lines a red one up on that side to continue weaving them together.]

It keeps going like that until it's long enough to be connected.

[He's done rope before, and that sounds simple enough. So he'll go ahead and start on his first flower crown.]

... It's kind of soothing.

[There's a slight hum of agreement from Shun at that.] It's something that doesn't take that much thought once you have the hang of it, so of course it's going to be like that.

[That's kind of why he's been doing it, not that he'd actually admit that much.]

I guess it's kind of like knitting or crocheting. At least from what I've heard.
revolutionfalcon: (about time)

[personal profile] revolutionfalcon 2017-08-25 01:11 am (UTC)(link)
[Shun just shrugs. He knows how to sew, since clothing repair is kind of necessary coming from a situation like his, but he's never done knitting or crochet.] Probably. If those are anything like weaving, then it's basically the same thing. Either way, it's easy once you know the pattern.

I haven't really done them before. But mom sews a little bit.

[Ah, how nostalgic... he misses his very first costume.]

It's nice to have something to do.

I know enough sewing to fix things, but that's about it. [Then again, a lot of sewing is just variation on that basic knowledge, so it's not as if that's a huge issue.

A soft, somewhat dismissive sound comes at the mention of things to do.]
I barely have the time to do things like this between everything else. It's not important.
