In anticipation of the latest round of new arrivals, Heaven has partnered with the new gods and shinki to organize a very helpful informational reception.

Gods and shinki arriving at heaven's meeting hall are, should they allow it, guided kindly towards Bishamon's temple. In that vast complex they are brought to a traditional-style dojo. The gods and shinki are free to take their time during this day to learn about the details of their new life from Amaterasu's shinki or from the many veteran new god and shinki volunteers.




God Training

Unfortunately, Bishamon is away on business today, but her shinki as well as Amaterasu's ever-present shinki and any volunteering gods will offer information regarding being a god and what is expected of them, such as prayers. It is encouraged that gods group up together to practice what they've learned and discuss their ideologies.
Newly arrived gods are still expected to communicate to their shinki the information* they themselves receive as orientation when they arrive.

Shinki Training

Various volunteers are stationed around the building, passing out helpful informational pamphlets. There are many shinki, including Bishamon's and Amaterasu's, who will be more than happy to train in using the borderline as well as offering a lecture on the basics of what is expected of a shinki and the importance of teamwork with other shinki and with gods. It is encouraged that shinki group up together to practice what they've learned and discuss their ideologies.

Physical Training

The dojo is stocked with a wide variety of practice weapons, traditional and modern. There are volunteers here as well, willing to assist in basic training. (Or even more advanced sparring, depending on the volunteer.) This is vital for gods who, for example, find themselves with a sword shinki but are at risk of cutting off their own toes.
It's also useful for veteran new gods wishing to train with their current partner shinki.

Rest and Refreshments

There is a garden off the dojo that is free to be used for rest and conversation.
Should anyone wander outside the designated area, some shinki of Bishamon's will attach themselves to them and not leave them be until they return to the dojo.

There is a refreshments table provided. It is covered with light snacks and various kinds of hydrating drinks. There is a little sitting area set up for people to relax in after they have finished their training or if they're just taking a quick break to cool down. Even hand towels are provided by Bishamon's helpful shinki. The Heavens wants everyone to stay in good condition!

It's dark. The darkest it's ever been, and the daemons never end, an ocean of them swarming over the streets of the only home he's ever known, and his heart is pounding but it's full of hope. Gladio's and Ignis's voices cut through the night, grunts and calls and battle cries, and he responds in kind--but his heart's with the man striding up the steps to the throne. His friend. His king.

It remains with him when the heaving, clicking darkness of the daemons gives way to a deeper darkness. As he hears Ignis and Gladio fall. As bones break like matchsticks, flesh tears, as the gun falls from his useless hand...

The last thing he sees is dawn.

--metal settles heavily, comfortably in Lucina's palm. He's a firearm, he knows this shape intimately, as if it's his own--dark metal with a streak of blue along the top. It is his own. But he's startled by the transformation nonetheless.]

W-whoa! I-I-I'm a gun! This is unreal!

[The images that run through her mind are ones that, immediately, Lucina knows she cannot breathe a word about to the blond man who was now a weird metal object in her hands. The sheer darkness of things, the sounds of battle, of death, are ones she knows intrinsically, having sliced men and Risen alike in two, having seen her friends and family and allies clinging desperately to life as the healers made way. And did she mention the darkness? So deep, so cold, so relentless, she feels as if she's staring down into the maw of Grima again as the beast looms overhead, no longer the caring mother who would kiss the crown of hers and Morgan's heads when she was tucked in at night-

The heaviness in her hands yanks her free from the lingering image of dawn, and she breathes out in a shudder, looking down...]

...Wh...what...

[Lucina looks around, then back down to the object - no, to Prompto, sitting in her hands. When she speaks, her words are hesitant, stilted, nothing like the vow from before.]

What...what is...a "gun"...?

Huh? Oh. Um, a firearm! ...A weapon?

[Wow. How does he explain what a gun is to a goddess? He guesses guns really are a pretty human invention.]

You point it at the thing you want to shoot and pull the trigger--the little thing under the muzzle, see?--and a bullet flies out really fast and hits the target. Easy, right?

[...Okay you know what she's going to put all of her focus into the concept of gun, that sounds. That sounds absolutely great right about now. Lucina breathes in, out...looks directly into the barrel of the gun, but does not put her finger on the trigger.

Honey that's. Still a terrible idea.]

I understand weapons, but...not like this. Nothing this small, save for some tomes...

Aaaaah, don't--don't point that end at your face! Or at any part of yourself!

[He buzzes a little in her grip, sheer nerves overcoming the fact that he is, for all intents and purposes, an inanimate object.]

It's dangerous!

[HOW IS HE BUZZING WHAT IS THIS okay okay she just. Points the barrel away from her completely.]

Okay - alright. I won't do that. But...but how do I change you back? You can't stay like this forever...

[He breathes a sigh of relief. He's obviously gonna have to teach her basic gun safety.

Why does he know so much about guns, anyway?]

Uh... it doesn't say in the instructions?

I...I don't know...? Everything was told to me, not...I didn't get a booklet.

[There should be God booklets. Damn. Instead, she closes her eyes, and thinks very hard about the young man she'd just met, his eyes, his hair, the shape of his face...

Excuse me? Excuse me...can anyone tell me how I can return a shinki to his normal form? Anyone? Please?

[And--flash!--Prompto's back, exactly the same as he was before. He pats himself and looks quickly over his shoulder just to make sure.]

[Maybe in another life this would freak him out, but everyone else seems so used to it, he might as well just go with it. He holds up one palm.]

Okay, before we ever do that again, I really gotta teach you the basics of gun safety. Okay? Really don't want you accidentally literally shooting yourself in the foot.

[Lucina breathes a sigh of relief - it would have been REALLY shitty of her if she couldn't get him back to normal, and if they're supposed to be partners, that's the last thing she wants to do to him. At his words, she nods.]

Agreed. I would not want to hurt myself either...especially if your other form is as powerful as you say. [Is this some sort of weird, alternate version of a bow? That's kind of what it seems like.] I've seen many tools of battle, but never one like that.

Really? I...

[He trails off. He has no idea whether or not he used these in the past, just that he understands them, knows how to aim and maintain them. He frowns to himself for a moment, then shakes his head.]

Well, they seem familiar to me. I guess you don't have them where you come from?

No. The closest thing I can think of, from your description, would be a bow and arrow...or a spell? But you need a tome to cast a spell, or a Levin Sword.

[Lucina is smiling a little, still batting away at that vision of death she saw with thoughts of her mother in battle, Levin Sword drawn, as they fight side-by-side.

It is actually incredibly comforting.]

A bow and arrow? Pretty old school, don't you think?

[He's smiling, but he shakes his head. He doesn't really want to tease her. It makes sense gods wouldn't use something ugly and modern like that.]

But guns don't use a spell or anything. The way they work is... Well, instead of arrows, you load a gun with bullets. They're, um... little metal things.

[He holds his fingers apart to indicate the size a bullet might be. Much smaller than an arrow.]

And inside each bullet is some stuff that explodes when you pull the trigger, but it's designed to push the bullet out even faster and straighter than an arrow instead of, you know, blowing up in your hand. And that's how it works! Mostly. I guess maybe someone else could explain it better.

I...don't know? They are fairly common where I'm from...

[Hey, if a God used a gun, then that's on them. Whatever gets the job done, right?

Lucina makes sure she pays attention, though, and nods when Prompto is finished.] Perhaps we can both find someone with more knowledge and practice together.

[He nods, too.]

And if we can borrow a normal gun at some point--a gun that isn't, uh, me--I can show you how to use firearms safely. Can't exactly demonstrate when I don't have any moving parts.

Of course. I would appreciate that.

[She is not going to turn Prompto into a gun until she understands and feels comfortable with gun, or else...you know. Magic person gun. Who the heck knows what a magic person gun can do?]
