In anticipation of the latest round of new arrivals, Heaven has partnered with the new gods and shinki to organize a very helpful informational reception.

Gods and shinki arriving at heaven's meeting hall are, should they allow it, guided kindly towards Bishamon's temple. In that vast complex they are brought to a traditional-style dojo. The gods and shinki are free to take their time during this day to learn about the details of their new life from Amaterasu's shinki or from the many veteran new god and shinki volunteers.




God Training

Unfortunately, Bishamon is away on business today, but her shinki as well as Amaterasu's ever-present shinki and any volunteering gods will offer information regarding being a god and what is expected of them, such as prayers. It is encouraged that gods group up together to practice what they've learned and discuss their ideologies.
Newly arrived gods are still expected to communicate to their shinki the information* they themselves receive as orientation when they arrive.

Shinki Training

Various volunteers are stationed around the building, passing out helpful informational pamphlets. There are many shinki, including Bishamon's and Amaterasu's, who will be more than happy to train in using the borderline as well as offering a lecture on the basics of what is expected of a shinki and the importance of teamwork with other shinki and with gods. It is encouraged that shinki group up together to practice what they've learned and discuss their ideologies.

Physical Training

The dojo is stocked with a wide variety of practice weapons, traditional and modern. There are volunteers here as well, willing to assist in basic training. (Or even more advanced sparring, depending on the volunteer.) This is vital for gods who, for example, find themselves with a sword shinki but are at risk of cutting off their own toes.
It's also useful for veteran new gods wishing to train with their current partner shinki.

Rest and Refreshments

There is a garden off the dojo that is free to be used for rest and conversation.
Should anyone wander outside the designated area, some shinki of Bishamon's will attach themselves to them and not leave them be until they return to the dojo.

There is a refreshments table provided. It is covered with light snacks and various kinds of hydrating drinks. There is a little sitting area set up for people to relax in after they have finished their training or if they're just taking a quick break to cool down. Even hand towels are provided by Bishamon's helpful shinki. The Heavens wants everyone to stay in good condition!

[He waves his hands frantically before his chest. Pls to not be attacking Prompto on the first day of his afterlife, he's a sensitive and easily intimidated string bean who just wants to have fun and make friends.

Still grimacing nervously, he looks down at the sword in Davesprite's torso.]

Doesn't that... um, hurt? To pull in and out?

[One would assume it hurts just to have there, but yanking it out can't be fun, either.]

[There seems to be some element of deadpan amusement to Davesprite's expression as he lets his hand drop initially, because that sure was a reaction to get to that suggestion. He can't really blame the guy too much if it's his first day, though.

The question makes him bring his hand up again, though, and by way of answer, he pulls out the sword, spins it in his hand a few times, then sheathes it through himself again with no sign of any pain or even any reaction.]

Nope. Could say I have a sheathe custom-made, except that's not really how it went down. [One half of you getting impaled in a previous form is a bit weird to explain, though.]

[Man, it sure is something to watch a guy stab himself with a big ol' sword. Prompto rubs his arm, trying to get the goosebumps to go back down.]

Isn't it inconvenient? It doesn't get caught on doors and stuff? And you gotta take it out to sleep, right, I mean there's just no way to lie down comfortably with it sticking out like that.

I'm kind of a wide load anyway, dude, I have to give doors a respectful distance. [He spreads his wings a bit to accentuate the point - even folded, they're big enough to make doors somewhat annoying. As for the other question, Davesprite circles a talon to accentuate his point.]

I nest, so I kinda just curl up like this. On my side. So it's not that big of a thing.

[He nods, then shakes his head quickly, waving one hand again.]

Uh, not that everyone with feathers necessarily has to be a bird! It's just, you said nesting, so. That's a bird thing. Birds do that.

Prompto's attempt to save his argument doesn't help, and Davesprite kind of has to resist the urge to facepalm.]

Are you seriously trying to play politeness judo about the obvious and in your face fact that I am at least half bird, because if you are at least give me time to set up viewing seats and popcorn for anyone who wants to watch you bend over backwards.

There is that thing between making all the assumptions and making none of the assumptions, you know, a middle ground. Try that sometime, I hear it's way less awkward.

[Where Davesprite's reactions are small, Prompto's are big. He groans and spreads his hands wide.]

I don't know, man! I've never met an angel that I can remember, maybe they're all orange with sunglasses and no legs. I'm absorbing a lot of new concepts all at once, dude, I'll believe literally anything anyone tells me right now. 'You're a gun now, your spirit's in service to a god, and the moon is made of floss and space candy.' Sure! Why not?

[That...is actually a fair enough point, though Davesprite feels his ability to give many fucks about his new situation when he got here was dampened by the nature of being a neon orange bird person. And also by his apparent general inability to give much of a fuck about anything anymore unless it's somehow outstanding.]

Yeah, okay, I'll pay that, but seriously, if someone has a bug so far up their ass that they get offended about you asking what they are, they're probably not worth the trouble of dancing around every maybe-offensive thing ever. Even if we're laying out the people who offend easily, that's some really fucking easy offending if they get precious about that.

[This is almost definitely the most offended Davesprite can ever remember anyone getting on his behalf. After a brief moment of flat, barely perceptible confusion, he waves his hands a bit to calm Prompto down.]

Dude, it's cool, they're fine, see. [He stretches his wings to full spread and closes them again to demonstrate.] I mean, not advocating people going for the wings, but they're kinda less fragile than you'd think for what they are.

[Prompto may barely know the kid, but he is a kid. He hadn't been sure at first, what with the tail and the wings and the everything, but shades-aided impassivity or not, he can't be any older than sixteen or seventeen. People shouldn't be attacking high-schoolers, that's awful.]

But still! That's more than rude, you know? They could've really hurt you! Who would even do something like that?

Way more people than you're probably expecting. I'm talking "jump on" mostly like doing the tackle-hug shit people do, except there's wings in the way and it has the potential to just end badly for everyone.

[Though he still has had people get violently frightened on first seeing him, so there isn't necessarily no danger involved. Davesprite mostly just seems chill and used to it.]

[He's embarrassed, of course, and kind of wants to leave and pretend he never said anything that weird, but instead he smiles and sticks out a hand to shake. Might as well, right?]

[Davesprite at least has the courtesy to return the handshake, though he keeps his talons sticking out a bit so they don't prick Prompto. His palm is a little rough, like someone merged the skin of a bird's talon with human skin - it's not quite right for either one.]
