In anticipation of the latest round of new arrivals, Heaven has partnered with the new gods and shinki to organize a very helpful informational reception.

Gods and shinki arriving at heaven's meeting hall are, should they allow it, guided kindly towards Bishamon's temple. In that vast complex they are brought to a traditional-style dojo. The gods and shinki are free to take their time during this day to learn about the details of their new life from Amaterasu's shinki or from the many veteran new god and shinki volunteers.




God Training

Unfortunately, Bishamon is away on business today, but her shinki as well as Amaterasu's ever-present shinki and any volunteering gods will offer information regarding being a god and what is expected of them, such as prayers. It is encouraged that gods group up together to practice what they've learned and discuss their ideologies.
Newly arrived gods are still expected to communicate to their shinki the information* they themselves receive as orientation when they arrive.

Shinki Training

Various volunteers are stationed around the building, passing out helpful informational pamphlets. There are many shinki, including Bishamon's and Amaterasu's, who will be more than happy to train in using the borderline as well as offering a lecture on the basics of what is expected of a shinki and the importance of teamwork with other shinki and with gods. It is encouraged that shinki group up together to practice what they've learned and discuss their ideologies.

Physical Training

The dojo is stocked with a wide variety of practice weapons, traditional and modern. There are volunteers here as well, willing to assist in basic training. (Or even more advanced sparring, depending on the volunteer.) This is vital for gods who, for example, find themselves with a sword shinki but are at risk of cutting off their own toes.
It's also useful for veteran new gods wishing to train with their current partner shinki.

Rest and Refreshments

There is a garden off the dojo that is free to be used for rest and conversation.
Should anyone wander outside the designated area, some shinki of Bishamon's will attach themselves to them and not leave them be until they return to the dojo.

There is a refreshments table provided. It is covered with light snacks and various kinds of hydrating drinks. There is a little sitting area set up for people to relax in after they have finished their training or if they're just taking a quick break to cool down. Even hand towels are provided by Bishamon's helpful shinki. The Heavens wants everyone to stay in good condition!

[That seems like an odd caveat for a god to have, and Shun raises his eyebrow a bit as he looks her up and down. She doesn't seem like she'd be incapable of defending herself without a weapon, but it still makes him curious.]

Sounds like a self-defeating request. It's in their best interest to make sure you can use whatever's at your disposal to defend yourself and others.

[And if she's that concerned about what her god's orders are, he's not sure she'd pick up an impromptu weapon if the need arose either. It doesn't sound like she has a problem with it for the moment, but things aren't always this peaceful.]

He may be overlooking his best interests in favor for whatever feelings he may hold in this particular circumstance.

[ She most definitely won't search around or pick something up as a weapon, if his orders were laid out as such. Even more, she might be that way out of spite, if spite were a thing she felt. ]

I can be patient until he decides otherwise.

[ When he's unable to fight on his own and the best chance he had was her being armed. However that may be. ]

[That sounds more believeable to Shun, and he hisses slightly in frustration.] Sounds like the kind of thing they won't be talked out of.

[He knows that kind of reaction - if they're being that unreasonable, it's usually because of some deeper-seated reason that won't come out easily. Shun himself is prone to that sort of behaviour under certain circumstances.

It seems like this woman is prepared for that much, though, and he nods slightly.]

You'd have to be, in that situation. But he'd have to at least work with you, so that'll be in your favour.

I couldn't say. That's not my place or position to be talking him into changing his stance.

[ Not directly at least. She noticed his distaste for her, whether it was due to what she was or something else, and thought it was something she could work with and adjust to. That was also in her favor. ]

You're correct, however. He'll be forced to adjust in our current situation for as long as he refuses to dissolve our connection. We'll see what that turns into, in time.

Shinki are meant to advise their gods. It's hardly the same, but it's not as if you're meant to be servile.

[At least, not if her god isn't a complete fool. Shun has to wonder why people like that don't just get the soulless shinki, who don't much seem to care who their god is or how they're treated.

It seems like her way of looking at it is fairly well-balanced, though, and Shun hums slightly in agreement.]

If he's refusing to dissolve the connection, he obviously intends to work with you one way or another. [It'd be different if she was unwilling, but given her attitude he highly doubts she asked for the connection dissolved.]

It may be that I've found myself with a rather indulgent personality.

[ The question may be who was being indulged, but it was a shorter list to say who wasn't. The boy said she wasn't meant to act as such, but it's where her instincts went towards. Perhaps due to the outfit that she had woken up in. ]]

You should be correct on that matter as well. As it's only the first day, I'll certainly find out in time.

[That's one way to put it, and though Shun raises a brow, he doesn't read too much into it for the moment. That's something he can find out along the way.] As long as you're not planning to let him walk all over you.

[Shun is of the opinion that if a shinki has the backbone to stand up to their god on matters of dissent, they should do it. Having ego-inflated gods does nothing for anyone.]

Most gods won't just stand idle if you want to be released and he refuses anyway, so for the moment it shouldn't be an issue.

[ At the thought, Hannah learned something else about herself- She wouldn't mind if someone literally walked over her. Maybe not enjoy it, but she wouldn't mind it either. Metaphorically, however, was another subject. In a sense, she was already working on that, in her own patient way. ]

I'll truly keep what you say in mind, Kurosaki Shun. However it turns out, I'm not worried about it becoming an issue.

[It's a little odd to see this level of loyalty from one of the non-native shinki so early, and though Shun doesn't exactly look impressed with it, he also doesn't question it. She presumably has her own reasons, that he shouldn't be asking her to look too much into.]

Maybe not, but it's still useful to know there are people willing to help if you ever change your mind.

Should I do so in the future, are there any gods in particular that you would recommend I reach out towards?

[ Not all people that give advice want to be the ones reached out towards, and it'd be a good direction on who to look towards. ]

[Shun has to think for a few moments on that, because a lot of the gods that first come to mind, he hasn't really heard from lately.]

I'd do it, but Aidos is another one you could probably look out for, and Dali likes to talk about offering safe haven every few weeks or so. [...And as much as he hates to admit it, there's one more person he could add.] If you're particularly desperate, Li Tieguai is well-connected and used to be a shinki, so I doubt he'd take that sort of thing lightly either.

[He's giving god names half because that's what their phone contact lists use and half because he doesn't actually know Dali's real name.]

[ Of all of those, only one was familiar. However, due to the phrasing, Hannah felt it was better to keep that, and Hakkai's card, to herself. She'll make a point to look into those names when it was more convenient, later this evening. ]

I'll keep all of those in mind. Though I'm curious as to why you'd link this Li Tieguai with desperation with the other things you've linked him to. Does he tend to take extreme measures?

[While Shun doesn't doubt Hakkai is the kind of person who could and potentially would take extreme measures, he can't exactly say it for certain. He doesn't really know him well enough, so he just shrugs.]

Nothing that noteworthy. I just don't like him or trust him. [Well, at least he's honest...?]

[ Honesty is a virtue, for better or worse. Against Shun's luck is that Hannah had learned that she and the Hakkai were actually quite similar- Judging from their short interaction. ]

Well, it's not like I'll be discarding your opinion. The others you do like and trust?

Dali I haven't spoken to enough to make a judgement call. Aidos seems to get on with most people. It's down to you which one you think is best, anyway.

[So even if she decides to go for Hakkai while not being desperate, he probably won't judge too hard.]

True, though I'll still properly consider the guidance you've provided.

[ It may come down to a question of whether she wanted to involve or implicate a good person with her actions. It didn't matter if those actions were good or bad; just interacting with them could color their reputations to certain people. ]

[There's a slight hum of acceptance at that remark, and Shun looks over her once more. Regardless of issues with her god, he feels like all shinki should at least have the same baseline to work from.]

If there's any information he hasn't passed on to you yet, I might be able to answer questions.

Fortunately, thanks to the brochure and other helpful shinki and gods, such as yourself, most of my questions have been answered. At least the ones pertaining to this particular situation.

[ Then there were the questions that she probably shouldn't ask for a little while. At least at this point. ]

That's something. [The brochures have made it a little easier to get a decent amount of information without relying on a god. It's something he's fairly grateful for at this point.

With a slight nod, he starts to turn away, still keeping an eye on her.] I'll leave you to it, then. At least I know who to ask if I ever need to learn how to use firearms.

I'm not sure it's wise to ask someone without full awareness of training for such help, but I won't turn you away.

[ After all, as far as she can remember, this is her first time holding a gun. Obviously she has in the past, which is why she isn't saying no, but it was a gentle way of telling him to exercise caution.

Now that she's done that, a small mix of a curtsy and slight bow is given as it seems he was done. ]

Better than someone who doesn't know how to use the weapon at all. [And while it may be a bit risky to actually mention, in his experience, shinki tend to pick up skills they had in life very quickly. If she still feels unfamiliar with guns now, he doubts it'll last long.

With a slight incline of the head by way of farewell, he takes his leave.]
