In anticipation of the latest round of new arrivals, Heaven has partnered with the new gods and shinki to organize a very helpful informational reception.

Gods and shinki arriving at heaven's meeting hall are, should they allow it, guided kindly towards Bishamon's temple. In that vast complex they are brought to a traditional-style dojo. The gods and shinki are free to take their time during this day to learn about the details of their new life from Amaterasu's shinki or from the many veteran new god and shinki volunteers.




God Training

Unfortunately, Bishamon is away on business today, but her shinki as well as Amaterasu's ever-present shinki and any volunteering gods will offer information regarding being a god and what is expected of them, such as prayers. It is encouraged that gods group up together to practice what they've learned and discuss their ideologies.
Newly arrived gods are still expected to communicate to their shinki the information* they themselves receive as orientation when they arrive.

Shinki Training

Various volunteers are stationed around the building, passing out helpful informational pamphlets. There are many shinki, including Bishamon's and Amaterasu's, who will be more than happy to train in using the borderline as well as offering a lecture on the basics of what is expected of a shinki and the importance of teamwork with other shinki and with gods. It is encouraged that shinki group up together to practice what they've learned and discuss their ideologies.

Physical Training

The dojo is stocked with a wide variety of practice weapons, traditional and modern. There are volunteers here as well, willing to assist in basic training. (Or even more advanced sparring, depending on the volunteer.) This is vital for gods who, for example, find themselves with a sword shinki but are at risk of cutting off their own toes.
It's also useful for veteran new gods wishing to train with their current partner shinki.

Rest and Refreshments

There is a garden off the dojo that is free to be used for rest and conversation.
Should anyone wander outside the designated area, some shinki of Bishamon's will attach themselves to them and not leave them be until they return to the dojo.

There is a refreshments table provided. It is covered with light snacks and various kinds of hydrating drinks. There is a little sitting area set up for people to relax in after they have finished their training or if they're just taking a quick break to cool down. Even hand towels are provided by Bishamon's helpful shinki. The Heavens wants everyone to stay in good condition!

That does sound like something I would like to attend.

[ Accepting the card, Hannah looks at the sketched map that was added to the back. Apparently gods had business cards, which wasn't surprising so much as a different kind of amusing. Was it amusing? In some way, though she suspected not many would share in how it was for her.

Pocketing it in the apron with the brochure, her head dips for a moment as a small bow.]

When you were able to do these yourself, how long did it take to get a proper handle on making borderlines?

[Sadly, gods don't have business cards provided, but Hakkai's found himself telling enough new arrivals about the school that he's had some printed.

They prove useful. He returns the small, polite bow.]

I found that the learning process went faster when I cast it against a small ayakashi. The visual aid helps.

[ Congratulations on bringing godhood to the modern era, Hakkai.

Meanwhile, as Hakkai had offered and was clearly knowledgeable on this and many other subjects, the new shinki was going to take clear advantage of it. ]

Are there known instances of other... abilities interfering with the learning process? Either in your own case or others that you may have come across.

[ It may be a relevant concern. That or a convenient excuse if something else happens and she wanted to claim a mix-up. ]

Yes, in fact, there are. In my case, I didn't have any difficulty -- my own abilities are different enough not to interfere, it seems.

It's happened, however. Do you have other abilities that might cause a problem?

[He blinks at her, all innocent curiosity.]

[ Would they be a problem? Hannah looks to be properly thinking on it, though she already had her answer. Most of them didn't even work closely with borderlines. Yet she could make it seem like one in particular did. For a good show, her gut said that it was possible to play around.

Yet what that was completely, she wasn't sure. Not yet. ]

... Perhaps there is something. For the most part, I would say no, but my instincts say that there's a good chance of something else manifesting in the line's place.

It's worth practicing. You may discover something interesting in the process.

[He tilts his head, smiling.]

And I'd be interested to hear what you find out, of course.

You almost sound like you'd have to wait. This gathering is to figure it out, correct?

[ She turns so that her back is to Hakkai, now facing a far more empty area. Which is safer. The hand, gesture, and even her calling out 'Line!' was solid and with a calm confidence, almost ideal in form as if she watched others doing it a few times before. (Then again, that's very well likely as she had, having had to wait for her god and being named before even having the ability to try.)

Except there was no real thought of actually casting it, or of protecting someone, or keeping something out. So instead of that bright light forming a barrier, there was a wave of flame that appeared in its place, disappearing almost right away.

Hannah doesn't turn to face Hakkai again, not yet, but there's a tone of acceptance and amusement as she seems to stare at the scorched line in the grass. ]

I suppose I'll have to be careful in my practice.

[Hakkai sounds just as mild and amused as Hannah does; he chuckles, stepping around her side to crouch and examine the damage to the grass. How deep does that scorch go? How hot is the flame?

To scorch wet grass that quickly, it must already be remarkably hot.]

A very interesting ability. I'm sure you'll find good use for it.

[ Luckily for Hannah, his focus is on the ground. If he had looked back to her any sooner, he'd have seen the demonic glow in one of her eyes. However the scorch was nowhere near deep- it seemed to have been just enough for a dramatic effect.

For in her world, while Hannah would be blissfully unaware, that's exactly what demons used that power of summoning hellfire was for; to be dramatic. ]

Once I have a handle on that as well, and can keep it separated from my attempts at these borderlines.

[ Kudos for her with keeping that same amused tone. There was no reason to be dismayed by failure when you still learn something interesting. ]

Yes, you may have to be careful until then.

[He chuckles, straightening to his full height again. Perhaps a more dangerous attack against someone above ground, but from the depth of the scorches, it might be startling and painful rather than fatal.

Interesting nonetheless.]

Or at least cast it only in the direction of your targets, not your allies.

[ At least that's the best assessment with a first time, completely untrained use of the power. It's not like this was Hakkai's first time seeing a demon use fire in the first place, so he had a base to go off of. ]

I'll be sure to keep that in mind. Hopefully this abandoned temple that you've been using is fireproof enough to take advantage of?

[ Just the picture of consideration, isn't she? ]

It is mostly concrete, but I'd appreciate if you kept your practice sessions out in the courtyard until you're sure it won't burn anything down!

It would make quite a mess, after all.

[He doesn't charge for use of the facilities... but he's definitely going to bill for damages.]

[ If it was mostly concrete, it'd be quite impressive if she managed to cause too much damage, save for coloring the walls with burns. ]

We wouldn't want to be causing messes, after all.

[ One dressed like a maid most definitely wouldn't try anything of the sort. ]

The weather looks to be nice enough to practice outside until I have a better understanding of these abilities.

[ Of course this leads to her returning the bow. With these two, it could turn into a loop of polite gestures and words if nothing is done. ]

Of course, I appreciate all of the knowledge that you've shared with me so far.

[This could turn into a bowing competition, but, Hakkai reflects, entertaining as that would be he has other things to do. He doesn't bow again, instead smiling and tilting his head slightly in the direction of the gods' meeting area.]

[ Seeing as he's apparently able to recognize when they were able to get in a loop. There's no reason to hold him for much longer- though Hannah has learned quite a bit already. ]

Should I be allowed to in the future, we'll most certainly meet again. If I'm not, then I suppose I'll have to get creative.
