Some Nights
Who: Mikoto Suoh and Eric Surt
What: King and clansman finally have a talk
When: August 15
Where: Izumo's Bar
Summary: Eric comes looking for Izumo but finds Mikoto instead.
The Red King didn't frequent his shinki's bar all that much, but tonight was one of the rare occasions one could find him seated away from the rest of the patrons nursing a glass of whiskey. To any whose gaze strayed across the room, the sun god seemed content with his own company and was left alone to finish his drink before heading out. The same story would have played out tonight had Mikoto not heard the familiar ring of the bell just above the entrance.
Gold eyes lift up and land on one of his clansmen.
"....."
Mikoto watches the young blond stand in place, reluctant to approach further as his gaze flicks across the bar as if searching for someone they couldn't quite find.
"He's not here right now."
He comments from his seat.

But when he opens the door to the bar, instead of the shinki, he saw the god. Great.
There was a long debate in his head whether to leave or stay. Just seeing Mikoto there made him want to hide. But at the same time, he didn't seem to mind.
He sighed, walking in anyways and sitting down on the couch in the area. Almost near Mikoto but not too close. ]
I'll wait.

Suit yourself.
[ He tells him, not commenting on his choice of seating. Unlike the rest of the patrons, Mikoto didn't mind his closeness. ]

He's silent for a few minutes, used to not talking, but he glances over at Mikoto. ]
He just left? Or he'll come back soon?
[ Honestly he's not sure why he's even asking. This guy barely says anything let alone answering questions. ]
no subject
[ Mikoto doesn't exactly keep tabs on the comings and goings of Izumo. And Izumo wasn't obligated to tell him. So, Mikoto is as clueless as he is on the matter. ]
no subject
[ Well, it had been worth a shot. He didn't always tell Ren when where he went either.
Eric shifts slightly in the chair, fidgeting woth one of his sleeves. Occassionally he looks up to watch Mikoto, almost studying him. ]

Say what you want.

[ With actual worda and not just grunts?]

He scoffs quietly, he should have seen that coming. But he still had a question or two...or five he wanted to ask. ]
Why did you give me a bodyguard?
no subject
You stray.
[ He stares at the glass. ]
Without someone there, you stray.
no subject
[ That just piled on more questions than answers. He tilts his head, trying to figure tmit out. Why was he straying without someone? ]
Stray from what?

[ The ones people fall through all the time. ]
You stray too close to them.
[ And he doesn't want you being left behind as another tragic by-line in the newspaper. It wasn't a coincidence most of his clansmen consisted of people who'd fallen through the cracks of society. HOMRA was there to keep them from falling a second time. ]

[ He squeezes one of his sleeves in his fist as he remembers his memory and winces a bit.
Did he start doing that willingly? What does this guy know about him? ]
And Chihuahua is suppose to help me with that?
no subject
He needs something to protect or he'll go off on his own.
[ So, it's not just for your benefit. ]
no subject
And...was Mikoto smiling? He blinks a few times, not expecting that. ]
Sounds like he needs a better hobby. But...he's not that bad after getting used to him.
[ And he did help him out that night, when he didn't even think he needed it...but really did. But since he's gotten him talking... ]
The first time we met...you just erupted in flames, why? You really seem to have some deal with me.
no subject
You're a shinki.
[ Which meant, he was dead in his world. Yata, Bandou, Shouhei even Izumo... He had cornered the Blue King to kill him to stop that from happening and in the end... he didn't save them at all. ]
no subject
Sorry I don't remember you. Probably a better memory then...
[ He trails off, not wanting to continue that sentence. The less he thought about it, the better the rest of his time will be. ]
no subject
It's better that way.
[ He wasn't exactly a good King. ]
You've got a good god.
[ He had no complaints about it. So long as the kid took care of his clansman, he'd stay out of it. ]
no subject
[ One was more then enough. He perks up though when he hears Mikoto compliment on his god. Man this guy was full of surprises today. ]
He is pretty good. Very...understanding.
[ From some stories he heard he was a lucky shinki, to have a good god and to have one for so long. ]
no subject
Depends on the memories you get back.
[ If it was anything like Izumo's first memory then he can understand. It was the first time he'd gotten blighted. ]
no subject
[ He begins to play with his hair a bit. If he had another memory, who knows if it would be good...or another one like he did. ]
Just easier to have all or nothing...but it's just being a shinki, have to live with it.
no subject
[ He pick up his drink. ]
Memories..
no subject
A good memory though, would be a lot less trouble than a bad one like he had. And maybe he should question this, maybe he was lying, trying to deceive him or make him feel better. But that also seems unlikely. Coming from this guy...it seemed truthful.
He smiles, just a little and a bit sadly. He begins to fidget with his sleeves. ]
Good to know...I guess.
