Reaper Mingle is go!
Who: William T. Spears and any reapers of the far shore
When: Evening of August 16th
Where: The temple of Baron Samdi (Ronald Knox)
What: William calls an emergency meeting for any and all reapers. There is something they all need to be aware of. (And because it's being held at Ronnie's temple, you can expect it to devolve into more of a mixer once William stops preaching.)
Part 1 - The Announcement
[ The following is a text that appeared on the BBS late last evening, shortly after the training session wrapped up. It is addressed to those on the far shore who were reapers in their home worlds, however, the only one who is blocked from viewing it is William's shinki, Hannah Annafellows. ]
I am calling to attention anyone who holds the position of a Reaper, Death God, Shinigami, or other related title. Good evening. My name is William T. Spears. I believe I met many of you this afternoon during the training session at Bishamon's temple. However, regardless of whether we met, this announcement is still directed towards you.
There is a matter of utmost importance that I feel all of you need to be made aware of. I have arranged a meet up at Ronald Knox's temple so that we can discuss the issue and come up with potential solutions. Please arrive to the temple of Baron Samdi by 7 p.m. so that we can make the most of our time. Thank you.
Part 2 - The Meeting
[ William finally stands up in front of where everyone's busy chitchatting. He's clearing his throat, attempting to get their attention and already looking pretty peeved. And it's not even because of the topic he needs to discuss, or the fact that it's well past 7:45 and they haven't even begun yet. Nope, the main reason for the crease in his brow is because of the absurd jacket he was forced to wear this evening. Not his usual black dress coat, but a lovely gold sequined one that nearly makes him glow in the brightly lit room. He has no idea how the eyesore of a garment found its way into his possession, once more, but he wouldn't be wearing it if he didn't have a good reason to. ]
Everyone. If you could all please have a seat. We are already behind schedule.
Part 3 - The Mixer
[ Now that William's concerns have been made aware, it seems that the event has evolved into more of a reaper shindig. Ronald has set up appetizers and has plenty of booze available. It's almost as if he'd planned this from the beginning. ]
(( ooc: mingle mingle mingle! Feel free to tag and threadjack around! Discuss the issue at hand or ignore William and just build cr with your fellow reapers! Party crashers are always welcome, too! ))

[He trails off. Of course it's important. Who he is, he can live with now. Who he is is about what he chooses to do, who he knows, and all the little things he learns about himself, like enjoying sushi and sweets, or not liking his ties done up too tight.
What he is might not mean anything about who he is, but then again, it could. And he doesn't know, except that whatever it is, it's not human.]
... yeah. Yeah, it's important to me.
[The ice clinks again in his glass as he squares his shoulders.]
I know I'm not human. There's my energy, and the way I heal. But I look human, except for my eyes....
no subject
Toushirou could almost relate to him, honestly. How would he be now if he didn't have any recollection of who he is and what made him who he is today.
The only reason why he's tentative around Tsuzuki is for the very reason that he doesn't want the shinki to experience anything that might cause himself to question his existence even more.
But it's always important to know one's own identity.]
Your eyes?
no subject
And it's not that normal a color.
no subject
He looks at Tsuzuki's eyes.]
No, but it's part of who you are. Are you embarrassed over them?
no subject
-- I don't know.
[He reaches up, absently, tracing a finger under one of his eyes.]
They're a pretty color, right? [That sounds downright insincere. He hears it in his own voice, and laughs a little, letting his hand fall back to his side.]
It's just hard for me to believe people won't think they're weird.
no subject
[Really, he could understand this, and he peers up at him.]
But you shouldn't allow what other people think of you to affect you.
no subject
[He blows out a breath, and looks up, summoning a smile that starts out false before slowly growing genuine, and a little lopsided.]
It still does, though. -- Thanks. For saying that. [Even if it's insincere: but he doesn't think it is. And it doesn't seem to matter to most people here what he is, or if what he is turns out not to be human after all. It's okay.]
What people I like think of me matters more.
no subject
[For the people you like to like you back.
Either way, this has entered a territory that Toushirou realized he shouldn't have stepped into.]
In the meantime, you should enjoy yourself since this ended out turning to be a party, after all.
no subject
Yeah, sorry! I didn't mean to --
[Unload all of that on him. He hadn't asked for it, anyway. Tsuzuki's fine; the people he cares about care about him right back; no one he's told that he's not human even thinks that matters. Maybe he's the only one who worries about it after all.
He should just get over it already.]
Yeah. The drinks are pretty good... uh, do you drink?
[Hitsugaya might act like an adult, and Tsuzuki doesn't have any problem believing he is, but physically? Physically's probably what matters for alcohol tolerance, he looks like a teenager, and he'd gotten tea at the sushi place.]
They've got some nonalcoholic stuff, too.
[He hefts his drink.] Like fruit punch.
[Which doesn't have to be doctored with vodka.]
no subject
[Especially since Toushirou is a natural case for worrying about people he deems to be his comrades, anyway.
A look, though, at the mention of drinking.]
...I do drink, but only on some occasions. [He's definitely not new to liquor, not with how his own lieutenant might try to con him into drinking sometimes. But he does drink a up or two usually in celebration.
But he looks slightly amused.]
I'd rather something with watermelon, to be honest.
no subject
[Put it in a blender, he guesses. With rum and lime? Everything's good with rum and lime.]
I guess there's watermelon soda flavors....
no subject
[He chuckles.]
There are, just not a lot. Either way, I'm going to go home since it's gotten too rowdy in here for me.
no subject
I guess I'll stick around till I finish this off, anyway. Hey, if you ever want to try an experimental drink, I work at a bar down in the Tokyo suburbs -- that same one that was advertising shinki days a while back....
no subject
If it's just shinki days, then I don't imagine gods aren't very welcomed.
no subject
[Gojyo's goddess was there just the other day, in fact, bailing the both of them out of an unfortunate incident with trapped ayakashi and a really badly made storeroom ceiling.
It's fine, everybody lived, he's gotten almost all the plaster dust out of the corners, anyway.]
That's like saying because a bar has a girls' night men aren't welcome to drink there.
no subject
I'm kidding, Tsuzuki.
[...What kind of sketchy bar do you work in?
He gives a nod.]
If that's the case, then I'll try to stop by at least once.
no subject
But hey, at least the booze is strong. Shitty, but strong.]
Let me know in advance and I'll have a watermelon drink on hand.
no subject
I will. Enjoy the rest of the party then. [And with that, he'll leave before he ends up being dragged into unwanted conversations with anyone else.]
