Who: D2 & Forrest
When: August 5th
Where: Lakshmi's Temple
What: Grell and Will returning causes some feelings that needs to be dealt with by talking about them. Which is, you know, the most fun thing in the world.
[ This thing where gods and shinki can simply disappear all of a sudden is a thing D2 has experienced a couple times already. His two previous gods both disappeared. The other shinki of his previous god also disappeared. Riku returning after being gone a month, not remembering a thing about being in the Far Shore before, only to disappear again not much later. Grell returning also about a month after she disappeared, with all memories intact. William returning with no memories of the Far Shore but with all of the memories from before that.
Grell and Will just got back, D2 met them both and learned of their memory situations today. He was happy to see them, of course he was, but he also....had other feelings that he had suppressed and ignored while talking to the two gods. But he knew that he couldn't ignore them forever and though he was worried about how Forrest might react to these worries he's sort of had for some time... He needs to talk to him, because the feeling of guilt had hit him pretty hard. And that was dangerous for the both of them.
So he returns to the temple earlier than he usually would on training day, looking for his current god. He can't find him inside and if he goes out to search the grounds Forrest might come inside without him noticing, so he sits down at the wall in the main entrance, fiddling with his phone and ignoring the reflections of gold in the screen, rewriting a message (that really just says things like "can we talk?") to Forrest over and over while he wonders if he should just call him instead while he hopes he could just talk to him face to face, or he might run from the conversation for a while. Which he knows that he can. not. do. ]

Oh! Hello, D2. Is something wrong?
[He does seem to have a concerned expression on his face, after all.]
no subject
[ It's not dire right now but that doesn't mean that it can't get worse if he doesn't say anything. Otherwise he wouldn't find him to talk about this. At least Forrest didn't sense it? It seems. If it had been bad he would have been in pain, probably. ]
Just a little?
no subject
You can talk to me about anything. Here, help me with these groceries.
[He hands over one of the bags he was carrying with a supportive little smile and a nod. Best to take things slow and gentle and let D2 open up on his own. It worked well enough with Psyche, after all.]
no subject
He takes the bag as he gets on his feet and pockets his phone, and follows him further into the temple. His grip on the bag is tight. ]
Yeah.. Um, well um, my, um, previous god came back today. And her exemplar, as a god.
no subject
Ah... I see.
[The response may be a bit of a hint that Forrest has been feeling the effects of D2's worry, considering the tone.]
Were you thinking of returning to her service?
no subject
[ He didn't return to Riku when he returned (though since he disappeared again almost instantly, he would have had to find another person again)...but maybe it partially was because Riku didn't remember anything. He can understand how Forrest might ask him that, though. ]
no subject
But there's still something bothering you, isn't there?
no subject
[ Gods can sense their shinki’s emotions, given if they’re intense enough. He pulls items from the bag and puts them away, as long as he knows where they’re supposed to go. ]
My first god disappeared just about a month after he named me. So did my second, as well as her Exemplar. Now those two show up again just about a month after that. It’s sort of... I don’t know, but I..worry… That you and Psyche’ll disappear soon too, because it’s been about the same amount of time since you named me. I feel a little like I bring bad luck to the gods I have and I’m...guilty over not having mentioned it right away.

[It's said a bit sheepishly, but Forrest's expression quickly turns serious as D2 starts to explain. And then turns to a frown.]
I see.
[He's not entirely sure what else to say.]
I can't promise you that won't happen again... well, I could, but I'd be lying. But I can promise you that as long as I am here, I'll do whatever I can to help you feel safe and comfortable.
no subject
I know.
[ If Forrest said that it won’t happen again, D2 probably would have lost a fair amount of respect and trust in him. Because he knows far too well how easy it is for gods and shinki to disappear. ]
Thanks. For those words.
no subject
[Forrest nods back at him with a small smile.]
If there's ever anything on your mind, you can always come to me with it.
no subject
[ Really. He knows they can't do anything about it, anyway. ]
Yeah. Thanks.
