What: Because sneak attacking is fun and encouraged by their twin


[ Catching Izumo by surprise couldn’t be that hard. It wasn’t like he always had his guard up and they were best friends so surely Goten could get a good punch or tackle in easily.

Shizuo better of not warned him somehow, otherwise that’d be totally unfair!

With confidence bubbling, the young shinki sets out on his goal: to hit Izumo by surprise! As long as it wasn’t while he was working, cooking, sleeping or helping someone then anything was fair game! It’s a shame but he doesn’t think using a water gun would count either. Punches, kicks, tackles, ki blasts were all fair game though.

Time to do this! No way he'd need more then a day or so. He just had to find that perfect chance and take it!

[Goten isn’t the most inconspicuous. Even if it is normal for him to spend copious amounts of time following Izumo and hanging around with him it’s with a goal in mind that he’s a bit more fidgety. It’s hard to not think about or casually glance over and stare. How is he supposed to find an opening if he isn’t watching him? It’s supposed to be a surprise.

His eyes briefly glance around. They were in the bar and Shizuo did say no fighting inside. That was one of Izumo’s rules too. Looking back to Izumo, practically staring a hole into the back of the bartender's shirt, Goten sits up.]

Izumo, let’s go do something! I’m bored. No one but us is here anyway so you don’t have to work or anything right?

[It really isn't surprising for Goten to hang around Izumo so much. There's a reason why people are often surprised whenever they're not together.

However, this is...different.

Izumo raises an eyebrow at him.]

Well, you're right about that. [Today is one of the bar's closing days, so it's not really surprising people haven't really come in. But:] What did you want to do?

[sonofson]

Uh...

[There's lots of things but he does have to think about it this time. It has to be something that Izumo won't be expecting him to dash at him. So the obvious answer comes first:]

Not training or fighting. Anything besides that.

[Grin]

...No training or fighting?

[Goten, what happened?

Izumo looks at him in concern.]

Is something the matter?

[sonofson]

Huh? Nothing the matter. Why would you ask that?

[He blinks and holds his hands up, waving them a bit as if that will reassure Izumo. Did he say something wrong?]


I just, um, wanna do something else today. That's all!

You never pass up the chance to train or fight.

[So yes, it seems to be quite a curious matter.]

...What do you want to do then?

[sonofson]

Yeah I do...

[You know, when food is around and...stuff. Maybe that was weird of him to say. Still, he does his best to reassure the other shinki]

Hang out with you.

[He hops down from his seat at the bar before trying to peer back over to Izumo]

What do you wanna do? It should be...something that's relaxing for you! Out of the bar...

When have you ever passed the chance, especially since you've been wanting to train when I woke up.

[Goten, what are you planning?

...."Out of the bar..."

He gives him a long look as if trying to figure something out.]

Relaxing, huh? [Izumo really is suspicious now.] How about we go take a walk then?

[sonofson]

...Why are you asking so many questions?

[Really Izumo. He's not doing anything suspicious. Just the usual things. Why is this so hard?

Goten perks at the mention of a walk though. That would be the best! Out of the bar and out for a relaxing stroll---then bam!]

Yeah! Yeah! Let's go for a walk. That's a really good idea Izumo.

[He grins, looking thrilled by just the idea. It's perfect!]

C'mon, let's go. There's no time to waste.

[If Izumo doesn't start moving, Goten looks about ready to run over and carry him if he has to. ]

Because it's a bit strange for you to act like this.

[But he supposes this means he should just keep an eye on Goten better.

A slow nod before he begins making his way out of the bar, gesturing for the other shinki to follow.]

[sonofson]

Huh? But I'm not being strange, I'm...just being me! You're the one being weird...

[Goten huffs a bit at him before following along quickly, practically jogging]

[toremainbehind]

Whatever you say, Goten.

[He waits until Goten exits the bar before he locks it up.

Satisfied, he'll start walking again.]

[sonofson]

[And he'll follow along side at least for the time being. He keeps glancing up at Izumo before looking away and then slowly but surely, looking up at him again and staring.]

. . . .

[This is the most uncomfortable walk Goten has ever taken....he's way to antsy for this. It isn't relaxing at all.]

Goten, you're staring.

[Honestly, what are you up to?]

[sonofson]

Huh?

[He blinks slowly. Then blinks at him. Oh hey, he is still looking at Izumo so maybe he was staring a little?]

Oh!

[He laughs nervously, lifting a hand to scratch the back of his head as he forces himself to look away. Problem solved he's not staring. Just keeping his eyes forward. Why is this so hard? He sneaks another glance at Izumo after a moment]

Oh uh, I think I saw something! Something cool! Y-Yeah! I'm gonna go check it out!!

[And with that he's sprinting off ahead at a really dumb high rate of speed. BYE IZUMO]

Ah--Goten?

[Izumo slows to a stop, bemused by what's happened.

Honestly, why was the other acting so strange today?

He frowns a bit, watching Goten before he sighs, deciding to use the time to have a smoke.]

[sonofson]

[He'll circle back around after a good ten or twenty minutes. Far enough he's sure not even Izumo's amazing eye sight would catch him. All that just to get around behind him.

Goten stares at the back at Izumo's head, tip toeing up closer to him. Just a one punch. Just one punch. He can see the smoke from Izumo's cigarette so that obviously means the man is distracted or relaxed right?....he hopes so.

Silently counting down in his head, Goten takes a breath before kicking off the ground and launching himself at the man. SNEAK ATTACKS FROM BEHIND NEVER FAIL!

[....

And there it is.

The one problem with Goten's plan is that since he's already been acting weird, Izumo's a bit on edge. The fact Goten decided to do a sneak attack from behind?

Blowing out smoke, Izumo's Aura activates itself almost unconsciously this time, and he flicks his cigarette into the air before sparks of fireballs come out before aiming for Goten.]

[sonofson]

!!!!

[There's a surprise yell as Goten tries to skid to a stop despite being in the air. The fire balls come too unexpectedly that he never even considered it happening. They easily collide with a flailing Goten that drops to the ground after.

OW.

He's not hurt, at least nothing he hasn't taken before. Just a bit roasted and ego bruised. He slowly sits up as he pats down his dirty gi to make sure he's not on fire]

So.

[He takes out another cigarette, turning and walking over to Goten.]

What was that about, Goten?

[sonofson]

[Goten stares up at him before he flashes a guilty smile - caught. Not going to answer that though. Not when he still has time]

How'd you know I was behind you?

[A question for a question]

[He raises an eyebrow.]

It's a bit hard not to sense you coming at me.

[sonofson]

[He doesn't get it. Izumo can't sense energy too, can he?]

But I was moving fast and everything...

Aug 12th

[sonofson]

[Okay this time for sure! He learned from his mistakes and maybe one of those was hanging out with Izumo for as long as he did yesterday. So no greeting or hanging out today, just following.

It took him a little bit to locate the older shinki but it wasn't too difficult, he keeps behind him and stays high in the sky. If he's not creeping up to Izumo by foot, then his friend can't hear him. It's foolproof!]

I'm always on my guard. Besides, you were acting weird, so I thought it'd be good to stay on the defensive just in case.
