What: Because sneak attacking is fun and encouraged by their twin


[ Catching Izumo by surprise couldn’t be that hard. It wasn’t like he always had his guard up and they were best friends so surely Goten could get a good punch or tackle in easily.

Shizuo better of not warned him somehow, otherwise that’d be totally unfair!

With confidence bubbling, the young shinki sets out on his goal: to hit Izumo by surprise! As long as it wasn’t while he was working, cooking, sleeping or helping someone then anything was fair game! It’s a shame but he doesn’t think using a water gun would count either. Punches, kicks, tackles, ki blasts were all fair game though.

Time to do this! No way he'd need more then a day or so. He just had to find that perfect chance and take it!

Aug 11th

[sonofson]

[Goten isn’t the most inconspicuous. Even if it is normal for him to spend copious amounts of time following Izumo and hanging around with him it’s with a goal in mind that he’s a bit more fidgety. It’s hard to not think about or casually glance over and stare. How is he supposed to find an opening if he isn’t watching him? It’s supposed to be a surprise.

His eyes briefly glance around. They were in the bar and Shizuo did say no fighting inside. That was one of Izumo’s rules too. Looking back to Izumo, practically staring a hole into the back of the bartender's shirt, Goten sits up.]

Izumo, let’s go do something! I’m bored. No one but us is here anyway so you don’t have to work or anything right?

[It really isn't surprising for Goten to hang around Izumo so much. There's a reason why people are often surprised whenever they're not together.

However, this is...different.

Izumo raises an eyebrow at him.]

Well, you're right about that. [Today is one of the bar's closing days, so it's not really surprising people haven't really come in. But:] What did you want to do?

[sonofson]

Uh...

[There's lots of things but he does have to think about it this time. It has to be something that Izumo won't be expecting him to dash at him. So the obvious answer comes first:]

Not training or fighting. Anything besides that.

[Grin]

[toremainbehind]

...No training or fighting?

[Goten, what happened?

Izumo looks at him in concern.]

Is something the matter?

[sonofson]

Huh? Nothing the matter. Why would you ask that?

[He blinks and holds his hands up, waving them a bit as if that will reassure Izumo. Did he say something wrong?]


I just, um, wanna do something else today. That's all!

You never pass up the chance to train or fight.

[So yes, it seems to be quite a curious matter.]

...What do you want to do then?

[sonofson]

Yeah I do...

[You know, when food is around and...stuff. Maybe that was weird of him to say. Still, he does his best to reassure the other shinki]

Hang out with you.

[He hops down from his seat at the bar before trying to peer back over to Izumo]

What do you wanna do? It should be...something that's relaxing for you! Out of the bar...

Aug 12th

[sonofson]

[Okay this time for sure! He learned from his mistakes and maybe one of those was hanging out with Izumo for as long as he did yesterday. So no greeting or hanging out today, just following.

It took him a little bit to locate the older shinki but it wasn't too difficult, he keeps behind him and stays high in the sky. If he's not creeping up to Izumo by foot, then his friend can't hear him. It's foolproof!]

[Honestly, with how Goten's been acting lately, Izumo can't help but continue being on edge.

He's tried his best to keep himself busy of course, and one of those things he was doing today just happened to be doing some supply runs. However, he can't help but feel as if he's being watched, causing him to look around curiously as if expecting someone to pop out.]

[sonofson]

[Goten freezes briefly when he spots him looking around. Luckily...up doesn't seem to be one of those direction. Narrowing his eyes in determination, Goten flies a bit higher as he gets directly above the blond.]

Now or never....

[Waiting for Izumo to start moving again and just look ahead, Goten counts down to himself before suddenly blasting down towards the older shinki. He kicks it into full speed with his ki radiating around him for an extra burst.]

[Something really does feel off to him, especially considering how quiet things have been.

He frowns a bit, trying to figure out what it is, but he keeps on walking. It's only when his senses seem to tingle that he abruptly stops.]

[sonofson]

[There's a very abrupt ZOOOOOOOOOOOOOM the flies over Izumo's head. He might catch a flash of orange or blue as the blur speeds by him and crashes hard into the ground where he would have been standing had he not stopped. The impact makes crater as Goten practically ends up borrowing a hole from the force. Whoops.]

Goten?

[A startled blink before he goes over to check on the younger shinki.]

Aug 13

[sonofson]

[How did he forget about Umbra?!

It actually hit him when he was eating breakfast with Aymeric that morning. He nearly choked on the food from bolting as quickly as he had. Beating on his chest and chugging down the glass of juice and he was fine.

Hopefully it wasn't too concerning to his god when he hopped down from his seat, grabbed a few sandwiches and said something about needing to catch up with Izumo. He waved back to Aymeric as he stuffed another sandwich into his mouth before blasting off.]

[The paranoia was definitely growing.

Now that he knows that whatever is going on with Goten has to do with Shizuo, it's not really doing well for Izumo to lower his guard. In fact, by now, he's almost expecting Goten to try and attack him again.

A sigh escapes from him as he takes his usual walk.]

[sonofson]

[As usual, Goten is quick to find the older shinki. It's almost like clockwork, Goten isn't the most sneaky or the best at making less-obvious plans--but he's trying! This isn't his style. He'd rather just be straightforward about hitting Izumo like he is with everything else.

But Shizuo said surprise attack and that's just what he's going to do.

Dropping down once he spots Izumo below, he mutters the spells name to activate it. He had used this spell once in front of Izumo before but maybe he forgot that Goten could do it? He hopes so!

Tiptoe-jogging over to him, Goten creeps closer, completely invisible]

[The sense of him being followed starts to cause the skin on the back of his neck to prickle.

There's an initial cursory glance, but he can at least tell for sure that whoever's following him doesn't have any ill intent. It makes him breathe out, a hand running through his hair, but he keeps on walking.]

[He's just got to wait for the right moment!

This time, at least to Goten, it seems like Izumo doesn't notice him. Good! He's so glad Yukine taught him Umbra. Shizuo said he could use his powers to catch Izumo by surprise so this had to count too.

With the boost of confidence he tip-toes closer, practically following right behind the older shinki, fist clenching absently]

[The sense of being followed prickles at Izumo quickly.

He breathes out, remembering briefly about the time wherein the last time he got this sense was when he ended up in a training with Sharak, Shizuo, and Goten.

A blink as he keeps on walking.]

Hm, I wonder what I should cook for dinner tonight. Maybe I should invite Aymeric and Goten over. [It's a musing aloud, but his right hand takes out his lighter, idly playing with it.]

Aug 14th - EARLY morning-ish after bar closing

[DETERMINED AS EVER.

This time, Goten is waiting outside the bar for Izumo. He may have made the mistake of not visiting him and playing things off but Goten isn't the best at acting or lying. He peers over the roof top, waiting for Izumo to come out or exit the building.

Why is the bar open so late? He feels like he's going to fall asleep at this rate.]

[By the time Izumo does come out of the building, he's on the phone with someone, talking quietly.

He doesn't seem to notice Goten just yet, but by now, Goten should know better than to think it means that the older shinki has his defenses down. He does however seem fixated on whoever he's on the phone with, most likely talking about supply runs and whatnot for the bar.]

[This time for sure!

Goten's eyes narrow and he ducks down a bit when he hears the door open and then spots Izumo. Okay, think out of the box. He can do that!

Floating off the roof top, Goten quietly hovers over head, Nimbus following in tow now that he's in the air. He had called for the cloud earlier. If Izumo was expecting just goten, maybe this would be enough of a surprise! They just need to get a little further from the building so not to accidently damage it, then its game on!]

[As he continues to speak on the phone, ending the call, Izumo blinks a bit when he feels as if something is off - again.

He sighs, shrugs and starts to walk away from the bar, his attention on the phone as he focuses on texting someone or perhaps looking through the network to see if anything's happened again.]

[sonofson]

[Goten slows so he can fly next to Nimbus. He presses his face into the fluff of a cloud, whispering something.]

....Got it?

[Nimbus does a little bop, seeming to understand for the most part. He shifts his attention back to Izumo and points at him. That's the signal!

Nimbus zooms down towards the older shinki, aiming for the back of his legs in hopes of knocking him backwards. If Izumo does fall, he will land on a soft cloud....depending on how pure of heart he is, it probably won't hold him for long before dropping him and then zooming away. But Goten doesn't need much time, he's already above Izumo, charging up and shooting strong ki blast at him.

[At least Goten took his words to heart, if only because he really wasn’t expecting Nimbus to try to knock him backwards.

It’s enough to catch him off guard, falling backwards and quickly passing through the cloud as if it was never there at all. It takes Izumo a bit to collect himself, enough that he manages to avoid the blast enough not to get too hurt, but still not completely unscathed.

He blinks a bit as he assesses the damage on him from the ki blast before he looks over at Goten.]

That’s a new one.
