Who: Temeraire & Alex
Where: Oshun’s Temple
What: A day at home with take out
Alex was starting to get the hang of this whole flying thing, or rather, the dragon riding thing. Thankfully they were about ti have a collar made that Alex could latch herself on to. It wasn’t an experience she could describe with words, but she’s never done anything more thrilling... or more freeing. She didn’t think of anything while she was up there. It was amazing, seeing things from Temeraire’s eyes.
While he gave her the dragon experience, she gave him the human experience. Which was why they stopped by to get some take out. It still baffled her that no one could notice the dragon seated in the parking lot. Thenahain, flying back hime with a paper bag of fastfood was just as strange.
“Thank you for the ride, Tem. It was...amazing as always.” Again, no words. Alex slid down the side after unlatching herself from his collar.

More interesting was the scent wafting from Alex's paper bag. There was certainly a scent like cooked beef, and hot oil; others as well, that might perhaps be spice, or sauce. He put his tongue out, flickering not so close as to actually lick her or the bag, but close enough to taste the scents on the air.
"That smells very good," he said, unable to quite hide the hopeful suggestion in his voice. "Shouldn't we eat it before it gets cold?"
no subject
We should. Come, Gaki.
[She waits till he turns into his vessel form before heading inaide the building and into the dining area. Placing the bag on the table, she takes out the hamburgers, the fries, and the milkshakes. She got him some nuggets to so he could try those. Not the healthiest meal, but Tem did say he wantes to try all sorts of things. Part of her wonders if she should’ve gotten him the happy meal. He might’ve been amused by the toy.]
Ah, make sure to wash your hands.
[Which she’ll get to doing now herself.]

He does drop the soap into the sink several times as he tries to wash his hands, but he recovers it and puts it back into the soap dish at last, and, in his defense, it is very slippery.
Finished washing up at last, he turns the water off, and sniffs his hands to be certain they've been rinsed. The scent of the soap lingers, but only just a little, so he decides it will probably be all right, and pulls out a chair to settle down.]
What country is this food from?
[Temeraire plants his elbows on the table and leans forward. If he had a tail, it would be swishing with excitement.]

[She calls out as she takes her turn to wash her hands. When she walks back, she swears she could see his tail wagging from the way he leaned in eagerly. She chuckles, taking a seat.]
Go on, try it.

[He knows a little about America, he thinks; but not much. Perhaps he's never been there.
Curiously, he reaches for one of the bags of food, pulling out and carefully starting to unwrap one of the hamburgers. The paper rips several times before he gives up and just pulls it free, then takes a cautious bite.
He chews several times, blinking.]
What is that sauce?

[Alex watches his face.]
Do...you like it? The burger?
no subject
[He takes another, larger bite.]
But I like it very much.
[--and, swallowing almost without chewing, manages to almost choke himself on a piece of bun and has to cough hastily into his hand. Ah yes. Humans have to savor their food.]

Here, drink!

It's cold. He doesn't expect that, and he particularly doesn't expect the way it sends a chilly spike of surprising pain right between his eyes. He drops the hamburger back onto the table and clutches at his head, wincing.]
Ow....
no subject
[Too late.]
Sorry, Tem...I should have warned you about brain freezes..
no subject
Is it fatal?
[Surely, freezing your brain would be... although he's not sure if that would be the same when you are already dead.
Humans are very fragile.]
no subject
You'll be fine. It'll go away. Just go a little easy on the food and drinks there, okay?
[It was adorable though, how he just wolfed it all down like a kid.]
no subject
[He eyes the milkshake as though he has been betrayed, rubbing his forehead.]
... I will wait a little.
[The flavor, as the pain begins to ebb, is very good, though. He licks his lips thoughtfully.] \
Why does that happen?
