[Welcome to Die Jagd! For those who know German, it literally translates to 'The Hunt', which is what this place is all about. The menu is filled with descriptions in German and English as to what is being served, all of it traditional hunters fare. So that means lots of meat. Venison, boar, bison, other traditional hunted birds, and some exotic meats for those who are curious (think alligator and snake)!

Of course there's other German and European dishes too, such as various salads using wild greens, meals using anything you might find in the woods, and so on. Of course, if asked politely, the chef will work with dietary restrictions. Other requests can be made as long as it's on par with what might be found in this kind of place.

The decor might not be the most inviting, and those from the Far Shore will notice that some of these animals... aren't quite animals. If one thinks a chunk of chimera or unicorn is an animal, then by all means, think it so. There's decor to note who the god is that owns this place, a trident elaborately carved out of wood over the mantel of a rustic fireplace. And please. Don't mind the cats coming in and out of the place at times.]

[Want to talk directly to the person making your food? Well, he'll be in and out of the kitchen on occasion to check on things or to throw some cats out who might be getting in the way. Or you can be brave and take a peek into the kitchen... It looks very modern compared to the rest of the place. And then you'll be shooed out unless you work there by a soulless shinki with the name tag "Hi! I'm Mark!" attached to it.

Either way, as long as you aren't getting in his way, Nari is up for conversation.]

[Sakon sticks his head into the kitchen, menu in hand. He can't actually read a word of it, though he can kind of figure out what's supposed to be the name of a kind of meat just from what words repeat between the two languages.]

What's an alligator?

[Before the shinki can shoo this new person out, Nari comes over and gently shoves Mark aside. This is enough of a hint for the souless shinki to go back to what it was doing.

Nari holds a finger up and pulls his phone out, bringing up a picture.]

This is an alligator. It has a similar taste and texture to chicken, but anyone with a good palate can tell it's not chicken. It's pretty good.

[Sakon gapes at the picture in horror.]

How would anyone figure that out?!

[Admittedly, an angry chicken is pretty intimidating in its own right, but it's also much smaller than that giant lizard thing...]

What do you mean? Someone killed one one day, and decided it was a waste of meat not to eat it. I mean, people eat snakes and tarantulas. Why not fry up a gator?

They're kinda crunchy, but I'm not too fond of the taste myself.

[Humans eat anything that won't kill them. And even then there's exception, like fugu...]

I fried some gator up if ya wanna taste test before ordering.

[That's a really hard choice to make. On one hand, he's not sure he really wants to develop a taste for giant evil lizard, but on the other hand, there's nothing that doesn't taste good if you fry it.

Also free food is the tastiest kind of food.

Okay, that's an important point to consider.]

[Good that you chose willingly, because Nari is already holding out a skewer with fried pieces of gator on them. It smells good and looks like a chicken skewer almost.]

This is the plain batter, but I make them spicy too upon request.

[Hope you don't mind Izumo taking a peek in the kitchen. He's holding himself differently in a way that makes sense if he's injured, taking care not to move too much or jostle any healing injuries he received from Grell recently. However, when he sees Nari, he gives him a smile in greeting.]

[At least Mark won't try and shoo Izumo out. Despite being a soulless shinki, and Nari proclaiming he's an idiot, the creature recognizes someone he's seen before. Nari does look a tad surprised to see Izumo though. He's been so busy and not exactly talking to people that he had thought the other man would have moved on to someone more social for sure...]

Huh? Oh. Yeah. I guess I am? [He wipes his hands on a towel before walking over.] Need help with anything?

[Sorry Nari, but Izumo doesn't particularly "move on" from people. He has the tendency to reach out to the people he's met before, trying to form a connection with them.]

I saw your message on the network, so I thought I'd come check it out.

[It's an actual social call... Nari bites the inside of his lip to calm down a still somewhat strange feeling of happiness. Urashima so far has been the only recipient in this world that's made this pop up, and it's still rare.]

Really? So what do you think? Tried not to make the decor too tacky.

I like it. Definitely has a different feel, but not enough to make someone feel unwelcome here.

[Izumo blinks once.]

Are you sure you have time to sit and talk? I don't want to bother you too long if you're busy.

I tried to kind of style it like the places I remember going to as a kid. Except less lederhosen and flowery designs.

[Nari nods, gesturing to a table nearby.]

Don't serve dinner for a while, so it's prep time. Got most of that done already. Mark is pretty handy when it comes to heavy lifting. Want something to drink?

[Considering he was the one asking about the need for extra dishwashers, Davesprite figures he might as well take the initiative and show up to the restaurant relatively promptly. The particular manner of the decor has him pausing for a moment after he enters, though, because he can't help but feel he falls a bit too closely to some of these mythical creatures to not be a bit concerned.

He's still kind of looking at one of the mounted decorations when he heads over to talk to Nari.]

I dunno whether I should be offended or not, but hey, I'm here to fulfil the glorious duties of dish cleansing, or at least learn how you do it here.

Huh? Offended? [Is it the unicorn?] Nah, don't be. Everything that's stuffed and mounted here were human killers. Part of my job as a hunter is to keep people safe along with fed.

Noted, though I'm obliged to be at least five percent offended just on principle about anything you have in here with wings anyway. [Because he sure does sound offended, and totally not just deadpan as usual.

With that matter out of the way, though, he spreads his hands as if making some kind of grand gesture.] Anyway. Dishwashing. Career choice of the highest order. That was a thing that was happening.

I guess putting a stuffed griffin out was a little thoughtless... [So is the unicorn, but no one will get mad at that. Maybe.

With a nod, he motions Davesprite to follow him into the kitchen. It's spacious enough that if wings need to be stretched on occasion, there's room for it.] So it's pretty simple. There's a rinse station, the actual machine that does the washing, and then the racks to put the dishes on. Pots and pans are unfortunately hand-wash because of their size and shape.

[Yeah, Davesprite may or may not have noticed the unicorn. He can't think of why Celestia would show up to a Near Shore restaurant, but still. He follows Nari into the kitchen anyway, surveying the setup.]

Makes sense. Having an actual dishwasher in not the "person who washes the dishes" terms still puts you a step above some places, I'm pretty sure.

I know. But she's tiny and that thing I shot was huge, and I doubt she's gored a kid for playing to close to its favorite watering hole. Unicorns are not as nice as people think they are. [They are picky dicks.

Shrugging, Nari shows how to turn it on.]

It's more efficient than just hand washing, and keeps more clean dishes on hand. Practicality and efficiency are best in a restaurant.

Yeah, but my point is that if she finds out about this you are probably kind of fucked, my dude. [He somehow doubts Celestia would react well to seeing a mounted unicorn, regardless of his reasons for hunting it. Or hearing about one, for that matter.]

Yeah, I figured that was why, but some people just don't want efficiency even when it's slapping them in the face.
