What: PRAYERS. Someone prayed to the Messenger of the Gods for allergy relief.
When: Afternoon of April 3rd.

[Sonic expected his first prayer to be a little bit more... well, in line with his overall divine theme. But help with allergy relief? Apparently the caduceus was frequently mistaken for the Rod of Asclepius, but his followers ought to be fully aware that he was no medical expert.]

[Still, there's a job to do, and he's going to do it to the best of his abilities, one way or another. Which is why he's standing outside a slightly run down apartment with Ekko by his side]

Because my abilities to make allergies "go away" is fairly limited, my plan is to go check out the apartment, see what they've tried already, and... I don't know, steal an air filter for them, what do you think?

[Ekko doesn't look too happy about this nonsense, but apparently he needs to come along, so he did.

He was expecting something more fight-y, but maybe that's asking for too much.]

... I don't know, I've never had allergies.

[mybadhabit]

[he sighs and shakes his head] I know small things you can do for them, but they're the sort of thing that anyone can do. You don't need to be a god to wear a mask or take antihistamines. The only thing that would prevent you from doing so is if you can't afford such things.

[He glances over the building with a small frown] Which may end up being the case. Come on, let's get this over with.

[He tests the door to the building, his frown deepening as it swings right open] There isn't even a lock.

[chronobreak]

[Again, he shrugs. He's never had a problem with them, and he's not sure he's ever met anybody who did.]

Seems dangerous, leaving your door open like that. You think their apartment's wide open too?

Easier for us, I guess, but that's just inviting thieves.

[mybadhabit]

Let's hope not, or I'm going to be installing locks for them too. [huff. It's one thing if the building is insecure, that's not his problem, but if he loses one of his followers to something like this, he's going to be peeved.]

[Luckily, once the reach the apartment, there's not only a lock, but a deadbolt too. And once Sonic has those picked, there's also-] Ah, a door chain! Smart! [He flicks at the chain hanging from the doorframe as he steps into the apartment, nodding in approval to himself] Not that it offers much protection when you're not home, but it never hurts to have.

Alright, you check the bathroom for allergy medicine - that's anything labelled antihistamines, loratadine, or cetirizine. They may also be using cold medicine, which is typically things like acetaminophen or ibuprofen. I'm going to scope out the rest of the apartment.

[chronobreak]

[So Ekko is/was a little bit of a criminal. But his criminal activities are mostly scavenging through dumpsters for useful scraps, fighting turf wars, and pissing off the Piltover Police force.

He raises an eye when Sonic manages to get into the apartment by fussing with the locks.

He does head towards the bathroom, but not before calling out-]

You know, I don't think I was a pharmacist in my past life.

[mybadhabit]

[Sonic sees that look, and raises an eyebrow back] What? I'm a ninja. Breaking and entering is the least of my crimes.

[He saunters to the little kitchenette, poking through the cabinets] That's why I gave you a list of things to look for, genius. Those are only over the counter medicines, but most people don't read the labels. They'll have names like Tylenol, NyQuil, Claritin, that sort of thing.

If you don't want to do that, then I have an errand I can send you on instead. They don't have any honey.

[chronobreak]

[Ekko rolls his eyes when he hears Sonic, he does go through the bathroom cabinet. At least some of this stuff isn't written in kanji. Two of the medicines he can pick out.]

They've got Claritin and Tylenol.

How close is the convenience store?

[mybadhabit]

No, not a convenience store, we need a farmer's market or maybe even a coffee shop. [He pulls out his phone and starts looking for the closest of either] Locally produced honey has trace amounts of allergens that can help build up an immunity, similar to vaccinations.

There's a park about a mile and a half that way with a farmer's market set up. [he points to the Northeast] Do you prefer to have money, or are you comfortable with just taking what you need?

[chronobreak]

Huh. Weird. [He'll file that piece of knowledge away for later.]

I've got ten fingers and nobody can see me. Couldn't catch me even if they could.

[mybadhabit]

That's what I was hoping to hear. [He gives Ekko a bit of a smirk, feeling proud of his shinki] See if you can find loose leaf tea, too - peppermint or chamomile, preferably. Don't be afraid to grab anything you want, either.

[Not that Ekko needs him to tell him that]

I'm going to get an air filter and a humidifier. Meet back here in 20 minutes?

[chronobreak]

Easy enough.

[He'll probably grab a snack or two before heading back.]

See you then, boss.

[mybadhabit]

[Sonic nods and heads out through the fire escape and up the side of the building. The nearest department store is a good distance away, and going over the rooftops will be easier than trying to run through people.]

[The hardest part about getting what he needs is finding where they keep the appliances. Sure, he could probably take them straight from the store front, but it'll take a lot longer for the store to notice something's missing if he takes it from the back room. It's just that the backroom is kind of a maze. He gets turned around several times before he finds what he came for, then takes off again, reaching the apartment with five minutes to spare]

[The first air filter in the main living space, where boxes and totes still line the walls, some open and only half unpacked. Once that's done, he heads to the cramped bedroom to set up a second air filter and the humidifier. He's brought up short by a corkboard that practically covers one whole wall, covered in a large global map with pins and yarn marking the path of travel. Polaroids of a dark skinned woman in various locations cluster together in the empty spaces of the map, smiling along side locals and landmarks alike.]

Oh...

[Ekko runs for the nearest farmer's market and easily swipes a jar of honey and some tea.

He's still having a rough time reading the kanji, but he'll just grab one box of each kind of tea and a bag when people aren't looking.

And just to round it off he'll steal a couple of cookies from the stall over before running back to the apartment building.]

[And then he walks into the room.]

Looks like your follower is some kinda stalker.

[He blink owlishly at Ekko, then snorts, scoffing and waving away the accusation]

Is that what you got from this? She's a traveler, Ekko. Remember how that's one of my domains?

This is her, see? [he taps one of the pictures, a selfie styled picture of the woman beaming up at the camera, a Greek statue in the background] She has caduceus earrings. And I think that statue is the last Hermes. [he taps the winged hat] I have that hat in my bedroom.

She must have just moved here, and that's why she's having such a hard time with the allergies.

[chronobreak]

[Look man, when you live in the slums, your first thought is gonna be whatever the sketchiest thing possible is. Every time.

He looks at the hat and... kinda tacky, actually. Hopefully Sonic doesn't try wearing it.]

I remember. [He'll hold out the bag, which is full of all kinds of tea and a medium jar of honey.]

[mybadhabit]

[He thinks it's kind of tacky too, which is why its staying in his room, along with the winged sandals. He can appreciate their strappy nature, but the wings are just too much.]

That looks good. Are you still having trouble with kanji?

There's no way I knew Japanese before showing up here.

[Yes.]

One of the bookshelves is dedicated to different languages back at the temple. Let's give it a look when we get back, see if there's a Japanese workbook you can practice with.

I'm going to set these last two things up, then leave a note. I'm not sure if there's anything else we can do besides make the living space a little more bearable, in this case.

[He'll take it and set it up easily enough. He can't quite read kanji, but when it comes to tech, he understands it almost instinctively.

So it's set up in a matter of minutes.]

[With the humidifier, it's most a case of filling the tank with water and plugging it in, so Sonic spends most of the time Ekko's playing with the air filter writing the note for his follower. When Ekko's finished, he holds out the slip of paper]

⚚ You'd be better off asking Xochipilli for allergy relief next time. I can only do so much when it comes to plants. Drink the chamomile tea with the honey, it'll help your immune system become accustomed to the unfamiliar pollen.

[he nods, leaving the note on the counter with the tea and honey, then heads towards the door] Do you think we should check in in a day or two, or just leave it at this? I don't know what more we can do.

You think we can do more later?

We can drop by if you think so.

[mybadhabit]

Not really, but it seems irresponsible to just... leave it like this. [he shrugs] We'll see. If we end up receiving a prayer of thanks in a day or two, I'll just leave it.
