Summary: Training and informational sessions for newly arrived gods and shinki



Gods and shinki arriving at heaven's meeting hall are, should they allow it, guided to Bishamon's temple, where a reception area and a traditionally styled dojo and training ground have been made available for the day. The gods and shinki are free to take their time during this day to learn about the details of their new life from Amaterasu's shinki or from the many veteran new god and shinki volunteers.




God Training

Newly arrived gods are escorted into a Western-styled reception hall within Bishamon's temple for an informational meeting covering the basics of proper god behavior, although the minor deity conducting the meeting is in too much of a rush to take questions afterwards. They are encouraged to discuss the information with each other and ask questions of more experienced gods, as well as instructed to guide their new shinki appropriately.

Shinki Training

Various shinki volunteers, both in the white-and-gold of Amaterasu's shinki and in Bishamon's red-piped black uniforms, are stationed around the dojo, passing out helpful informational pamphlets. They will be happy to instruct the newcomers in the use of the borderline as well as offering an explanantion on the basics of what is expected of a shinki and the importance of teamwork with other shinki and with gods. Shinki are encouraged to work together to practice what they've learned and discuss their perspectives.

Someone has brought two overflowing boxes of back issues of From Ama, the Heavenly magazine, which includes profiles of successful shinki and gods, historical tidbits, and the occasional magazine quiz to help shinki determine how well they're currently working with their god or what their greatest strength might be.

Physical Training

The dojo is stocked with a wide variety of practice weapons, traditional and modern, to offer some practice opportunity to gods who, for example, find themselves with a sword shinki but are at risk of cutting off their own toes. It's also useful for veteran new gods wishing to train with their current partner shinki.

This month, a clever shinki magician has created a dozen straw-stuffed training dummies, some with sword-length sticks and some with polearm-length sticks, that have been enchanted to really fight back. Unfortunately, the spell isn't perfect yet! They're good training partners, but sometimes they might go a little haywire and try to smack passersby.

Rest and Refreshments

Along with bottled water, there are several large boxes of energy drinks and vitamin drinks in small amber glass bottles, and an array of protein bars and meal bars. One particular shinki in white, a bespectacled twentysomething man, is explaining the health benefits of everything on the table (even the water!) with great enthusiasm to any guest who looks even a little confused. It takes great tact to discourage him.

Party games have been set up on the lawn near the refreshments table: Twister, Kubb, lawn Jenga, and more.

[ That's not pottery, that's glass. The fact that the guy's still doing this has Judar squirming and pulling to get out. ]

[ Zero, he will put his bare foot in your face to get out of this. In fact, that's what he's doing right now. ]

[ He'll move to grab that bare foot to promptly heft him up on his shoulder like a sack of potatoes. ]

[ What... Even is this situation? ]

What's wrong with you? Lemme down.

[ He's walking toward the mess you made. ]

Clean your mess.

[kuroi_taiyo]

Get some servant to clean it up- I've got better things to do.

[ You thought you knew pampered before, Zero. He'd rather try and get out of this hold- Let go of his wrist. ]

[moonlitknight]

No servants here.

[ Sorry but you're going to have to clean your own mess. So when he gets to where he's made the worst of it, he'll put him down. But he'll stand right there to make sure he doesn't try to dodge his duties. ]

[kuroi_taiyo]

Sure there are. Those other guys in white.

[ Oh good, he was put down. Except he's not making a single move to clean any of that up. He's so tactful, referring to the other shinki of those higher gods that are helping this whole event get run in the first place. ]

[moonlitknight]

It's not their mess.

[ He's not moving till you clean it. ]

[kuroi_taiyo]

Yeah, well I'm not dealing with it.

[ It looks like they're not moving. Unless you count him trying to pull his wrist free still. ]

[moonlitknight]

[ He lets him go but stands guard. ]

[kuroi_taiyo]

[ Well, it's about goddamn time. He'll sit there for a while, rubbing at his poor brutalized wrist. Time passes, and he's still there, not making any move to clean the mess.

If you wanna be a guard dog, then have fun, because Judar decided to stay stubborn in all of this. ]

[moonlitknight]

[ He's the wrong guy to try and out-stubborn, especially when he doesn't know you well enough to lose his temper, so he doesn't move, merely waits, playing your keeper for now. ]

[kuroi_taiyo]

[ Then it looks like they were staying there for quite a while.

Until the guy up and makes a break for it. ]

[moonlitknight]

[ He leans against the table, crosses his arms and waits. He has all day, kid. ]

[kuroi_taiyo]

[ Yeah, well...

He's booking it. Right now. He got up and turned around for running with way more ease than he probably should. It's fine, Zero. That's why they let him grow out his hair as long as it is. ]

[moonlitknight]

[ A smirk as he takes off. He's faster than he looks and within a blink of an eye he's in front of him and moving to grab him around the waist to pull him up off the ground. ]

[kuroi_taiyo]

[ See, yanking his braid and pulling him back would've been more normal. This was weird and humiliating.

In fact, it's why there's knees and bare feet digging in as Judar tries climbing out of this hold. ]

Hands off! Just go back to the hole you came out from and leave me alone you weird albino.

[moonlitknight]

[ The smirk doesn't leave as his knees and bare feet go through him, his density selectively lowered enough to phase through him. ]

Clean up your mess.

[ You see, he's rather insistent about this. ]

[kuroi_taiyo]

I'm definitely not gonna now.

[ He can be just as insistent. Stop being so freaky, you weirdo. ]

[moonlitknight]

[ He set him down a second time right in front of his mess before taking guard duty a few feet away. ]

[kuroi_taiyo]

[ In pure petulance, Judar's red eyes stare at Zero's purple as he kicks one of the larger pieces of broken glass. To get a smaller piece stabbed into that foot as another scrapes by, which has him jumping back. ]

Ow, fuck!

[ Jumping back, he pulls up his foot to pull out the glass as blood starts to well up. While wholly human, there's a darkness and potency promised in it. ]

[moonlitknight]

[ He stiffens, breath still as the scent smothers his senses for a moment before he's swallowing thickly. He steps back, hand at his throat loosening his tie as he loses sight of the Magi. ]

[kuroi_taiyo]

[ ... Well, that's pretty fucking weird. Then again, with the kind of things Judar can see normally, that kid was kind of weird to begin with.

Victory goes to him?

He's gonna need something to staunch this though. Which is when he's moving over to grab some of those napkins. ]
