The gods and shinki are free to take their time during this day to learn about the details of their new life from Amaterasu's shinki or from the many veteran new god and shinki volunteers.
God Training
- Newly arrived gods are escorted into a Western-styled reception hall within Bishamon's temple for an informational meeting covering the basics of proper god behavior, although the minor deity conducting the meeting is in too much of a rush to take questions afterwards. They are encouraged to discuss the information with each other and ask questions of more experienced gods, as well as instructed to guide their new shinki appropriately.
Shinki Training
- Various shinki volunteers, both in the white-and-gold of Amaterasu's shinki and in Bishamon's red-piped black uniforms, are stationed around the dojo, passing out helpful informational pamphlets. They will be happy to instruct the newcomers in the use of the borderline as well as offering an explanantion on the basics of what is expected of a shinki and the importance of teamwork with other shinki and with gods. Shinki are encouraged to work together to practice what they've learned and discuss their perspectives.
Someone has brought two overflowing boxes of back issues of From Ama, the Heavenly magazine, which includes profiles of successful shinki and gods, historical tidbits, and the occasional magazine quiz to help shinki determine how well they're currently working with their god or what their greatest strength might be.
Physical Training
- The dojo is stocked with a wide variety of practice weapons, traditional and modern, to offer some practice opportunity to gods who, for example, find themselves with a sword shinki but are at risk of cutting off their own toes. It's also useful for veteran new gods wishing to train with their current partner shinki.
This month, a clever shinki magician has created a dozen straw-stuffed training dummies, some with sword-length sticks and some with polearm-length sticks, that have been enchanted to really fight back. Unfortunately, the spell isn't perfect yet! They're good training partners, but sometimes they might go a little haywire and try to smack passersby.
Rest and Refreshments
- Along with bottled water, there are several large boxes of energy drinks and vitamin drinks in small amber glass bottles, and an array of protein bars and meal bars. One particular shinki in white, a bespectacled twentysomething man, is explaining the health benefits of everything on the table (even the water!) with great enthusiasm to any guest who looks even a little confused. It takes great tact to discourage him.
Party games have been set up on the lawn near the refreshments table: Twister, Kubb, lawn Jenga, and more.

[Lann is once agin working on his borderlines. His problem isn't getting the lines- his lines are actually quite strong- but rather control. Not only are they larger than necessary, but also badly aimed. He keeps tearing through the next training dummy over. He's starting to get a little frustrated.
Which is actually not helping his control issue. And there goes another dummy. And also a nearby bush.]

[ He didn't attend the god training. Why would he? Instead he pours his energy into the physical training, needing to release even a little of the pressure building up inside him. So, he used the enchanted figures fighting against them without holding back, without needing to curb his power in fear of hurting them. They weren't real, didn't feel pain, and when the red flames finally engulfed them in a sea of fire nothing was left behind, not even the ash. ]
ii. Rest and Refreshments
[ He rests alone, back to a tree while a white cleansing fire eats away, not at blight, but at the black ash beneath his skin. He's used to it by now and easily takes care of it. The white flame soon disappears and his hand falls revealing smooth skin. He lights a cigarette then, letting his thoughts drift along with the smoke while his body slowly grows lethargic. He falls asleep as he is, cigarette still burning, tucked between his lips, eyes closed as he takes a much needed nap. ]

So, by the time he finds him, he doesn't say anything and simply sits beside him, the familiar tendrils of smoke curling around them as he basks in the silence.]

[Just a few hours ago, Tadashi was a normal person with normal responsibilities like like homework and making sure his brother doesn't get himself killed somehow. Currently, he's just been told he's filling in for a god he's never even heard of and has to do his job for a while.
He's more confused than angry, but confusion still isn't a good feeling.]
Nice of them to tell us what's going on, but that was pretty short.

[Training dummies are nice, especially the ones that actually respond to attacks and retaliate. Unfortunately, he's managed to pick one that seems to malfunction more than the others, and instead of returning his attacks, is going after innocent people nearby with a polearm-stick.]
Watch out! Sorry, I don't know why this dummy's going after everything but me.

[ He's used to marksmanship practice but it's been awhile since he last picked up a sword. The weight feels familiar. He swings it around a few times, getting a feel for it's balance before he goes up against one of the enchanted dummies. Unfortunately, the tactile wooden figures aren't so house trained as he hoped and when one of them goes rogue and moves to attack a passerby-- ]

[ Genjo Sanzo, 31st of China, has had enough of gods. Gods sent him on his journey. Gods tried to murder him. Gods swept him up and tried to play pretend that he was, in fact, going to be a god himself. Patience entirely exceeded by the sheer absurdity of this concept, he’s not going to play along with it. It’s not worth trying to make sense of right now.
So when they’re encouraged to talk among themselves, Sanzo’s headed out. ]
Goddamn bullshit is what this is. [ The words carry, sounding about as rough and dire as his mood was right then. It probably doesn’t help that he’s not at his best at the moment, not the steadiest after having gotten the worse end of an encounter with a war god not long before this new farce began. ]

[ Sanzo keeps to himself outside, off out of the way, sitting with his back to an ornamental statue, keeping line of sight on the refreshments. He’s decidedly out of sorts and looking altogether disreputable- there’s still blood on his robe, even- for the priest that he is or the god he’s been told he’s supposed to be, glaring at everyone in a way that had to be purposely intended to ward people off.
If his idiot team ended up here, this is where he’s going to end up catching sight of the bastards. Even bad food would lure Goku into its orbit, and probably Gojyo, too. Hakkai, if he wasn’t already with the others, would probably just turn up with some passive aggressive insult whenever he damn well pleased at some inconvenient time. (Who knew what happened with Sharak and her people. Had they been caught up in whatever this was, too?)
When his team finally does show their faces, he decides, he’s going to shoot them for being so much trouble. ]

[Ignis holds the pamphlet that was placed in his hands with a slackened grip. This piece of paper was just rubbish to him since he couldn't read a word on it. His face was set in a stony manner that made him seem unapproachable, but really he was trying to process everything that was happening to him at this very moment.
He had awakened...somewhere. The only thing he could recall was his name and he couldn't see a bloody thing. He was guided to...a place where there were many voices around him, but it seemed that there was the general consensus of confusion. He listened in on people muttering to themselves or whispering to others about "death" and "the far shore" to gather as much information aurally as he possibly could.
Now he was just sitting quietly at the sidelines of the borderline practice area, his eyes trained in front of him as he listened to people shout "LINE!" over and over again.
It looks like he may be staring at you, but he's doing no such thing.]

[After a time of getting his bearings of maneuverability which meant somehow getting his hand on a polearm and using it as a guiding stick. He followed the sounds of some man explaining the contents of a table which sounded like food and drink. He could certainly use some water to clear his head.
The word "water bottle" came to mind, but he couldn't recall what one looked like. The image of one was right there at the edge of his mind. He knew that he couldn't see for some reason, but he his brain was trying to reach images that weren't there.
Pushing that out of his mind, he spoke up finally.]
Excuse me, if someone could direct me to where the water bottles are, I would be grateful.

A blink before he actually pauses in eating, swallowing the food in his mouth.]

[The physical training is one of Raichi's favorite aspects of these get-togethers, any way of burning off a bunch of excess energy is great for him, but he's apparently found himself getting targeted by one of the rogue training dummies, and one-on-one combat is definitely not something he's used to.]
Kahaha! [A sharp and nervous outburst of laughter might seem like a super out of place reaction for someone who looks a lot like they're trying to fend the dummy off with a club he picked up off the weapon rack, but it's what he does. Loud, nervous laughter.]

[It's not what he came here for, not really, but... that's what it's looking like he'll have to do?]

[The food, as always, is a classic favorite part of training. Free food! It's always different! The emphasis on snacks that are refreshing for after working out so much seems to capture his interest pretty thoroughly, and as such he's been snared into listening to the lectures from the shinki trying to push the refreshments.
Is he actually enjoying listening to all of this, or is he simply too awkward to try and cut the conversation short? Either way, he's not contributing much, just sort of... nodding along to what he's saying, picking up one of anything that's being pointed out, and munching on the snacks with great enthusiasm.
Hey, at least that gives others an opportunity to get their food and leave uninterrupted?]

[Considering Shun prefers to fight an opponent that can actually fight back when he's training, he's quick enough to take a round with one of the moving straw dummies. Since it's still not a real opponent, though, he's using one of the weapons he's less familiar with, a naginata with a short blade. It's a bit easier to get the hang of than other polearms since it still uses some motions similar to a sword, so he figures it's best to start there before he dips into polearms he's less familiar with.
Since the dummies are only wielding sticks, it's not exactly what he would consider a dangerous spar, but he's been paying enough attention to know what's about to happen when the dummy abruptly turns away and lurches towards the next-nearest person. As it swings the stick, Shun spins the naginata up and blocks it just before it gets close enough to risk hitting whoever the unlucky target was.]
I wouldn't get too close to these things unless you want to fight them.

[Shun is definitely not standing anywhere near the refreshments table with his water given the annoying rambling shinki there, so he ends up around the edges of the lawn instead. He's been out of things long enough to not recognise most of the games they're offering, and the only reason he even recognises the Jenga is because he had to play it during a prayer recently. Still, it means he's eying off anyone actually playing the games with a slight frown, as if he's trying to figure out the process and rules just by virtue of staring really hard.
He's not moving to play at any point, but he's watching intensely enough that it might get disconcerting after a while.]

She looks distressed, but her hands are in position to actually catch the staff, before Shun blocks it. She drops the stance and looks at the dummy with a mildly curious expression before turning to Shun to quickly evaluate him.
Well. He's not a bad starting point. Suddenly there are tears in Charlotte's eyes and she rushes to Shun's side.]
Oh! Thank you so much! [She clings to Shun's arm and leans against him.] I had no idea- it really scared me for a minute! You looked so heroic though...

[Maria's been keeping to her schedule with training herself even outside these meetings - it was a habit back home, and hadn't become any less of one here. But while the straw training dummies are useful as temporary opponents, they...definitely have their flaws.
Maria's sparring one of them, a blade in her hand only a little longer than a dagger, letting it press her back towards the weapon racks so she can take it out with a comeback attack. However, halfway through its last motion, its head twists suddenly and it goes rampaging back towards the path.]
What the-- [But she can see from here it's about to run into a person, and she doesn't have much time to catch it up. Turning towards the racks, she quickly grabs a heavy bladed whip and lashes it out towards the out of control dummy, with aim that only an experienced user would be able to manage.]
Stop right there! [She only barely gets that out before the whip takes off the dummy's head, and it stumbles drunkenly and a bit confusedly before flopping over. As she bundles up the whip and starts to head over, Maria looks a little troubled by how easy that was.]
I suppose they're still fragile, aren't they?

[Standing a little away from the refreshments table so she doesn't get her ears talked off by the shinki over there, Maria's holding a stack of flyers and approaching anyone who comes close enough.]
Sorry to bother you, but I'm setting up a training class outside of these meetings and trying to get the word out.
[She holds out one of the flyers - it's a neatly handwritten and drawn message about agility training through dance, citing inspirations from various kinds of combative dancing styles as well as more normal ones like ballet and street. The address on it is listed as Sparkle Motion Studio, a location on the Near Shore.]

[ One of the straw dummies has cornered somebody that had been sitting in a fancy chair off to the side! The chair has been knocked over on the round, burgundy-and-gold sun-patterned carpet beneath it, and the dummy is now whacking this person as hard as it can with a wooden sword. The legs peeking out over the top of the chair twitch with each impact, accompanied by the sound of a dull - thwoomp?
Come and rescue this helpless individual! ]

[ Hibiki waves away the shinki before he can even build up a head of steam, on her way to check out the spread.

After stuffing it into the small top of his, while part of it was obscured by the wrap, Judar could look down and see the little bulge. This is also how he realized what was in his shirt that was so weird- The item was cool, and had a crystal at the end, but that didn't change how weird it was to have it there of all places. ]
Man, this is dumb.

[ Alright, now that he's got a name and everything, it's time to show these chumps how it was done. Never mind that he only just woke up and found out he was dead, he was going to blow everyone away with his amazing skills. ]

[ He's got the confidence, that's for sure. Judar even almost has the hand gesture, if not a little lazy. Thinking he'd be so cool and manage it without having to say the trigger word, however, means that the barrier doesn't come up. In fact, while there was a shield ready around the long-haired teenager, it's not actually visible, due to not being active. Which meant that it looked like there was someone with more than their midriff showing, with no shoes and a braid that floats in a curve enough to not drag along the ground, standing with a semi-cool pose.
It's a moment of understanding and annoyance that sets in before he drops the post and pulls the pamphlet out of his small top to look back over at the information. ]
You can't be serious about calling out the spell every time. That's so fucking lame.

[ He's been chased away from the games, is hated by the the informing everyone about the health benefits of everything and has generally caused problems everywhere. (She is likely known at this point for her long, flowing, richly colored dresses, but Sansa arrives in something quite different this time. There is a short, light sword sheathed at her hip and she is wearing leather gauntlets to protect her arms. Additionally, her hair is gathered into a braided bun. She is not here to simply oversee - she is here to fight and to learn what she can from others.)
Don't be frightened. The quicker you learn to defend yourself, the better.
Physical Training
(Any training is good. Sansa can be found sparring against the dummies, throwing punches and kicks that she has been learning in her temple. Her expression is solemn and focused; she isn't afraid of tiring herself or potentially getting hurt. While she may never be as good as Arya or her brothers, she can still put her best foot forward.
...until one of the dummies swings and knocks her completely off balance. The fierce maiden suddenly seems more like a damsel in distress again. But it's only for a moment.
Or two. The wind really has been knocked out of her.)

(No matter her ambitions, her body tires eventually and she seeks refreshment, drinking water thirstily. She belatedly realizes how shameless she is being and flushes nearly as red as her hair. Perhaps this is why soldiers never seem to care much about manners.)

The polearm length sticks were still to long for her to handle, so Alex thought she’d give the shorter ones a try. It went well for a little bit, as if the dummies matched her level, but suddenly they stared to move faster and hit harder. Then another joined, and another, and Alex found herself running from five of them. She would stop whenever one caught up to try and fight it off, but when the rest came she had no choice but to make a run for it.
“Aaaagh!! Leave me alone already!!” Maybe it was just too soon for her..
II. R&R
A. Taking a break from her earlier..battle.. Alex is tiredly nibbling at a protein bar. She’s not close enough to really hear what the man’s saying, but even if he was, she was starting to zone out again. She stared blankly at the ground, her mind starting fog more and more.
B.What better way to keep focused than to play games? She’s never tried jenga or twister, but watching people was all she needed to figure them out. She’ll look up at the nearest person, gesturing towards the game. “Want to play?”

[Armed with a pamphlet and a magazine or two he's settling to read. It's easier if he sits by himself to study and learn so he's found himself a quiet spot. One leg crossed over the other - he may be unknowingly sitting just so in a way that makes him pull attention and the lighting is just right. It's all unconscious but it's deeply ingrained in him. The thing to ruin this is how pensive he is with a frown.
He might be feeling a little overwhelmed the idea of being someone a god depends on is a bit much for a fifteen-year-old. It's not about the fighting though. It's the other stuff. The basic stuff. Stuff he can't recall and his lack of memories is staggering. He can't even unlock the other phone that he'd found tucked into his pocket.]
This is going to be a challenge.

[After having been named and meeting his god -(dess?) he's uncertain if they make a gender distinction - Adrien is practicing drawing borderlines. His eyes are narrowed in concentration. Once he's done it a handful of times he's exhaling, that intense look fading.]
I think I've got it. What do you think? [He says to no one in particular as if he's just used to talking and getting an answer from someone or something.]

[Adrien had toyed with various weapons and he'd decided he only liked a handful. There were swords, and he'd liked the rapier best - it felt good in his hand - but in the end he went with a staff length pole. There was something familiar about it. Something that felt natural. He's throwing himself into fighting with the dummies, training hard. When one of the two he'd been going at it with veers off he's using the pole to vault after it.]
Hey! Get back here you. We're supposed to fighting not playing cat and mouse.
[And then it's raising it's weapon to attack some hapless person.] Hey, Look out! [His voice is firm and he's throwing the pole forward with just a hint of spin, sending it into the back of the dummy horizontally throwing it's balance off just enough to send it down to the ground.
He's hurrying forward to pick up the pole, gripping it and leaning on it slightly, his other hand rubbing at the back of his neck; panting slightly.]

[After some pretty intense training Adrien has gotten a bottle of water, one of those weird little amber bottles. and a couple bars to eat. Usually, at least he thinks anyway, he doesn't eat such things. But it doesn't matter what is usual. It's what's there and nothing about this is usual. He's content though. One of the bars is between his teeth - unopened as he shrugs off the white over shirt he'd been wearing; he's hot and even if it's not thick it's an extra layer he doesn't need.
Then he's tearing his bar open, breaking tearing it with his teeth rather than his fingers. He can't get a proper grip for that. Biting into one of the bars he's giving a soft hum. It tastes like a cookie. He's turning the bar over reading the back of it curiously.]
Huh... Dates? Cashews? Chocolate and Sea Salt Caramel. How the does all that taste like a cookie? Snack bars are weird.
II
[Adrien has found a board with a series of holes cut into it with varying point values on it. There's a stack of differently colored bean bags in front of it and he's picking up a couple of the black ones. Stepping behind a line that had clearly been drawn as a clear boundary. Toeing the line he's tossing one of those black bags in his hand to get a feel and good grip on it Then he's pitching one forward underhanded.
It thwacks on the board half in half out of one of holes. Frowning Adrien tries a second time. The second actually goes through one of the lower circles and he shrugs.
It doesn't matter it's not like anyone is here to actually fuss at him about scoring]

["Do your best to get along with your god"... In light of his recent experiences, he couldn't help but notice there wasn't a lot here for shinki who were being mistreated by their gods. This pamphlet just seemed to assume that most, if not all of the time, gods would act in good faith, and not much time needed to be spent on protecting vulnerable shinki. He was not particularly thrilled by this.
In response, he crushed the pamphlet in his now-glowing hand, and without any warning, it caught flame and crumbled to ashes. While he couldn't destroy all of them doing that, at least he could be sure that this one wouldn't fall into a neophyte shinki's hands.]
Physical Training
[Being a shinki who also happened to be a magic user, it was pretty much a given that he would find himself wandering to the dojo. He'd done some training before, but that had focused on unarmed combat instead of swordplay. Swinging a sword had always felt vaguely familiar and came easily to him, but he couldn't think about why even if he wanted to.
Taking one of those sword-length sticks and focusing on training instead of anything else was something he really needed right then. However, when the dummy tried to smack someone passing by, he still tried to intercept it, even if it meant he was the one getting hit.]

A Fateful Meeting
His free hand runs through his hair, scratching gently at his scalp. She gets a chance to register who he is before she's going to get a series of images at first she may not remember. Adrien hiding rather poorly behind a tree and yes there's Ladybug, who he seems to be listening to intently. As she leaves to chase after an Akumatized Alix, Adrien heaves a soft sigh peering under his white over shirt at a black cat-like creature with vivid green eyes.
"Time to transform. Plagg, Claws out!"
And Adrien is washed over with magic; she may even feel the tingle of it dancing along her skin fleetingly, leaving the familiar figure of Chat Noir in the model's place.
The scene skips and she's treated to a much more familiar scene. Ladybug on the ground, Alix - Timebreaker - looming over her.
'No! No, Ladybug. I can't let her - Merde.'
There's a rush of sound that follows the crash of dread that comes iwth those thoughts. It's Chat's boots hitting the ground and then then there's Chat winding his arms around her, tight and protective as the villain's hand presses against his leather clad back. There's a spark of pain and a feeling of losing warmth then - nothing.
Then it's back to Adrien - Adrien looking rather pleased with himself as he twirls and spins the pole he'd found but then he's glancing to her as if she'd been looking at him this whole time, staring at him. His brows arch a smile settling on his face. He's moving toward her with the wooden weapon resting comfortably against his shoulder.]

[Instead, he's... doing something that might otherwise be called vivisection if his subject was alive. Alive or not, it's probably still kind of creepy to see it pinned to the ground by its limbs with four different knives, and the fifth in Chikusa's hand as he patiently goes through it.]

[Only for another dummy, apparently on the fritz, to spring forward and start swinging wildly with its own staff. Yelping, Garry hastily blocks... and then tries to beat a hasty retreat.]
H-Hey! Quit that! Someone help get this thing off of me!
C - Refreshments
[At first, he thought it would be alright to entertain this guy while he went to get something to drink but... Judging by how wary Garry looks, with his shoulders slumping, it's clearly been taking too long for the bespectacled shinki chatting at him to just stop.]
[But he's not sure how being blunt will work for him either, so as he looks around.... Garry hastily waves his arm at whoever gets near enough to the refreshments table.]
Oh! Hey, there you are! [Has he never met this person? Sssshhh don't spill the secret.] I was wondering when- oh, won't you excuse me? I really have to go.
[TIME TO BEAT FEET. Hopefully this other person won't spill the beans and just stay quiet until they're far enough from Sir Explains a Lot.]

[Once he got a basic idea of the situation, that was more or less it for Kagaho's interest in engaging with what's going on here. He's found a place to stand that's well out of the way of the other shinki chatting and practicing borderlines together. He'd leave entirely if he had anywhere to go, but instead he's somehow made himself a magnet for people who are trying to be helpful by asking him if he needs help and handing him more pamphlets than anyone needs.
He snarls at the latest one, even though he takes their pamphlet in hopes they'll leave him alone. When they look satisfied and leave, that's when he flips through the little glossy pages of the pamphlets and realizes he can't read a word of it. Or maybe just can't read at all. It's not like he remembers.]
This is a waste of my time.
[He drops all the pamphlets on the ground and steps on them out of frustration.]

[It doesn't really matter that the dummy can fight back or that it's movements are a little erratic. Actually, that makes it better to take his frustrations out on. And that's exactly what Kagaho is doing.
He's already downed one of the dummies and he's relentlessly pummeling the next one, barehanded and without any apparent concern for his own safety. It's unpleasant to watch, which is why the shinki supervising look like they'd like to stop him, but aren't quite sure if it's a good idea...]
Refreshments
[Kagaho is probably one of the only people willingly eating the protein bars. They taste like crap, but they're food and there's a lot of them. In fact, every time they put more out, he grabs another handful.
It's probably not healthy.
You can tell where he's decided to park himself, too, because there's an ever growing pile of bars and bottles, like he's afraid he's not going to get his fair share.]

[THIS is more his speed; especially since he's trying to reacquaint himself with how to use a sword. Mostly by trying to relearn what he can, but letting muscle-memory guide him. It's a slow process, and frustrating at times, but it's working.
Outside, he's keeping an eye on the dummies. It's a good idea in theory, but some of the dummies seem to not realize who their targets are. Which means he's keeping an eye out to see if anyone needs help wrangling a dummy away from themselves or others.]
R&R
[To all appearances, Trunks is the model of polite listening while actually getting bottles of water and some meal and protein bars. Quite a lot of them actually, given his appetite. He's still taking his first chance to politely leave though, and find a different spot. Eyeing the games while folding himself down on the grass with the pile of snacks and bottles of water.]
