Summary: Training and informational sessions for newly arrived gods and shinki

Gods and shinki arriving at heaven's meeting hall are, should they allow it, guided to Bishamon's temple, where a reception area and a traditionally styled dojo and training ground have been made available for the day. The gods and shinki are free to take their time during this day to learn about the details of their new life from Amaterasu's shinki or from the many veteran new god and shinki volunteers.

God Training
- Newly arrived gods are escorted into a Western-styled reception hall within Bishamon's temple for an informational meeting covering the basics of proper god behavior, although the minor deity conducting the meeting is in too much of a rush to take questions afterwards. They are encouraged to discuss the information with each other and ask questions of more experienced gods, as well as instructed to guide their new shinki appropriately.
Shinki Training
- Various shinki volunteers, both in the white-and-gold of Amaterasu's shinki and in Bishamon's red-piped black uniforms, are stationed around the dojo, passing out helpful informational pamphlets. They will be happy to instruct the newcomers in the use of the borderline as well as offering an explanantion on the basics of what is expected of a shinki and the importance of teamwork with other shinki and with gods. Shinki are encouraged to work together to practice what they've learned and discuss their perspectives.
Someone has brought two overflowing boxes of back issues of From Ama, the Heavenly magazine, which includes profiles of successful shinki and gods, historical tidbits, and the occasional magazine quiz to help shinki determine how well they're currently working with their god or what their greatest strength might be.
Physical Training
- The dojo is stocked with a wide variety of practice weapons, traditional and modern, to offer some practice opportunity to gods who, for example, find themselves with a sword shinki but are at risk of cutting off their own toes. It's also useful for veteran new gods wishing to train with their current partner shinki.
This month, a clever shinki magician has created a dozen straw-stuffed training dummies, some with sword-length sticks and some with polearm-length sticks, that have been enchanted to really fight back. Unfortunately, the spell isn't perfect yet! They're good training partners, but sometimes they might go a little haywire and try to smack passersby.
Rest and Refreshments
- Along with bottled water, there are several large boxes of energy drinks and vitamin drinks in small amber glass bottles, and an array of protein bars and meal bars. One particular shinki in white, a bespectacled twentysomething man, is explaining the health benefits of everything on the table (even the water!) with great enthusiasm to any guest who looks even a little confused. It takes great tact to discourage him.
Party games have been set up on the lawn near the refreshments table: Twister, Kubb, lawn Jenga, and more.

In Summary:
- Get all the information you can handle
- Veteran new gods and shinki are welcome to volunteer showing the ropes
- Get in some training
- Play some games
- Spectate if you want
- Have fun~
Sanzos don't get rest or refreshments
Sharak's late. It's been a rough couple of weeks and she's late. Normally she makes sure to turn up for these things, to look around and make sure no one needs her help. If anyone she's hoping to see- or anyone she's hoping not to see- turns up here, this is where they'll be first and Sharak wants to make sure she finds them before anything happens. But she's been disappointed so many times recently and, again, it's been a rough few weeks, that she almost decides to skip it.
She's glad she didn't. Sharak steps out from around the statue Genjo is leaning against, pulling out her pistol and pointing it at the side of Genjo's head. Her face and glare are as serious as always as she stares him down to see his response.]

He apparently decides that he sees whatever he’s looking for. The tense line of his arm starts to relax after a long moment, and his expression eases to something more neutral.
Damn, it’s far more a relief to see her than he wants to admit. ]
no subject
Genjo Sanzo. [Pulls her gun back and smiles.] You took your time.
no subject
[ This sort of quiet banter was comfortable, more so than it ought to be. In truth, it should have been unsettling to know that Sharak was here, but the alternative wasn’t that any better. ]
no subject
[His group's inability to stick to a schedule is pretty famous, after all. Sharak holsters her gun as well, expression going serious. The banter is nice, but they have important things to establish first.]
What do you know already?
no subject
Not enough, but it depends on how much of what I’ve been told is the truth. It sounds like bullshit. [ There’s an unspoken “but” there. He’s not sure about some of it. If nothing else, some of the people around here clearly believe what they’re saying. ]
no subject
... But they're not exactly lying either. [Sharak quickly waves her hand to dismiss any protests before Genjo can make them.] Obviously all that about being gods and shinki is a fabrication, but it's a convincing one. We've been made to replicate the symptoms by whoever's brought us here.
[Gee, Sharak, you make being a god sound like a deathly illness.]
Some people buy into it more than others and if we all went along with the story I'm sure a lot of people would be much happier.
[Which of course means they shouldn't, but that goes without saying.]
no subject
Whoever they are, they didn’t choose well. [ Then, quieter: ] How many more bad choices were made?
[ That was the real question. If nothing else, where the hell were her people? Hassan, he’s certain, would rather lose a limb than lose track of Sharak in this kind of situation. Then again, it wasn’t like he could stop her. She was a force of nature in that regard. ]
no subject
Too many. [Though they've lost a fair number of them since she arrived. Genjo clearly doesn't remember that, which is to be expected after all this time.] Hakkai and Gojyo are here. That friend of yours, Dokugakuji, too, but no one else you should recognise.
[But no Goku and no Hassan.]
no subject
It’s not something he can afford to be diverted by right then. He couldn’t do anything but trust that Goku would do what he needed to do while he did the same on his side. The world feels oddly off kilter, but he takes a moment and a breath to center himself.]
Since I’m unemployed, I won’t be able to reimburse you for damages or babysitting costs for those two. [ It’s a perfectly reasonable thing to say, dry and grumpy and decidedly not worried for anyone’s sake. He didn’t do worried.
And he won’t even start on the subject of Dokugakuji. That is a different problem to deal with later. ]
no subject
[More exhausted than sass. There's a nasty gash across Sharak's face that wasn't there before. A few days old and not bandaged, but fresh enough that it probably should still be covered up. Between Gojyo and Hakkai and every other idiot Sharak's been forced to deal with here... She'd demand reimbursement, if she thought she'd done a good enough job to deserve it. Unfortunately, she didn't, but at least now she has help to pick up the pieces.]
Gojyo's taking his turn as a shinki right now, so when you see him make sure it's for the first time.
[Maybe Genjo will do a more convincing job of that than her or Hakkai.]
no subject
Something about it happening to one of his party hits a nerve he didn’t know he had, a wound from when he’d faced down Ukoku that still hasn’t entirely healed.
His attempts at deflecting with a show of bad temper cease entirely, voice going quiet and intent as he says something he certainly wouldn’t to anyone other than his only peer: ] In that case, I’ll take responsibility for him from here on.
[ Well, he’ll try to.
He isn’t sure of how much trouble Gojyo has caused or how he’s going to handle him yet, but he knows it’s necessary. He can only imagine that Hakkai has been worse than useless in this situation, and this isn’t Sharak’s problem. (And, if he had to guess, she no doubt made it her problem in whatever amount of time Genjo hadn’t been here.) Planning has never been his strong suit, but he’ll make it work. ]
no subject
Good. He's been an idiot, but more to his own detriment than anyone else's. [Her own injuries aside, as well as Hakkai's emotional turmoil. They're fine.] It seems he's decided that everything he was before this must have been terrible, as well as every action he took or relationship he had.
[This may be a slight breach in confidence, but this is Genjo's business too. Just because Gojyo is determined to cut ties doesn't mean his friends will stop worrying about him. Better for them to be forewarned.]
... Hakkai's taking that well. [As she's sure Genjo can imagine.]
no subject
He knows his team. He probably owes Sharak an apology.
He shifts with a soft huff, failing to conceal a wince as he does. Staying still made him sore and moving hurt, so he has the best of both worlds right now. Still, the pain forces him to keep his focus. ] The rest of what I need to know, we don’t need overheard.
no subject
I know.
[Amaterasu and Bishamon's shinki probably aren't actually their enemies, but they're absolutely here to report anything interesting overheard to their goddesses. That's not necessary, at this moment. As for their fellow captives, their trustworthiness varies and some of the things Genjo needs to know could possibly harm shinki to hear about.]
Would you like to show me what your temple looks like?
[And maybe sit somewhere more comfortable. She remembers those injuries.]
no subject
There’s a brief pause, considering. ] I could. What about yours?
[ Sharak, he’s fairly sure, would have her space secured. That’s the real question— just what amount of privacy did they need? ]
no subject
Mine's quite comfortable. [And that's why they'll head there. Genjo can meet the chickens.
Sharak holds out her hand and adds wryly:] Come on, I'll show you a neat trick.
no subject
What. [ It’s not actually a question. He’s still not thinking in terms of some of the tricks available to so-called gods here, though he might have balked even if he were. ]
no subject
I said, I'm going to show you something. Come on.
[Genjo really is kind of cute.]
no subject
He even starts to shift away just slightly. ]
no subject
Genjo.
[Listen to senpai, Genjo. With an eyeroll, she reaches out and lightly takes hold of his wrist. Then there's a rush of energy, the sound of chickens clucking in the distance, and they're in Aditi's foyer surrounded by floor cushions that are perfectly arranged for priests to collapse onto.]
It would only have been for a second, you know.
no subject
Thank you, but I’ll pass next time. [ It’s a dry statement. He’s not motivated to make much of a fuss, but still. ]
no subject
[If he's going to be walking back later, he needs his rest. Sharak takes a seat and lights a cigarette. The temple is safe as anything can be here. Kouten's barrier hums around them to anyone sensitive enough to notice. The chickens and rooster cluck happily outside, ready to throw a shitfit if anyone approaches.
And Sharak is here. That's security enough.]
You look even worse than the last time I saw you.
no subject
Do I? This shouldn’t be a surprise to you, as far as I remember. [ Narrowly avoiding obliteration by Nataku was a little rough. ]
no subject
[And then she'd gone to check on her charges, to visit the youkai village nearby and make sure they were all safe. Then Nataku had arrived to declare his intentions.]
If you remember something else, please let me know.
[If someone could please tell her that her people are safe, she'd declare all debts paid.]
