Gods and shinki arriving at heaven's meeting hall are, should they allow it, guided to Bishamon's temple, where a reception area and a traditionally styled dojo and training ground have been made available for the day. The gods and shinki are free to take their time during this day to learn about the details of their new life from Amaterasu's shinki or from the many veteran new god and shinki volunteers.




God Training

Newly arrived gods are escorted into a Western-styled reception hall within Bishamon's temple for an informational meeting covering the basics of proper god behavior, although the minor deity conducting the meeting is in too much of a rush to take questions afterwards. They are encouraged to discuss the information with each other and ask questions of more experienced gods, as well as instructed to guide their new shinki appropriately.

Shinki Training

Various shinki volunteers, both in the white-and-gold of Amaterasu's shinki and in Bishamon's red-piped black uniforms, are stationed around the dojo, passing out helpful informational pamphlets. They will be happy to instruct the newcomers in the use of the borderline as well as offering an explanantion on the basics of what is expected of a shinki and the importance of teamwork with other shinki and with gods. Shinki are encouraged to work together to practice what they've learned and discuss their perspectives.

Someone has brought two overflowing boxes of back issues of From Ama, the Heavenly magazine, which includes profiles of successful shinki and gods, historical tidbits, and the occasional magazine quiz to help shinki determine how well they're currently working with their god or what their greatest strength might be.

Physical Training

The dojo is stocked with a wide variety of practice weapons, traditional and modern, to offer some practice opportunity to gods who, for example, find themselves with a sword shinki but are at risk of cutting off their own toes. It's also useful for veteran new gods wishing to train with their current partner shinki.

This month, a clever shinki magician has created a dozen straw-stuffed training dummies, some with sword-length sticks and some with polearm-length sticks, that have been enchanted to really fight back. Unfortunately, the spell isn't perfect yet! They're good training partners, but sometimes they might go a little haywire and try to smack passersby.

Rest and Refreshments

Along with bottled water, there are several large boxes of energy drinks and vitamin drinks in small amber glass bottles, and an array of protein bars and meal bars. One particular shinki in white, a bespectacled twentysomething man, is explaining the health benefits of everything on the table (even the water!) with great enthusiasm to any guest who looks even a little confused. It takes great tact to discourage him.

Party games have been set up on the lawn near the refreshments table: Twister, Kubb, lawn Jenga, and more.

[Do you see the look on his face? It's annoyed and there's a bit of judgement there.]

[Adrien is sighing watching her turn tail before kneeling down to start carefully picking up the pieces of the shattered cup.]

Look, tea-ghost? cup-ghost thing, I know she's a pain in the butt but I'm thinking you're fighting a lost cause here.

[ Hibiki continues to take her leave.

The pieces of teacup in Adrien's hand, however, rattle a bit. One flies up to try to smack him in the shoulder at the suggestion that it abandon its pursuit, but the piece will (unless intercepted) settle back into his hand afterwards without breaking any further. ]

[Adrien chuckles softly at that smack. If one could call it a smack.]

I know, I know. You think she needs to learn a lesson or something but -

[He shakes his head.]

Some people won't understand no matter what effort you put in. She strikes me as that kind of person.

[ Around Adrien, the air heats up. There is the faint sound of something sniggering.

Teaching a lesson would be optimal, of course, so no more brethren have to perish. But that is not the primary reason this particular polteageist has resisted exorcism.

No, Shikyoin Hibiki must suffer. ]

[Adrien doesn't know what to make of the sudden warmth. Didn't ghost cause cold spots? Or was that something else? What even made him think that?]

Look, little tea ghost, I can't say I blame you but today isn't that day, alright? I might not like her attitude but I'm not going to let you just go around causing trouble.

[He's making his way to the bin. When he speaks again his voice is solemn.]

Rest in peace, Monsieur Teacup.

[Then he's discarding the shattered remains into it.]

Huh... Or should it have been pieces? [He muses to himself before shrugging his shoulders.]

[ The respect Adrien pays the fallen teacup gets the temperature back to normal. (A polteageist can, of course, make the temperature drop - such is its ghostly nature. But it can also heat the air - it is the ghost of a cup for hot tea. Of course.)

All seems well. Unless Adrien looks in the direction Hibiki headed, in which case he might see a trail of faint water droplets on the ground where...no one has spilled water.

Even if it doesn't strike yet, it has to keep an eye on the foe. ]

[Adrien is glancing over to watch Hibiki go. Yes, he's making note of those little droplets, a brow arching slightly.

Technically, she brought it on herself. But he's going to have to keep an eye one her.]

She seems to be the kind to attract trouble. Why do I have a feeling I'm going to have to help her out?

[That or he's going to want to seriously smack his head on a table when she's around. One or the two. Maybe both. Who is Adrien kidding? It's gonna be both.]

[ This is a dangerous proposition, Adrien. Hibiki only allows high-quality tables in her presence. They are all made of extremely hard woods.

The kind to attract trouble, however, just sneezes and frowns. A cold? It'll be an outrage if gods can get sick. ]
