Summary: Training and informational sessions for newly arrived gods and shinki

Gods and shinki arriving at heaven's meeting hall are, should they allow it, guided to Bishamon's temple, where a reception area and a traditionally styled dojo and training ground have been made available for the day. The gods and shinki are free to take their time during this day to learn about the details of their new life from Amaterasu's shinki or from the many veteran new god and shinki volunteers.

God Training
- Newly arrived gods are escorted into a Western-styled reception hall within Bishamon's temple for an informational meeting covering the basics of proper god behavior, although the minor deity conducting the meeting is in too much of a rush to take questions afterwards. They are encouraged to discuss the information with each other and ask questions of more experienced gods, as well as instructed to guide their new shinki appropriately.
Shinki Training
- Various shinki volunteers, both in the white-and-gold of Amaterasu's shinki and in Bishamon's red-piped black uniforms, are stationed around the dojo, passing out helpful informational pamphlets. They will be happy to instruct the newcomers in the use of the borderline as well as offering an explanantion on the basics of what is expected of a shinki and the importance of teamwork with other shinki and with gods. Shinki are encouraged to work together to practice what they've learned and discuss their perspectives.
Someone has brought two overflowing boxes of back issues of From Ama, the Heavenly magazine, which includes profiles of successful shinki and gods, historical tidbits, and the occasional magazine quiz to help shinki determine how well they're currently working with their god or what their greatest strength might be.
Physical Training
- The dojo is stocked with a wide variety of practice weapons, traditional and modern, to offer some practice opportunity to gods who, for example, find themselves with a sword shinki but are at risk of cutting off their own toes. It's also useful for veteran new gods wishing to train with their current partner shinki.
This month, a clever shinki magician has created a dozen straw-stuffed training dummies, some with sword-length sticks and some with polearm-length sticks, that have been enchanted to really fight back. Unfortunately, the spell isn't perfect yet! They're good training partners, but sometimes they might go a little haywire and try to smack passersby.
Rest and Refreshments
- Along with bottled water, there are several large boxes of energy drinks and vitamin drinks in small amber glass bottles, and an array of protein bars and meal bars. One particular shinki in white, a bespectacled twentysomething man, is explaining the health benefits of everything on the table (even the water!) with great enthusiasm to any guest who looks even a little confused. It takes great tact to discourage him.
Party games have been set up on the lawn near the refreshments table: Twister, Kubb, lawn Jenga, and more.

In Summary:
- Get all the information you can handle
- Veteran new gods and shinki are welcome to volunteer showing the ropes
- Get in some training
- Play some games
- Spectate if you want
- Have fun~

This yoyo, however, didn't look like hers. There was no smartphone option, the string was finite. Come to think of it, the string didn't look much like string at all. Interesting.]
There are always options.
[She's eyeing the dummies, though. Hadn't she heard someone shouting about one going rogue earlier?]
Where'd this one come from? Before you had it, I mean.
[It wasn't imperative that he tell her, but she was curious. And since it was his, she was assuming he'd at least be able to tell her that much. In the meantime, she's twirling not-Ladybug's yoyo as she considers one of the training dummies. She couldn't get over how odd it felt, but that was probably because it wasn't the right yoyo.]
And what's up with the string?
no subject
[He's a shinki; knowing isn't an option for him. All he knows is that he has it, and has since he first arrived. The 'where' isn't really important so much as he's certain he knows how to maintain and use it.]
[For the time being, he pulls out the other yoyo that matches the first and begins to toy with it idly. It's good for her other answer, when he suddenly lashes out with it to a nearby tree, slicing through the lowest hanging leaves.]
[Hopefully that's answer enough.]
no subject
Oh.
[It hadn't even occurred to her that he wouldn't know. But she's shrugging it off.
And then he's pulling out a second yoyo. She's about to ask how many he's currently smuggling, but her mouth snaps shut again as she watches the other yoyo slice through the leaves on a tree.]
Neat.
[Her yoyo couldn't do that. As far as she knew.]
You're a shinki, aren't you?
[She really had no idea, but based on the non-answer he'd given her previous question, she supposed it was safe to assume. In the meantime, she's back to twirling the yoyo in her hand, and then she's lashing out too. Mostly she's just curious to see if she can hit the same branch he'd hit.]
no subject
[Versatile, at least. While he'd rather not have to do outright combat, at least he never has to worry about lacking a weapon of any sort. Toying with it yet again, and he glances back to her.][It could go either way with some people, unless they were using shinki magic or had a name in an obvious place.]
no subject
[She just hadn't been expecting it was all. What she liked most about her own yoyo was the fact that it wasn't the typical weapon. Chat had a staff, and he used that like one would expect. Her yoyo, though? It was more of a tool than anything, but she could use it to immobilize someone or distract them if necessary. She expected it would probably be the same with a normal one.
And the fact that he wasn't answering her question wasn't lost at all on Marinette. But that was okay. He wasn't obligated to give her any answers. As luck would have it, she had managed to hit the same branch. She'd merely smacked it with the yoyo itself, but that was enough for her. For now.]
Thank you for letting me use it.
no subject
[It's interesting to see someone else use it. Not exactly in the same way as he just had, but still a viable enough use. Ignoring the sharpness it apparently has- it takes a certain kind of speed and tension after all- he continues to do idle tricks with what he has in his own hands.]
Do you know how to make one...?
no subject
I know how to make a lot of things, but that isn't one of them.
[Did he know how to make one? It certainly made her wonder. Now that she'd contented herself with trying to hit the branch, she was back to idly toying with the yoyo.]
How about you?
[It couldn't hurt to ask, right? Maybe he'd even answer!]
no subject
[There's just never been any reason to make a new one. Still, now that he's brought it up... Snapping his yoyo back up into his hand, he searches for his phone. It's more effort than he'd normally like to deal with, but...]
If you found the materials... I could try.
[This is the sort of skill he should know for certain that he has. Better before he really needs to know, like if his yoyos get destroyed.]
no subject
If you want to. But I'm definitely going to try and find- ... oh. What would I need to get?
[At that thought, she's glancing down at the yoyo in her hand, chewing her lip in concentration as she considers the unorthodox weapon. True, she had a good deal of experience in crafting various things, but she'd never really been good at trying to guess what something was made out of.]
Or if you didn't want to do it for me, you could show me how? I wouldn't mind learning, honestly.
no subject
[His opinion of the Heavens is pretty low as it is, honestly. He wouldn't be surprised if they hadn't for once. Still, he's pulling his own out, flipping through it.]
[It'll be easier to send the list to her, rather than intone it.]
no subject
[That had actually surprised her a little, but she supposed it made sense in the grand scheme of things.
At that point, she's pulling out her own phone and holding it up so he can see it.]
Don't they give them to everyone?
no subject
[Still, flicking his own phone number onto the screen, he raises his hand to show it to her.]
My number.
no subject
And then she's glancing up at the offered phone for a moment, before fiddling with her own.]
Thanks!
[Before he can ask, she's turning her phone back around for a few seconds, and then spinning it around again to display her own. She'd thought about just sending him a text but that seemed ridiculous since he was standing a few feet away from her.]
I'm Marinette, by the way.
[Because yes, it just occurred to her that she had yet to introduce herself properly.]
no subject
Ah... Chikusa Kakimoto.
[Quite a Japanese name for a kid with an Italian accent.]
no subject
[She's smiling as she goes ahead and adds a name to the number he's just given her, before the phone disappears into the pocket from whence it came.]
Marinette Dupain-Cheng.
[Then it's back to idly toying with the yoyo. She's not entirely sure what to say at this point.]
Really though, thanks for all of this. I appreciate it. If you ever need anything, you can call me. Okay? [In the meantime, she's going to come up with a way to thank him for being so helpful.]
no subject
[Welp. At least he is.... blunt and honest? A positive, maybe. He at least can see why he's being thanked, even if it's ultimately for his own self interest and curiosity. With his own phone being put back, he glances at the yoyo.]
...Are you going to practice with it more?
no subject
[While she couldn't even picture a situation in which she'd be the best one to help him, Marinette wanted to extend the offer just the same. Besides, she liked Chikusa and she thought they could be friends.]
You don't mind?
[She's glancing down at the yoyo too. Truth be told, she wouldn't mind practicing a little more before she had to give it back.]
Do you have somewhere else to be?
[As much as she did want to get in some more practice, she also didn't want to be rude and monopolize his time if he had other things to do.]
no subject
[He glances back around the training areas, considering. Really, he tends to clear out his schedule for days like this, just in case something happens, but...]
...I just.... want it back before I go...
no subject
If you're sure.
[Really though, there hadn't much of a demonstration just yet. And she didn't want to send him on his way empty-handed. Figuratively, anyway.]
Don't worry. I wasn't going to keep it! You'll get it back as soon as I'm finished.
[As much as she might have liked to keep the yoyo, she wasn't the type to try and walk off with it after he'd been so kind. Rather than dwell on that, she's twirling the yoyo again and glancing over at the training dummies. Were they close enough to hit one of them from here?
With that question in mind, she took a couple of steps toward the dummy in question before lashing out at the one closest to where they were standing. Mostly she was curious about how long a string this one had.]
no subject
[Even if that kind of thing turned out to be theft, he feels like there are a couple people in the Far Shore who wouldn't bother to help him even then. Especially if he attacked someone who definitely gives off a better.... vibe than he does.]
[For the time being, he simply stays and watches her as the yoyo unfurls. It's definitely a lot longer than any normal yoyo should be, perfect for a long distance attack to one of the nearest dummies. Further, maybe, although that could possibly be stretching it.]
no subject
I wouldn't do that.
[Instead, she's more interested in watching to see if the yoyo manages to hit the training dummy she'd aimed at. When it seemed to come up short, Marinette fought the urge to pout. But she just shrugged it off and took a couple of steps toward her intended target.
It was already spinning in her hand, something that had become second nature during her time as Ladybug, and she couldn't help feeling a little nostalgic even in the midst of trying to land an attack on that dummy.]
Is there a limit on how long the string can be?
[She'd meant what she said earlier when they'd been talking about her getting one of her own, and she was curious. In the meantime, she watched as the body of the yoyo bonked the nearest dummy on the head. Almost at once, the dummy sprang to life, flailing around in an attempt to pinpoint the one who'd attacked it.]
no subject
It depends on a few things... Yoyos work as they do because of physics... and you'll want them adjusted for how tall you are...
[His tend to be pretty long just because he's pretty long, after all.]
...But if you wanted longer... I guess it could be an experiment... [That, too, would be interesting to look into.]
no subject
I was never very good at physics. [It was more of an off-hand comment than anything.] That's interesting, though. Is it easier to use if it's adjusted to your height?
[She was pretty sure that the string on Ladybug's yoyo was however long she needed it to be at any given time. But it was also a magical smartphone that could purify akumas, so... It went without saying that it was special.]
Longer might be good for fighting at a distance.
[That said, she's spinning the yoyo again and then aiming a hit at the dummy's body. She didn't want to keep trying to hit the same spot over and over because that seemed too easy.
no subject
[Which is a lot more important when you're the one actually building such things than necessarily just using them. He watches her style, keeping in mind the moves she uses.]
Mm.... that's how it is for normal yoyos. Weaponized, the same thing applies, but... with a little more room.
no subject
Good to know.
[And really, she was pleased to hear that she didn't have to be very good at physics, because it had never been her strongest subject. No, she'd always been more interested in art than science. But she supposed she'd have to work on that a little while she was here.]
Weaponized?
[While she was no stranger to using one as a weapon, she couldn't help but wonder if he meant something else. She couldn't really imagine how one might weaponize a yoyo, though.]
