Who: Hitsugaya and Alibaba
Where: Near Shore
When: September 26th
What: Prayer #55 + possible Talk
[ ”Have you heard that song? Whoever hears it can't help but break out into a dance! Some people say it's the radio, some blame street musicians, no one knows for sure! I keep trying different routes to get to school to avoid it, but now I keep showing up late! No fair!”
Honestly, there were times wherein Toushirou has to wonder just what kind of prayers actually reaches him. However, with the recent bout of prayers that’s come his way recently, he figures it’s time to do a prayer with his assigned shinki and not with the other two he had named. It’s why he’s brought Alibaba to the Near Shore with him to where the supposed ayakashi is supposed to be.
He cranes his neck to look over at Alibaba.]
Are you ready?

Are you ready?

Ah, yes? I think so? How do you want to do this?
no subject
[And yes, he's caught that, so there's a knowing, amused look before he looks away.]
So be on your guard. At least we know for sure that it uses music as its medium.
no subject
It seems a strange thing to pray about though, doesn't it? I mean, what's so bad about hearing a catchy song that makes you want to dance? Most people would think that's a good thing. Wouldn't they?
no subject
[After all, they went on a double date, Alibaba. Don't forget that.
Toushirou starts walking, keeping his ears open.] But it can also be a problem if the only thing people do is dance and they don't take a break. It wouldn't be odd if someone just danced until they're dead on their feet - literally.
no subject
Hitsugaya's words bring a bit of perspective he hadn't thought about, however. ] Wait, dancing till they're.... No, you're right, that would be a terrible way to go.
no subject
He nods.]
Just be careful and alert me if you find anything odd.
no subject
But he just nods and keeps his eyes peeled as they go, although he squints as he spots something down a side street that catches his eye and has him slowing to a stop.
He points it out. ] Like that?
[ There's three people down there dancing in the street. ]
no subject
However, when Alibaba points out the three people dancing in the street, he looks over and nods.]
Just like that. [And distinctly, he can hear the faint sounds of music that sounds almost distorted coming through speakers.]
no subject
He's still staring down the street where the people are dancing, a slight frown on his lips. he, too, can hear the faint strains of strange music and it has him hesitating a little, glancing over at his god. ]
Will it affect us, too? The music?
no subject
Toushirou says nothing before:]
There's a chance it might, but [He glances over at Alibaba.] you won't be affected in your vessel form, at least.
no subject
He laughs at that estimation, rubbing at the back of his neck. ]
I guess it would be pretty hard to dance if I'm a sword and don't have legs, huh? Alright, I'm ready. For whatever we need to do to answer this prayer.
What about you and the music, though? Are you going to be okay? [ It's his purpose to protect you, after all. ]
no subject
Be my eyes and ears. If we can get the music to cut off first, I'll be fine afterwards.
[But with that said, he nods to him:] Come, Kouki.
no subject
I'll keep you safe. Don't worry.
[ And then Hitsugaya calls his name and there's a flare of white light as he shifts to his vessel form, the curved dark blade settling in the god's grip. ]
no subject
It's growing more comfortable holding Alibaba's vessel form like this, and it's not long before he decides to simply fly over to the area, keeping it safe in the air. He can still hear the faint sounds of music, taking in the people dancing on the streets below them.
His eyes scan the area, looking for any signs of the ayakashi.]
no subject
I think it's coming from there, Hitsugaya.
no subject
[He goes over to where Alibaba has pointed out, using shunpo to get there quicker. It doesn't take long before he reaches the corner, keeping to the air as he scans the street, hearing the music steadily grow louder.]
no subject
[ There's a cluster of two or three people down outside of a little shop, dancing and goofing around at the front of the shop, but even from here their movements seem a little... off. ]
no subject
[And he releases his reiatsu, enough to draw out the ayakashi. It's not long before the music becomes discordant, almost like a shrill static as it becomes drawn to the god's energy. As the ayakashi becomes more drawn to it, it finally decides to show itself, the music becoming nothing more than a ear-piercing scream.]
no subject
Alibaba's focus is on the ayakashi that's now propelling itself towards them, however, looking as if it's swimming through the air itself. ]
It's coming!
no subject
[Be glad you're in your vessel form, Alibaba, because his form flickers out of existence just before the ayakashi can touch them. He reappears back in the air, staring down at the ayakashi as it seems to be searching for them before noticing them up in the air. It screeches once more, charging at them with incredible speed.
Gripping the vessel form tightly, he swings it at the ayakashi. There's just a brief flicker of surprise when he doesn't see it cut through the creature like he initially expected, but he felt it hit, even if it seemed to have phased through the creature. He uses shunpo to back up, maintain some distance and watching the ayakashi carefully.]
no subject
But he, too, is bewildered when... nothing seemed to happen? ]
Wh-what happened? Did I...? I didn't miss, did I?
[ As if in response, the ayakashi gives another shriek, this one quite different than the last, outraged as it seems to flail in the air. ]
no subject
[He felt it hit, but he's eying the ayakashi curiously.]
...The ayakashi is moving strangely now. [As if it's missing a limb or something and it's been thrown off balance.]
no subject
no subject
Once it seems to finally resume its balance, it charges at him again, but it's slower this time as if whatever happened to its limb had rendered it immobile. The god evades it and slashes it again, this time through its neck and the ayakashi suddenly flails as if writhing in pain before it becomes limp, hanging in the air almost lifelessly.]
no subject
When the ayakashi goes still and limp, he stares at it, perplexed. ]
I still... didn't cut it. I mean... It felt like I cut it, but... Don't these things bleed? Is it dead? What's wrong with it?
no subject
Whatever it is, it is dangerous.]
Regardless, with it not moving, it makes it easier to rend.
[He grips the hilt, just enough of a warning for Alibaba to prepare himself.]
You who desecrate this Land of the Rising Sun!
With my advent, I, Kuraokami, lay waste with the Kouki,
and expel thy vast defilement!
[He charges at the limp ayakashi and slashes through it.]
Rend.
no subject
[ He'd known he probably had one, but nothing about this had gone the way he'd anticipated and he still sounds a little bewildered. And worried. ]
What good is a sword that can't cut things? Isn't that.... supposed to be what it's FOR? I'm sorry,
Hitsugaya. I don't know... I don't know what's wrong.
[ At least the Rending still works, the limp ayakashi vanishing and dissolving into nothing. ]
no subject
There's nothing wrong. [But talking to him like this isn't going to help either, so:] Return, Alibaba.
no subject
no subject
Come with me. We need to talk, Alibaba.
no subject
There's an immediate flare of panic at the words and he hurries after Hitsugaya.
Please don't break up with him because he's a failure as a sword.]I'm sorry, Hitsugaya.
no subject
He's quiet as he leads the shinki to a nearby park.]
Don't apologize. [He finally speaks up as he heads to the park bench.] And calm down.
no subject
He just sinks down on the bench and buries his head in his hands. ]
What kind of weapon is a sword that can't cut anything? What's even the point?
no subject
[The god sits beside him, his gaze focused ahead.]
It's fine if the sword doesn't cut. The power you seem to have in that form is a dangerous one all the same.
[He thinks about how the ayakashi flailed as if it lost a limb. Then when he cut through its head, it just stopped, motionless - like a puppet hanging on strings.]
