[CLOSED]
Who: Add, Rin Okumura, Zelda, Oscar, Lenneth... and more TBA!
Where: The depths of Henir's temple
When: October 1st through the 2nd
What: Doing science on the spooky chaos temple core was never a good plan.
Warnings: Various degrees of mind control/manipulation, existential horror, and at least one death. Will update as needed.
Once the formal party is over, Add is already back at his temple making preparations. A pair of messages are sent to his "assistants" to ensure that they're aware of the dateโa simple reminder and directions to his temple, along with the slightly ominous "Knock first, I'm not chasing you down if you get lost."
The outside of the temple is looking especially unkempt and overgrown today, but if Add's instructions are followed the door will open up into a wide dark space, blue cubes floating aimlessly about. Star-like lights glitter distantly in the abyss, occasionally blocked out by drifting dark shapes. Even further beyond that is a giant blue orb that never quite seems to stay in the same place. It's hard to miss, at least, but trying to gauge how big or far away it is might give you a headache.
Gravity appears to "stick" to the surface of each cubeโany surfaceโbut only as long as you remain in contact with them. So, get used to floating around and jumping between them. The meeting point is at the largest cube near the centre of the cluster, as per Add's directions.

[He can't accurately predict what might happen. There could be unforeseen effects. It could be dangerous. Most importantly, being at the temple while this is happening... if anything's going to go wrong, it'll hit the rest of the temple first.
Add goes quiet for a moment, a more serious expression falling on his face. How should he word this so Rin can understand...?]
This isn't something that concerns you. You'd just get in the way of things, so stay out of the temple for awhile.

Though Add manages to strike a cord within Rin. It doesn't concern him? Well that hurts, but it makes Rin even more fired up.]
No, it does concern me. I'm not your roommate, I'm your shinki! You don't want me gettin' in the way?! Well tough shit! It's my job to get in your way, and make sure you're okay!
no subject
This is something more important than a silly game of gods and shinki. There's nothing you could possibly do to assist with this, and you stand to gain nothing from it. Just because you're my shinki doesn't mean you should put your own life at risk for no reason!
[... and yet, he's reminded of Jakob's stubborn protectiveness, even if he and Rin haven't known eachother for nearly that long. Maybe he's not as dedicated to his job as his predecessor, but he seems like the type to try and meddle no matter what. Add sighs heavily, leaning back into his "chair" with a hand pressed to his temples.
There's one other possibility he's considered... one that he's decided not to bring up with his volunteers, if only not to make them worry or doubt him. He looks Rin over briefly, considering his options. If Rin is likely to try and follow him or get into trouble anyway...]
I may have a job for you, but first you have to promise you'll listen to everything I tell you to do. Is that clear?

Once more Add is speaking like Rin's putting his life on the line. So the experiment probably is dangerous, and it is reckless of him to involve himself in something that could cost his life. He doesn't want to die again, but if what Add plans to do could be fatal, he couldn't just ignore it.
When Add speaks again, Rin assumes he would forbid his participation, but instead...] You'd let me go?
[ Rin's baffled, but before Add takes back his word, he promises.]
I'll carry out everything you ask me to do, to a T.

[It's hard to find Rin's enthusiasm reassuring, but at least he can tell that the shinki is taking this seriously. Add folds his arms, pausing to check their surroundings first to ensure no one else is listening. Only once he's sure they won't be overheard does he continue, his voice dropping to just above a whisper.]
There's a slim possibility I may start to act... unusually during this experiment. [He's done something like this before, but he still can't be sure if those side-effects were solely the result of Monad's glitches or how much of it stems from his own abilities. Nothing of that scale has happened to him so far, not even when he tried time travelling, but this is entirely new territory with plenty of unknown factors. His original plan was to just hope for the best, but] If I stop listening to reason and you feel the situation is dangerous, there's an emergency override code that will limit Dynamo's capabilities for a period of time. This is only to be used as a last resort. I'll be putting a great deal of trust in you not to abuse this. Do you understand?
[Ideally the emergency override won't have to be used, but if it does end up being needed... Rin may very well have the most important role of all.]

He listens carefully, making sure he doesn't miss anything. Though he does raise an eyebrow as Add mentions he might act unusual? What the hell does that mean? Though if he does act strangely, it will be something Rin can recognize, so he doesn't speak on it.
Emergency override code? Last resort? Add must be really prepared for the worst. Rin wishes to know more about the situation, but he understands that Add is placing trust in him to reveal this information. So,Rin pushes his concerns to the side, and nods his head.]
I understand.
[Hopefully he didn't have to use it, and everything about Add's experiment goes well. Though, if he must, the scientist could count on him to carry out this countermeasure.
He lowers his voice as well, since it seem as if Add wishes to be discreet.]
So what's the emergency override code?
no subject
He hesitates for a split second before pressing the final confirmation button. It's a risk, but so is going in without it.]
P-D-two-five-one-nine-zero-seven-nine. [... luckily, he's not expecting Rin to actually remember that string of numbers, so he quickly adds:] "Code: Paladin". You'll need to address Dynamo by name for it to register as a command.
[With that out of the way he turns his attention to the side, drawing the curtain of holoscreens in front of him again. He's speaking normally now, so the time for secrecy is over.] There are three others coming, they should all be here shortly. We'll be heading into the temple depths once preparations are complete. Don't wander off if you don't want to be left behind.

If Rin did have his memory back, it would be more significant since it's something important in his own world. Though, the word is nothing more than a code, which he still takes pretty seriously.] Okay. I got it.
[ As Add mentions that he has people coming over, he wonders if they are friends of his. He, at least confided to them about the details of the expedition if they're participating. Maybe they have a similar vision. Either way,Rin is anxious to meet them.
Then he realizes something!]
Why didn't you tell me sooner? I could've made snacks!
[First impressions were important! It may be a dangerous expedition, but it's important to be hospitable in your own home. Rin quickly runs towards the kitchen to make something fast.]
