Who: Nanako and Everyone else!

Where: Nanshe's Temple
What: It's Nanako's 7th birthday! She's invited everyone over for cake.

[ The party is a little last minute, because Nanako hadn't exactly planned on having anything until a few days before, but it doesn't take much to make her happy and the decorating was simple enough to do, especially when she enlisted some of her friends for help.

Her temple is decorated with some streamers and colorful balloons in pink and purple, the doors swung open so people could go in and out as they wished, since the weather was still warm, even for October.

There's a birthday cake, too, although it's small and round and meant mostly for Nanako, seven candles placed carefully atop it, waiting to be blown out. Instead of making a cake big enough for everyone who might show up, she instead had asked for help baking cupcakes, some chocolate, some vanilla, the frosting in flavors of peanut butter or strawberry and mixed and matched between them.

Nanako herself is dressed up in a pink flowery dress, not quite so fancy as what she wore for the dinner party a few nights past, but something a little nicer than every day, her hair done up with pink ribbons. She looks a little nervous when the first few guests show up, unsure if anyone would really come, but once her friends start showing up, that's entirely forgotten as she is happy to see everyone who shows up to visit and happily bounces between all her guests to say hello and make sure they get a cupcake.

And if she looks like she's concentrating especially hard on her wish when she blows out her candles? Well. She's doing her best. Celebrating with her friends and almost-family here might not be the same as what her birthday might have been at home, but she's still happy for the chance, all the same. ]

Okay! [ Since he didn't seem to mind if she opened it, she carefully unwrapped the box in the pretty paper to open it and peer inside, her eyes going wide in delight when she spots the gifts inside.

The cat immediately gets squished in a hug as she giggles. ] Oh, it's so cute! And ohhh, this is so pretty! Thank you, Trunks! [ She tugs the blanket out as well, admiring it in excitement. ] I can be a mermaid!

[And any tension over whether or not she'd like them, is gone. It's almost an audible sigh of relief that she is clearly so excited by the gifts.]

I...did have to ask for some help. Mai advised me some, and I tried to think about when we've done stuff together, Nanako.

[There is a hint of pink to his cheeks but he's ignoring it. Also stubbornly NOT going to rub at his shoulder sheepishly either.]

[ Nanako giggles at that, setting her presents down so she could come hug him. ]

They're great presents, I love them, Trunks! Thank you!

[No turning down Nanako hugs, ever. Nope. Hopefully she's alright with getting picked up in the hug though. It's a good solid one, comfortably tight but not too tight.]

Enjoy, Birthday Girl. Thank you for being my friend.

[And he is happy to either hold her still or put her down when she's ready.]

So what else did you get? And how hard did you work--and worry--about decorating for all of this?

[ She giggles at that, giving him a warm hug when he lifts her up. ]

I didn't work too hard. And my shinki helped! Suou's really good at decorating. And the places he couldn't reach, I just flew up to! And Izumo helped me with all the cupcakes, so that wasn't too hard either. Mmm, but I got some really cute stuffed animals and Shun-oniichan got me a bean bag chair that looks like a cat! [ Because she's gotta ruin his reputation to someone. ] But I'm just glad I could have friends come and spend my birthday with me.

[At least she's ruining his reputation with someone he hasn't met yet?]

Nanako, I can't imagine any of us NOT wanting to celebrate with you if we're able.

[She is too cute for it, and fun to be around. She is also welcome to be carried or held as long as she wants.]

That's right, you do fly. You can come help me practice then sometime. Maybe we can get Goten too, and make a game of tag.

[ Her eyes light up at this, bright with excited anticipation. ]

Can we? I love playing tag! Although Goten's faster than me, still. Are you as fast as Goten?

I honestly don't know yet? I mean, I sort of found out I can do it during a crisis, and haven't had as much chance to practice since then.

[Going to move her from hugging him, to settler her on his shoulders. Keeping her balanced, and more than happy to let her be there.]

If I am, then we'll have to team up and beat him, right? He's fun to play with.

He is fun to play with! I like getting to play with him. Maybe you can have a race?

[ She giggles when she's lifted up high to be settled on his shoulders, fingers holding on until she has her balance again. ]

Whoa. You're really tall!

[That makes him laugh.]

I'm actually not, but you're up high so I seem taller.

[He has absolutely no trouble with her perch and is amused.]

I don't think either Goten or I would turn down a race. And I'll make sure you get to be involved too. But first--where are those cupcakes? You knew those would be bait, didn't you?

{Teasing her, and willing to let her lead and give him directions to the rest of the party.]

[ She giggles happily, resting her arms atop his head as she leans against him and points ahead to where the cupcakes wait. ]

They're over there, see? Aren't they pretty? I worked really hard on them and there's flavors, too! Do you like cupcakes, Trunks?

I do. I haven't really had food yet that I don't like, but cupcakes are a definite favorite.

[More than comfortable with her riding his shoulders, following her directions and his nose. They do look really pretty.]

I don't know though, Nanako--are you sure we can eat these? They look more like decorations to me.

[He is teasing, promise.]
