( closed ) ❀ marigold
Who: Sakura, Tsuzuki, Yamanbagiri, Add, Charlotte, Zelda, Hitsugaya... and probably more tbh.
When: 3-6 October
Where: mostly Konohanasakuya's temple
What: After Add ruins everything, the temple is unexpectedly caught up in the aftermath. A new shinki also appears and really, no one at this temple is allowed to rest for awhile.
1 ❀ (3/10) late morning, closed to Tsuzuki (

( Sakura has been a mess since she returned home the previous evening. Unable to reach Add and unsure of who else to contact, she'd accepted that she needed to let things play out for a bit. Since returning home, both Tsuzuki and Yamanbagiri will definitely be able to tell something is wrong with their goddess. She's visibly upset and unable to speak at all without crying and easily cries herself to sleep.
When she wakes up on the third, not much has changed. She wakes up late— much later than usual and when she decides to reveal herself to everyone, it's obvious she's still been crying despite her best efforts to hide it. She's made herself some green tea to try to clear her mind but when she reaches for the cup, she's distracted and knocks it over, spilling it on the table's surface. )
O-oh! I'm s-s-so sorry…!
( She can get a cloth to wipe it up. Oh, where is one? In the kitchen? She can go… Her eyes begin to well up with tears all over again and it's less about the tea but more everything else. )
2 ❀ (4/10) Morning, closed to Add (
subtract )
( On the morning of the 4th, she wakes up from another poor night. Having spent the entire previous day a complete wreck, a sense of guilt weighs heavily on her for inconveniencing Tsuzuki and Yamanbagiri. She's probably worried them terribly and that's the last thing she wants to do. So when she wakes up, she takes a moment to collect herself and tries to get it together. Her face is still a little puffy from crying but again, she's tried to cover it up. Does it still look bad? Or is it just in her mind? Maybe a little of both.
But if she can just clean herself up enough and try to go about the day... that might be good. Maybe she'll make everyone breakfast? Or clean up a little. A clean environment can clear the mind, after all. She's careful not to disturb Tsuzuki or Yamanbagiri if they're still around.
The residential part of her temple is open with open air hallways and large windows and doors to make it easy to see into the grounds. As she passes the front gardens, she sees someone. A visitor? It's not uncommon but she really wonders who it could be now of all times... )
3 ❀ (5/10) Morning, closed to Charlotte (
appealingdame )
( Her mind is put to ease a little now that Add's returned, albeit, suffering some sort of effects. It's still stresssful but it's better than it was before. That said, she really isn't prepared to startled awake so early in the morning by a vision of all things. And such a familiar one at that! She'd recognized the uniforms and even some of the faces in the memory. In fact, she was quite certain she'd recognized the person she was dreaming about…
It's difficult waking up but she can't sit back idly when someone needs her. She gets dressed quickly and puts on her shoes, ready to head to… well, Bishamon's temple? That's where everyone meets their shinki these days, right?
But as soon as she steps into the garden, she stops just short. )
—M-miss Charlotte?!
( She's never had someone appear at her temple before?! )
4 ❀ (5/10) afternoon, closed to Zelda (
sageprincess )
( After learning from Add about some of the people involved, Sakura tries to reach who she can. Starting with Princess Zelda since it's a familiar name. It's a blessing that she's able to reach Zelda at all after trying to contact her and Sakura is quick to teleport to her side— focusing on meeting Zelda to do so. )
Princess Zelda! ( Sakura is immediately beginning to fuss over her, ) Are you hurt?
5 ❀ (6/10) morning, closed to Hitsugaya (
freezetheheavens )
( She still doesn't know the entire story but she's managed to learn just enough to know that it's probably for the best that she find better accommodations for Princess Zelda. Something had happened with her and Add and though neither seemed to really… care, she wonders how that will change once the shock and effects of whatever they'd meddled with pass.
She's uncertain who to really call at first, thinking about it carefully for a moment. Who should she call? And who should she even explain too? Given that Zelda will need to be cared for for an uncertain amount of time… a healer of some sort would be best. And perhaps one who could reason with her?
It's a bit of a long shot but she contacts Hitsugaya and requests to see him. If it isn't too much trouble, of course. She gives the location of her temple and waits nervously at the entrance.
She's doing much better than she has in recent days but she still looks tired. Really, she should probably rest but she hasn't had a chance yet. When Hitsugaya arrives, she gives a nervous bow, )
Thank you for coming, Hitsugaya-san.

( No she feels a little bad for not reaching out to Rin sooner. )
He's... ( Her hands, folded neatly in front of her, begin to turn at the edges of her sleeve and she frowns, ) He's not quite the same a-as he was before... And his memory...
( She chances a glance at Rin. Does he know about this yet? )
He doesn't remember much. I supposed that makes sense since it sounds like whatever happened w-was quite traumatic...
... Not that I really know anything.
no subject
As Sakura explains how Add isn't quite himself and suffers from memory loss, he understands. Rin suffers a bit of the same symptoms, but he considers that Add might have endured more. The esper directly exposed himself to the core by trying to harness it's power. Maybe since Add's a god, the effects are much more severe.]
I was there. I had a front row seat to everything, and it seems things did take a turn for the worse.
[How bad? Well Rin doesn't quite remember all the details. Sakura says, it was traumatic, then something terrible must have happened. Rin wonders if Add is in such a bad state, if he should go through with visiting him. Will his presence hurt, or help him?
Rin hides his uncertainty behind a hopeful smile.] So, he's still recovering? Guess he's not up for visitors?
no subject
It's fine. ( And she'll give him a small, reassuring smile, ) I think.... it might be nice, actually.
( She hopes. In normal cases, visitors do good for the mental and emotional help of people who are recovering. But... this isn't really normal, is it? )
I can take you to him, if you'd like.
no subject
Please!
[Rin isn't one to be formal. Though he does bow slightly at the hip to show his appreciation towards Sakura. At least, he's indebted to her for looking after Add. He straightens up, and gestures to her temple.]
By the way, you've got a really nice place here. It seems peaceful here.
[It's a stark contrast from Add's temple which looks very uninviting and neglected on the outside. Maybe when things are sorted out,and they're not banned from their temple, Rin could work on maintaining the grounds around the tower.]
no subject
Thank you.
( It is a nice temple. She's been told it reflects her well and while she isn't sure... it's perfect for her. The compliment means a lot to her because she's come to think of it as her home here and it's only natural to be proud of one's home. She'll give a small bow in thanks and then turn, beckoning for Rin to follow her inside. )
He doesn't really leave his room much so he should be there... ( They pass some large open rooms. There isn't much decoration inside but the little bit that can be seen is all that it needs-- ink scrolls, simple paintings, careful flower arrangements. They'll walk past a few more rooms (clearly bedrooms) until they get to one. She pauses in front of it and glances at Rin, ) I-if he isn't here... ( It's something she worries about whenever she checks on. She's been worrying a lot these days and though she'll never admit it, it's tiring, ) ....he shouldn't be too far.
( She gives the frame a small tap and calls, )
Add? You have a guest....
( And waiting a moment, she'll peek inside to see if he's around. )
no subject
When he sees his guest is Rin, he turns his attention completely on the shinki. When he last saw Rin he was with his brother... Yukio seemed to be a much more competent guardian for him. Add can already think of a few reasons why Rin might be visiting him now.]
What do you need?
Sorry for the delay!
He does hold his breath with anticipation as Sakura knocks on the door, and when there isn't an answer, she peeks inside. He must be inside, since the door is open wider, and Rin can see Add sitting there on the floor.
There's a sigh of relief as he sees that his god is okay, even if he seems a little out of it. As for the question, Rin's not sure how to respond. What does he need? He doesn't know why,but it makes him feel a little angry.]
Hello? Long time no see? Isn't that how you greet someone you haven't seen in awhile?! But what the heck, let's start with what I need from you! A phone call, a carrier pigeon, a whisper maybe...you know some idea that you're okay!
it's cool!
Well, she hadn't quite expected that from Rin at all. He'd always been so polite and nice when speaking to her! And here he was, going into Add. Well, she can't really blame him if he was worried. He's only yelling at Add because he was worried and he only worried because he cared!
She makes a small sound, something like a polite cough and a laugh, and raises her sleeve to her mouth, hiding the small smile forming. )
I'll leave you two alone for now. ( Whatever happens right now should between a shinki and his god. To Rin, she adds quietly, ) If you need anything, let me know.
( She won't be too far away. Just down the hall was a living room so it's safe to assume that's where she'll be.
... Maybe making some tea.
Yes, she thinks Rin might need that. )
no subject
He's definitely mad, but... there's something else behind that anger. Add is quiet for a long moment, trying to understand.]
Were you... worried about me? [There's disbelief in his voice, like he still can't quite understand why Rin would worry. Add nearly got everyone killed. Rin hasn't even been his shinki that long, Yukio would be a much better god for him. Why should he feel like he has to worry about Add...?
Perhaps it's just a misunderstanding. He sits up a little straighter, relaxing back into another blank expression.]
You don't have to be. If it's just because I'm your god, I can revoke your name. You're a good shinki. Someone else will take you in.
[He might be sad about it later, but that's okay. It would be better for Rin to stay away from him.]
no subject
Rin opens his mouth, but Add mentions revoking his vessel name, and he closes it. He's not expecting Add to consider stripping him of his name, and he's not sure how to feel about it. It does hurt, but not like an injury, like his heart is sinking. Did Add really want to release him, or was he doing it to protect him?
The shinki moves past those raw emotions to think. What did he want to do?]
Well, if that's what you decide to do, I can't stop you. But if you leave it up to me, I refuse.
[ Despite Add's experiment going awry, there hasn't been any reason for Rin to regard the esper unfit to be his master. He hasn't known many gods,or seen examples of healthy relationships between a god and their shinki, to feel that Add is irresponsible. Rin knows that Add isn't perfect, and Rin certainly is far from it too. Still, there's something about Add that he really likes. He's known this fact, since Add helped him perform a borderline when no one else could. Surely, that's a sign.]
For someone who's so smart, you can be a little dense too! It's not because your my god, idiot.I'm your friend! F-R-E-A-N-D! You bet, I'll find you, when you don't want to be found! Or, come to your rescue, if you ever need me. Even support you, when everyone is against you. You think, I would do that for you because you're my god?!
[Rin shakes his head.] I follow Add, not Henir.
no subject
Rin's answer is made quite clear: he doesn't want Add to revoke his name. Without his own insecurities and self-doubt to cloud his mind, at least it's easy for Add to accept that. He gives a small nod, not quite able to meet the shinki's eyes as he continues to speak. Saying things like calling them friends, that he'd help and support him no matter what...
'Of course we all have different goals, but we can help each other to fulfill them! That’s what friend are for!'
He lets out a tiny sigh, raising a hand to his forehead.
'And if you need anything, you should tell us! I’m sure we can help!'
This conversation is giving him a headache.]
... This isn't the first time something like this has happened because of me. I've hurt a lot of people. I'll likely end up hurting more. I can't change without giving up everything that's ever mattered to me.
You're a good person, Rin. I think I'd be upset if you got hurt again. If this is really what you want then I won't force you to leave, but you're free to change your mind at any time.
no subject
He nods his head as Add expresses that he doesn't want to see Rin hurt, especially in association to him. The door is still open, if he chooses to leave. Initially, Rin thought of just assuring Add that he'll be fine, and he would never leave. Somehow, he couldn't verbalize that. Maybe the gravity of the situation settles in, and he realizes he can't make such a promise without being untruthful.]
I understand. I can't promise that I won't butt into your affairs, but I will be more careful.
[He didn't know what Add was capable of doing before, but now he does! So he might be cautious when it comes to the esper and his experiments. He's not sure if he can divert another disaster, but he can at least inform himself about situation.
The topic makes Rin a little curious, though. There was something that Add was trying to accomplish in the core. Recalling the detail is a bit foggy for Rin, perhaps because he didn't really understand his god's ambition to begin with. He figures it might be a good opportunity to ask, since they were already conversing.]
What were you trying to do? To go to the core...it seems like you were really determined to achieve something?
no subject
He can no longer feel that spark of determination, the unyielding desire to pursue his goals no matter what the cost, but with his memory starting to return he can look back and analyze his own actions. There are certain things he knows are important to him. Even if he feels nothing now, he knows what it felt like before. His reason for going to the core is one of those certainties.
Add straightens his posture again, collecting himself. It's easier to talk about something so personal when he embraces the hollowness inside him.]
Sometimes, outsiders like us disappear from this world. Some people who are important to me were among them. About three months ago, I performed an experiment to acquire a set of coordinates to find out where those people go. That was where the portal was supposed to lead to.
It's likely such a portal would be able to send gods back to their original worlds as well, but my priority has always been to find those people first.
[There are important people to him back in Elrios as well, but he's sure they'll do fine without him for awhile. Finding Roxas and Jakob come first.]
no subject
As Add explains his intention of opening the portal, Rin feels that part of the mystery has been solved. So he was doing all of this to reunite with his friends? It was quite selfish, but not at all malevolent. Add did get carried away, but maybe that's how badly he wanted to reach them. Perhaps that's why Zelda and Lenneth has joined him on this pursuit, since they were also hoping to return home.
Rin beams at Add, happy to learn something new about his master. He feels he's starting to understand him a little more.]
I hope you find them. Well, it seems you won't stop until you do, but you should take better care of yourself too. You don't want to worry them when you finally see them, right?
[Though if they are truly Add's friends then, they probably already know what to expect.]
no subject
... They might be mad at me. I promised not to do anything reckless. [and that sure didn't work out for him. But if it's his friends, then... they'd still be worried more than angry, he thinks. They care about him, even if he doesn't always understand why. That's just something that friends do for each other.]
The last place I was in... I was also trying to prevent people from disappearing. But then I ended up here instead. [He tried playing it safe and his efforts ended up wasted. It doesn't justify his recklessness, but it's an explanation.] If I disappear, I might forget everything. More people will go missing. I don't want to start all over again.
[Sakura could disappear next, or Rin. He doesn't want to end up alone. But is it better to be alone and whole or reunited but broken...? He can't be sure.]
no subject
[ Rin chuckles a little, though it's really too soon to joke about the incident causally. He's sure a lot of things are still weighing on his god's mind. However, he feels it's safe enough to tease Add about his rashness.
Rin didn't know disappearing was so prevalent. In this other world, Add was trying to keep people from vanishing too. It seems to be something Add seems to fear. Or maybe it's the idea of forgetting everything and everyone around him? Rin can relate, lacking his memories, it's certainly an awkward position.
It sounds like heavy stuff. Rin feels if he has all of that on his shoulders, he'll definitely be crushed. It's a lot for one person to constantly worry about.]
Even if you're a god, you're still one person. You can't solve this problem by yourself, and it doesn't have to be something you alone have to worry about. I know you're determined, but if you were to die, all the things you fear might happen anyway. You might forget everything. People will go missing, and you'd have to start from scratch, too.
There has to be something in between extreme and...[ Rin looks pensive for a moment as he tries to figure out the right word to use. After a moment he gives up.]...not so extreme, right?
no subject
And it's also true that the threat of losing everything lingers regardless of what he does. Inaction and catastrophic failure hold the same risks. He chose to try despite the risks because it still had a chance of success. Was there some other option in the middle he didn't properly consider? Should he have tried to take things even more slowly and carefully? It's hard for him to imagine since he was so sure that's what he was doing. How careful does he need to be?
He frowns, looking up at Rin expectantly.]
What do you think I should do?
no subject
Though, if he was in Add's shoes, he'd probably try to open the portal again. Not because he has something to prove, it's simply his determination to reach his friends, that's much greater than his pride. Though, how could the scientist do things differently from before? How can he prevent other people from getting harm during his ambition? It's unfair to affect the people who aren't involved, but if they were aware of Add's plans then that would be their own discretion.
He shrugs his shoulders.] I can't tell you what to do, but why not share your research with everyone?
You can't be the only one who wants to return to their world, or even see people that has disappeared from here. Then the burden wouldn't just be your own, it could be something that everyone works towards and is willing to sacrifice for. At least, I think the newer gods and shinki will be more on board to help, if you explain everything.
no subject
He can't help but be a little surprised at Rin's answer, though. After all this, he still wants Add to keep trying?]
I've shared my research before. Making my findings public prevents the data from being lost. I've tried collaborating with people before, too. There was another scientist who used to be here, I wouldn't have been able to obtain the spatiotemporal coordinates without his assistance. And Zelda, and Lenneth... I asked them to come because I thought they could help.
[They did, though perhaps not in the ways he expected. It feels like he's following all the right steps but still getting a wrong answer. His posture deflates a bit, shoulders slumping.]
The experiment worked perfectly... I don't understand why the portal failed. [Would it have made any difference even if he did have more help?]
no subject
He frowns as he notices his god's posture deflating. Poor guy.Somehow he wants to make Add feel better, but he's not sure how to do that. Especially since his master can take what he says next a certain way.]
You did manage to activate the portal, but...I think you kinda lost yourself there. I'm not sure what was according to the plan or not, but maybe you took in too much of the void into yourself. Maybe that was how you were able to harness its power, but I do think that's where things started to fall apart.
[He's not blaming Add, since he shows visible concern of the esper's well being.Maybe it was just too much for one person to handle? Maybe there was a better way to harness that power? Or perhaps there was another power source that was more stable? But what did he know? He didn't understand any of this stuff!]
no subject
So... maybe he shouldn't be the sole decision maker for these things, yeah. Even if he knows exactly how to use that power, he's proven to be a bit too... impulsive. And it's likely that it is more than any one person could handle to begin with.]
I guess... I could try. [Working with others. Beyond just getting people to assist him and handling the bulk of the work alone, something more like what he did with Ekko. Equal contributions. At the very least, a better distribution of responsibilities.]
I'm not sure how many people here could understand the kind of work I do... but I can try it again. I don't want to give up yet.
no subject
Hey, if even one person understands at least you reached out to them. How do they say it? Exhaust all probability?
[ That's definitely not the saying, but you get it, right?]
I'll definitely help you as best as I can, too. Just remember you're not alone in this, okay?
[He smiles. He's certainly one of the many people who doesn't understand Add's research, but that didn't mean he's discouraged from helping Add achieve his goal either.]
