Who: Nari Reno and Urashima Kotetsu

[This was a first. Between running a restaurant and answering prayers at home, actually attempting now to have a social life, there's been really no time for prayers. Now seems like a good enough time to finally take Urashima on one even if it's not one that seem appropriate for one of them at least. Mainly that it was at a bar... at night... and Urashima looked nowhere near 21.

This was going to either end well or be a disaster.]

Alright then. Supposed to be stopping a bartender from overselling alcohol to his patrons. Seems easy enough.

[Nari chews on his lip as he looks at Urashima.]

Sorry. Gonna have to go in on my own. You'll be running backup, as in if anyone gets into a fight.... try not to kill anyone?

( Definitely no where near 21 but at least he looks like he belongs in the Near Shore. He's taken to dressing in more modern clothes since summer ended, his sword tucked away in a bag slung on his shoulder just in case anything happens but at least it's out of sight. Kamekichi rests on his shoulder, ever patient. )

Alright...

( Ugh, he wanted to help more and he cant' really do much out here! At least, that's what he thinks until Nari tells him to keep watch basically. )

I'm not going to kill anyone! ( Nari ,who do you think he is!!!! Chikusa? ) ... If you need help, you'll get me though, right?

( He isn't going to try to do everything by himself, is he... )

[The fact that Urashima has a turtle that Nari is sure is some kind of monster in disguise and a sword... that's why there's a warning.]

Good. And yes. If you hear crashing inside... I've probably pissed someone off. Okay? See you in a bit.

[Might try and do everything by himself.

Be very worried as he walks into the bar, Urashima.]

Crashing?!

( Wait, what. Before he can really say anything else, though, Nari's already going in.

And then there's Urashima. Alone with his turtle. He'll sigh and crouch by the wall and watch as people go in. So far, so good, and every now and then, he'll shoot Nari a short message to look out for some patrons. The guy in the red shirt already smells pretty bad and the lady with the blonde hair looked like she was yelling on the phone in the parking lot earlier. Things like that! )

[Bar fights are fun, okay?

Inside isn't much more exciting as Nari ducks close enough to the bar to watch the bartender work. Occasionally he checks his texts as more people get drunk and come and go, and he watches the ones Urashima asked him to watch out for.

It's a little too quiet for Nari's liking... bars here aren't very exciting, and watching a bartender is kind of boring. So he'll ask Urashima to take a picture of a certain turtle as he keeps his eyes on all the drinks being poured.]

( He can definitely send pictures! Because it's so slow, he'll even take his time trying to get a good picture except they're kind of at a bar at night and there aren't really any scenic places to take good photos with. So what he ends up settling for is a selfie of both him and Kamekichi. Of course, he's grinning and looking like he's still having a good time even if he's just watching people and Kamekichi is... well, sleeping. Is anyone surprised?

And after a moment, he'll text, )

It's really quiet.

Is this really the right place?

[Awww... that's a cute picture! Definitely going to save that because everyone needs cute things in their life.]

It'll be quiet for a little longer.

Believe me, some drunks take a lot of alcohol before anything happens.

[And some of these people are slowly hitting the right mark for potential anger.]

What about the bartender? Is he being careful?

( Because he's watching the people leave and.... they seem okay? Maybe a little rowdier but not angry. )

Nope. Opposite of it. Dude seems like a pushover. Back home serving this much alcohol to a patron can get your license revoked.

[Isn't that kind of the point of why they're here though?]

Maybe he needs some help. You know, after we leave.

( Another employee or something? Outside, someone starts to yell and Urashima looks up. It looks like some guy is beginning to get a little hostile but his friend pulls him away before it can escalate. )

[Another employee would work, or better training. Nari ain't too worried.]

I'll whip up and ad for him or something when we get home.

[There's ranting at the end of the bar about local politics, mostly one guy, and the rest seem to be agreeing with him or ignoring. So much temptation to intentionally knock drinks over...]

( Good! It sounds like they have a plan and Urashima will keep waiting the night out.

There's a bit of silence on his end for a moment and then he shoots Nari a message, )

I think I heard something a little farther. ( It sounds like fighting at another place. ) Can I go check? It's really boring out here!!!

( Please let him go. )

[Not all night. Bars close eventually.

Hmm...]

As long as you're careful.

[And please text him if it's really dangerous.]

I'm always careful!

( But he'll definitely be careful. With Nari's permission, he's just going to dash off for a bit now. It's a little farther down the street and he can't help but shake off a nervous feeling... a chill down his back. A few bars down, he finds a crowd of people huddled outside, all complaining drunkenly about a fight that he just missed. Had the guys had much to drink? No one thought so but maybe they were wrong...

Without having seen the fight for himself, Urashima isn't sure what to make of what he's hearing but he'll report back to Nari, )

There was a fight in front of a different bar. I missed it, though. :(

[Always... Nari's pretty sure there's things that Urashima probably needs to tell him. But no pressure. There's time.

The bartender is definitely a pushover and more customers are leaving a lot drunker than they should.]

Sounds like you were hoping to jump in. If you come back, there's a few mad guys that just left.

I wasn't! But other drunk people aren't really good witnesses. :(
They kept saying the people fighting didn't drink a lot but I don't know...

( But he is heading back to the bar right now. )

The guys wearing suits?

( They're the loudest ones he can see. )

Everyone has different tolerances.

[So... he's just gonna head over to the door and peek out to see what's going on before replying.]

Yep. That's them.

This bartender is really, really bad at his job. Think I'll start clearing the bar out. Don't get scared by running people.

[Time to close up shop for the night. First! Time to short circuit the thermometer and make the place way too hot. Second... well, starting a fire isn't too safe, but hey, he's got other things he can manipulate. There's some screams of panic and several of the patrons will be running out, rambling about ghosts a few minutes after the text is sent.]

( Please don't start a fire in a bar with a lot of alcohol.

He keeps an eye on the men in question and the next thing he knows, everyone is running out screaming about ghosts? He ends up leaning against the bar's wall to avoid getting run over and hops around the crowd of spooked drinkers to see the targets. They're beginning to yell a lot more. They're getting louder and one gets ready to throw a punch--

That's when Urashima draws a line, creating an invisible wall for the first guy to punch. He hurts his hand and jumps back, hissing and cursing. What happened? He clearly hadn't hit the other guy? There's a lot of drunken confusion going on here. )

Nari!

( He doesn't need help, at least, he doesn't think he does. He thinks he can do a pretty good job at keeping people from getting hurt if he's just using lines. But he should probably call Nari if something is going on.

At the same time... he feels a chill down his spine and he shivers, drawing his arms around him like he's trying to warm up. Something doesn't feel right to him. )

[He won't, he won't. That's a waste of alcohol. You should only set shots on fire.

Once the bar is cleared out, Nari walks out with his hands in his pockets. This is to prevent people from seeing him flick his fingers, sending small gusts of wind at them to scare them a little more. When that doesn't seem to be working, he looks at the sky and lets out a sigh.]

Hey Urashima, think it'd be weird if I made it rain here? I think these drunks could use a cold shower.

[And then they can find the source of all of this.]

( When Nari comes out, Urashima is quick to rush to his side, practically tugging at his arm to get his attention. He seems particularly tense and alert right now, glancing around the nearby area with sharp eyes. He doesn't remember but he used to be a good scout and his eyes dart towards every shadow and movement around them, making careful notes without him even realizing it.

Nari will probably begin to feel what Urashima is right now-- he's scared. He's starting to get scared, fear welling up inside him as something starts to agitate him more and more. He manages to keep it under control, keeping it down and channeling it into a protective energy. He isn't sure what's going on but as he holds onto Nari, it's more like he's trying to keep himself between Nari and something where ever that something may be. )

Something's wrong. It's really cold. ( And it's not from the wind. Urashima's nerves, his sudden chill... even Kamekichi on his shoulder seems to be bristling. He's sensing something. He looks at the people gathering around outside, taking pictures and making angry social media messages about their nights being ruined, ) I don't think they should be here...

( Make it rain, Nari. Send them running. )

[Fear is something that this redhead feels all the time, but it's still shocking to feel it come from someone else. Even deeper than what he himself is feeling. And if Urashima is afraid... Well, Nari has never had much of a sixth sense. He'll trust Urashima on this.]

... so cold shower it is. Might wanna step under an overhang if you don't wanna get soaked.

[Not like Urashima will be given much of a chance to as Nari takes a hand out of his pocket to wave it in the air. The wind picks up even more as the smell of rain permeates the air. Just for safe measure, he makes the temperature drop in the water as fat droplets start to fall down.

Within seconds the entire area is drenched. The drunks who can run are. Others try and scramble with some of them tripping over themselves to get away from the random downpour.]

Alright. I'll get us dry in a moment. Lemme know if you know where the cold feeling is coming from, okay?

( Despite the suggestion, he doesn't move. He stays right next to Nari, completely on guard and barely even seems to register that it's raining. As the people begin to leave, the air clears up and he can focus more on whatever it is that's making him anxious. It feels cold and heavy and his eyes dart at every shadow and every movement he can catch. It's strange but it feels like he knows exactly where he should be looking and...

From the bar he was at earlier, coming closer... )

Back there. ( Is it hiding in one of the side streets? ) Something's watching us.

( And it's only then that he lets go, beginning to run ahead, slinging his bag around to retrieve his sword and looking back at Nari, )

Are we going?

[For someone who loves the rain, Nari can't get himself to like it right now. There was just too much anxiety and anger all around even as the patrons run off. With another small wave, the rain stops, the area soaked to the bone. He takes a deep breath to start to warm himself and dry up when Urashima speaks.]

Watching us? [That can't be good. He takes off after his shinki, not too sure what exactly they would be coming across in the alley.]

Don't go attacking it if it's an ayakashi!

( Don't attack if it's an ayakashi? Urashima can't help but give Nari a look, genuinely confused. )

We can stop it. ( That's it. He isn't trying to argue or resist Nari, but he can't help but be honest with how he sees the situation. ) If we don't people will get hurt.

( Why would Nari not want him to fight? He doesn't really get it... The action they should take seems obvious and straightforward to him, but he's also naturally inclined to fight and protect without thinking very much of himself. )

[Learning about ayakashi has made him wary to ever want to tackle with one, and Nari is just really, really worried about Urashima getting hurt.]

I know, but... isn't there another way? I know the gist of what to do, but what if it's too strong for us?

[Fear. If Urashima had the same ability to feel it like Nari can with him, there's a lot of it right now.]

( He can't feel it directly but he doesn't need to. Urashima is a naive spirit but he isn't oblivious and after a second, he thinks he understands. What seems simple to Urashima doesn't seem as easy to Nari. He lowers his sword some and focuses his attention completely on Nari (though, he's still aware of the dreadful feeling he's sensing too). )

There's always another way. ( They can call for help. Take on a more defensive course of action than an offensive one. They could track the movements of the ayakashi while waiting for help. They could clear the area. ) But I think we can do it.

( He holds up his sword again, showing it to Nari, )

It won't be too strong because you can count on me.

["I think we can do it". That's... a little reassuring. Nari chews on the inside of his lip.]

I just don't want you to get hurt because I did something stupid. Swords aren't my forte, what if I miss and-[Break the vessel form? Would that kill Urashima? He doesn't want to think about it...]

Though I guess those blossoms you produce could help... we could strike without getting too close?

( Miss and...? Urashima waits for Nari to finish but he doesn't. Oh, he can figure out what Nari means easily enough, though. What if he gets hurt? That seems silly to him and he can only give Nari the brightest smile, )

Heh heh, don't worry! I'm really strong because you take care of me really well!

( That's it. It's that easy. )

Let me fight, okay? And if it gets dangerous, call me and we'll finish it together.

[Your god is a little overprotective. If you saw what he sees whenever a new shinki is employed, when you too would fear.]

You know you can't defeat it without me.

[They have to fight together. Fears be damned, Nari can't let Urashima do this alone.]

Yeah...

( He hadn't forgotten! But if he can help Nari avoid it, he wants to help as much as he can. )

I just want to protect you as much as I can.

[This is a serious situation, but Urashima is going to get a headpat for that.]

You're a good kid, but you'll find I'm a lot tougher than I pretend. And even if it hits me, not like I'll feel it.

[Not something you want to tell your shinki...............

Anyways. The worrying from his shinki is enough to bolster Nari a bit.]

Is it close? We should get rid of it fast.

( Ah... He won't complain. There's always time for praise and affection as far as he's concerned. He's never really seen Nari fight but if Nari says he'll be fine then he'll be fine (and if he isn't, Urashima will make sure he is).

Urashima nods, pointing straight ahead, )

Right there, I think! ( In the alley because of course it's in the alley between the bars, ) I'm just the right size.

( A small short sword able to fight in closed areas. )

[No one but Sora has ever seen Nari fight, but that was a while ago, and the redhead doesn't remember whereas his former god is long gone.

Alley. Of course it's an alley.]

This makes me wish I had a gun... The mouth of an alley is a good place for camping out. But you're right. Your size works in this place... so do you want to lure it out? I can't make light happen without setting something on fire- Wait! [Checking his phone, and.... tada! Flashlight function!] Should be bright enough.

( He nods, )

I'm going to get closer. ( He doesn't sound the slightest bit afraid but he doesn't speak casually either. Look, he understands this is serious and as confident as he is, he knows he needs to be careful, ) We should go to it!

( they should go into the alley right after it! )

It won't have anywhere to run.

[Urashima's confidence is just a little of the push that Nari needs. It's difficult, but he forces himself to start walking into the alley.]

Let's hope it can't fly then. I'd have to zap it out of the sky.

[Except that might catch his shinki, too. Lightning was a fickle mistress.

BUT HEY HE'S IN THE ALLEY NOW THAT'S AN IMPROVEMENT!]
