[ Rin could see how reaping someone's souls can be disheartening. He doesn't think he'll be able to do Emziel's job for that very reason. Life is a precious thing, and doesn't want anyone to lose it. Maybe it's even more significant that he's dead now, and doesn't quite remember the life he led.]

You're a stronger person than you look. [ Emziel is small, but this guy has a good heart and seems very mature.]

You've got a really tough job, but be proud that someone like you can handle it with care. I don't think I can handle something with that much responsibility. I think I'd probably screw it up trying to go against the rules.

You... [Emizel brightens.] Really think I'm strong?

[Rin may not really know how much those words mean to him. It's pretty uncommon to hear someone say that about him. Although, it does become a little disappointing when he realizes Rin was not talking about offensive strength so much. B-but hey it was still better than nothing!]

Being Death is not something that's easy. So I'm sure there's a lot that can't do it.

...But I also know some that could do it better.

[ Well Rin hasn't seen Emi in a fight, so he can't speak about his physical strength yet. Though if the death god has a strong will surely that will translate in his fighting prowess too.

He shrugs at the notion that someone could do his job better.]

That doesn't matter. There's always going to be someone who could do it better. What's important is what you can do. You're the one in this position, so you should concentrate on putting your best foot forward. That should be enough.

For criminals? [Rin raises an eyebrow at her words. It seems like most people feel the same distrust towards the higher ups, and they must have a valid reason for it. Rin's still in the dark about what's been happening behind the scenes, but he's trying to be as receptive as he can.

He perks up at the mention of her name. Kuroyukihime is certainly a mouthful.]

That's an impressive name. So are you really a princess as your name says?

[Simple thoughts from a simpleton.]

[ A pause, adjusting her position to turn her attention to him directly. Her legs are crossed and she's resting her hands on her lap again. Get ready for your mind to be blown. ]

But I happen to be a king.

[ If King = glorified guild leader for a virtual reality pvp mmorpg then sure she's a king. Just... don't tell her that. ]

[ Rin seems slightly disappointed that Kuroyukihime isn't really a princess. There does seem to be something regal about her. Maybe it's her excellent posture compared to his slouchy one.

Though when she reveals that she's a king, Rin looks confused. Aren't kings usually dudes? She's very female from what Rin could see. So his mind is definitely blown as he challenges her statement in his head.

He narrows his blue eyes,and speaks quite bluntly.] But you're a girl. How can you be a king? Don't you mean Queen?

To be perfectly honest... I'm not sure.

[ She rests her head on her hand this time, staring off into the crowd. ]

Have you had any dreams since you arrived here, Rin-kun?

[ Don't worry, this ties in to what she knows about this whole king business down the line. She just needs a better way to articulate, somehow. ]

Dreams?

[Rin has to think about it. Even in his former life, he didn't dream very often. And if he did, once he wakes up he didn't really remember it. As for since he's been here,it's about the same. He doesn't remember them if he's had them.

He shrugs, looking uncertain.]

Dunno. I don't think I have.

There are certain dreams shinki can have here... they have something to do with our lives before we were shinki.

[ She's a little contemplative herself, staring ahead with a small furrow of her brow. ]

I know we're told not to think about it but perhaps heaven has ways of letting the memories safely trickle into our subconscious. There was a dream I had where I was referred to as the black king.

[ And she had been clad in black armor, standing with others wearing different colored armor... ]

I can only assume it was that sort of dream. Who am I to deny who I was?

[ Rin knows that they will eventually receive their memories, but he wasn't sure how would they go about remembering them. Now Hime makes it pretty clear that those memories are returned in the way of dreams, which is quite clever.

So, she knows this from a dream? Then in her world she must have been a King.]

Guess not. [ Rin smiles at that, but he does fidget a little.] If you're a king, you're a king! Now I feel a little bit nervous being around royalty.

Though, how much do you remember about your past life now? I always wonder about that.

Apart from that, nothing else I'm afraid.

[ She does offer him a smile back.

Nervous about being around royalty... definitely something she can understand. But what was being the black king but a title to her? It's not like she knew what kind of kingdom she ruled over or how much power she had. ]

You needn't worry yourself about how to act. Given the circumstances, I'm just another shinki... much like you are, Rin-kun. We're equals, no matter our origins.

Okay good, because I dunno if I can pretend to be proper.

[He's not the most tactful person, even if he's generally nice. Though he nods as Hime mentions that they are equals.]

You think so? I bet you're a really strong shinki. You seem to carry yourself with a lot of confidence and you're intelligent enough to know all these big words. I'm still tryna figure things out. The process is a bit slow, but I also think it's because I'm a bit of a slacker.

[ There's a chuckle there. Sorry, Rin... you really don't see like the kind who can fake elegance.

But she does shake his head. ]

Confidence comes with experience. I've been here for a while now... once you get the hang of things, I'm sure you could become quite the formidable shinki yourself.

Though slacking off certainly isn't going to do any good. You'll have to put in the effort if you want the power.

Yeah? I guess I will just have to go with the flow of things.

[Although being so easy going kind of leads to him slacking off. He knows he should put in more effort, but he's not entirely sure how. Rin head lowers a little, feeling as if he's being lectured. Though Hime's words ring true.]

Yeah...I should probably hit up those training camps they have every month. It's too bad there isn't something like that everyday. Sometimes it's hard to find something to pass the time.

[Hence the slacking. Rin requires an activity to hold his attention, and that's not always available.]

[ Rin considers, but somehow he's a little unsatisfied with that.]

But that's no good! There has to be something you like, and I'm gonna help you find out what it is!

[The genuine offer of kindness takes him aback for a second. It actually shuts him up and he looks completely out of his element until his brain catches up and he manages to cover it over with a scoffing noise, turning his face away to hide his expression.]

Whatever.

C'mon! [Rin interprets the scoffing noise as disbelief rather than a complete dismissal. It only encourages the shinki even more.]

What you don't believe me? I'm sure I can find at least one thing you like! I think, I'm a persistent type, so don't rule me out.

[Plus it sounds fun to help someone learn more about themselves. Maybe Rin will learn something new about himself as well.]

Maybe,we can start with foods you might like, yeah? We can try a lot of different things. Assortments of fruits and vegetables. International cuisines. A variety of spices. Food always makes me feel a lot happier.

[It's not like he has memories to base anything on, but he knows there are things that carry over from past lives. Preferences, interests, biases...things like that. But when it comes to food, he feels nothing except the need to make sure he has it.]

[He's not smiling because he refuses to and he'll never admit this guy is growing on him, but the fact that he's actually agreeing to something is enough to show it.]

[It's okay, Kagaho. Rin has no problem doing all the smiling. The other's reply isn't an outright no, so Rin figures he's not against the idea. He doesn't know much about the other, but the shinki is definitely looking forward to learning more.]

[ Rin definitely wants to maintain contact, so he wants to make sure he learns this name.]
