[ It had been a few days and Elfnein couldn’t find where a book on October holidays went. The book wasn’t checked out or on a cart to be re-shelfed, and if anyone took it out of the temple without going through the proper check out would end up with a nasty curse. Elfnein didn’t really like the fact it did that but the heavens work in ways that make the world work somehow. ]

Eliot, have you seen anyone suffering from a curse over the last day or two?

[Meanwhile, Eliot has been making a point to memorize as many books in the temple as possible. Might as well put his memory to use, after all. He sets down his latest target, not even needing to double check his page number before closing the book, and gives Elfnein a curious look.]

I can't say I know what that would look like. Is something the matter, Elfnein?

There's a book that's missing and it's not on the list of checked out items, or on a cart.

[ Can't have a missing book, what if someone else needs it. ]

[That is a drastic problem, he agrees. Eliot stands and looks around, just to confirm nothing is out of place.]

I don't see any books... Wait. What is the relation between a missing book and cursed things?

There's a curse on books that aren't checked out properly and taken out of the temple

[ To be fair Elfnein didn't put that in place it was just there when she got the temple. ]

[anamnestik]

... Well, that could be motivating.

[And frightening. At least he now understands how serious the 'lost book' thing is.]

Alright... Unfortunately, I've been reading most of the day. Let me think...?

[As in, give him a moment to try to remember. Eliot's pristine memory could be a substitute for surveillance cameras, if he paid better attention.]

I didn't want a curse on it but it was there when I arrived at this temple.

[ Really need to install some cameras in this place. ]

They couldn't have gone very far without noticing.

[ Since the curse will only get stronger if they are further away. It shouldn't be hard to find the person.. hopefully. ]

[Eliot puts his own reading material down at his desk and stands quickly.]

Will you need my, uh, other form for this?

I think we should be ok without it for this? I don't want to scare this person anymore then they already are.

[anamnestik]

The sooner we find that book, the better.

[ Alright, they have everything they need so it's time to head out. ]

First place we can search is the major pathways that can lead to the temple.

[Eliot is quiet a moment, before regretfully admitting,]

I still don't know my way around. I've spent too much time reading...
