Who: Tsuzuki Asato & Viktor Nikiforov
When: October 11, morning
Where: A bakery in Shibuya
What: Probably a friend date. A friend date with flowers. Tsuzuki's got to improve at picking up on romantic cues.
Warnings: Fluffy awkwardness, possibly some discussion of illness or death from the event
It was a foggy, gray morning, just chilly enough to make the damp set right into Tsuzuki's bones. He leaned back against the edge of the flowerbed by Hachiko's statue -- flowers starting to look as soggy and chilled as the rest of the world this morning -- and contemplated the fact that he should've worn something long-sleeved.
He liked this shirt, though. It was purple and gold, with riotous flowers printed across it. It was cheerful. It was also meant for summer.
Maybe he should just spring for a coat, he thought. A trench coat, something with some flair to it... and that was as far as he got before his nervous thoughts about clothes and coats were interrupted by the sight of a familiar head of silver-blond hair among the hurrying office workers.
"Hey!" he called, waving. "Viktor! Over here!"

And while he did like Tsuzuki's shirt a lot, he had to wonder if he was cold. Viktor himself really wasn't at all. Oh, it was chilly, but Russia had been so very much worse! He's worn one of the scarves he'd knitted for style rather than warmth.
He stepped a little more quickly toward the statue when he heard the call, trying not to make the bouquet too obvious. It was a simple arrangement, just white carnations, but he'd felt the need to bring something anyway!
"Good morning!"
The greeting was given with a huge, bright grin, although it got a bit more dim when two of the butterflies that had accompanied him from the temple grew curious about Tsuzuki's shirt and left their place on his coat to go investigate the flowers on his shirt.
"Ah, I'm sorry! They think you have food, I'm afraid. I just fed them less than an hour ago, but they don't seem to care about scheduling."

He punctuated the compliment with a wink, and gently waved a hand at one of the butterflies. "Hey, you should be hanging out with him. I don't have real flowers."
Viktor, on the other hand... seemed to have come with a bouquet of carnations. Tsuzuki blinked, briefly uncertain. It was probably for the butterflies, though, right?
(Did butterflies like carnations? That, he had no idea about. Flowers he knew; insects were a mystery.)
and then actual years later i get back to this, sorry
"You're such a charmer. And you should probably know that the butterflies only like to land on adorable people!"
He's great at compliments, yep.
"I hope they'll let them come into the coffee shop though, they'd be sad staying outside. Silly things should know that it's where they belong, but once they like a person they tend to follow them everywhere."
Hence their presence!
s'fine!!
So it was for him, after all, and here he was having not brought anything for Viktor at all.
"Hey," he offered, "all we have to do is not say anything and I bet they won't even notice the butterflies. They'll be fine inside!"
With a flourish, still trying to convince the heat in his cheeks to subside, he offered Viktor a hand and gestured down the street.
"The shop's this way. If we hurry, I bet they'll still have some egg tarts left over."

Viktor definitely noticed the blush, and it made him want to hug Tsuzuki since he was so cute. But that would be really forward, and he was nothing if not a gentleman (or so he liked to tell himself)! But he did take the offered hand happily.
"I hope they won't notice, although some of them are a little bright. Most people tend to like butterflies, though, so they should be all right either way!" Unless they happened to fly into someone's latte due to the sugar, which would just be tragic for everyone involved.
And had Viktor known Tsuzuki's thoughts on the flowers he'd have been quick to assure him that he didn't need any sort of reciprocation, he'd just brought them because they looked nice and he really liked giving flowers to people. It seemed to cheer them up, and he loved seeing people happy!

Which butterflies would have a lot of trouble doing. Flying into someone's drink might get them noticed, but they seemed pretty smart, for butterflies.
He kept hold of Viktor's hand--which wasn't helping him conquer the blush--and tucked the flowers under his other arm, looking ahead.
"So -- how've you been? What's Emizel up to these days?"
