Gods and shinki arriving at heaven's meeting hall are, should they allow it, guided to the Meeting Hall, where a reception area and a traditionally styled dojo and training ground have been made available for the day. The gods and shinki are free to take their time during this day to learn about the details of their new life from Amaterasu's shinki or from the many veteran new god and shinki volunteers.




God Training

Newly arrived gods are escorted into a traditional reception room within the Meeting Hall for an informational meeting covering the basics of proper god behavior. A minor deity is giving the speech, and none of the white-robed shinki enter. They are encouraged to discuss the information with each other and ask questions of more experienced gods, as well as instructed to guide their new shinki appropriately.

Shinki Training

Various shinki in the white-and-gold of Amaterasu's hosuehold are stationed around the dojo, passing out helpful informational pamphlets. They will be happy to instruct the newcomers in the use of the borderline as well as offering an explanation of what is expected of a shinki and the importance of teamwork with other shinki and with gods. Shinki are encouraged to work together to practice what they've learned and discuss their perspectives.

A training game has been set up through a section of the Meeting Hall gardens, with little cut-outs of ayakashi hidden in the landscaping, tucked into bushes or taped under bridges. Prize ribbons are being offered for every ten "ayakashi" a shinki (or team) discovers.

Physical Training

The dojo is stocked with a wide variety of practice weapons, traditional and modern, to offer some practice opportunity to gods who, for example, find themselves with a sword shinki but are at risk of cutting off their own toes. It's also useful for veteran new gods wishing to train with their current partner shinki. Several magically animated straw-stuffed training dummies, many of which have been carefully mended and patched with neat black stitching, are set up on the lawn with a white-robed shinki hovering nearby to watch over them. They make good training partners, although anyone who comes too close risks being targeted for a sparring match whether they wanted one or not.

The pond behind the dojo has had dozens wooden poles sunk in it, spaced a few feet apart, with a bunch of brightly colored ribbons tied around the pole in the very center. Some of the white-robed shinki are practicing scaling the poles and leaping from one to the next, until they get close enough that they can snatch a ribbon from the center pole, and several have fallen in and are being teased by their fellows.

Rest and Refreshments

Instead of snacks being served at the training session, this week, white-robed shinki with little flags are conducting groups of newcomers and volunteers down to the Tokyo Daijingu shrine and into a street festival currently being held in Tokyo. Traditional dance troupes are performing on street corners, and vendors have every kind of fall street foods, from barbecue to takoyaki, chocolate-dipped bananas and red-bean pancakes. New arrivals will get a white-and-gold envelope with spending money for the fair, although gods and shinki who have had some time to settle in will have to handle their own lunch expenses.

Closed to Chinatsu
[ After having scoped out his target for later, having never met Izumo's new boyfriend before, it seemed like a good time to actually put some of the things he's learned to the test. Which meant getting the nice shirt off, just in case something managed to happen. It definitely wasn't to show off his muscles, just as he'd never to a scan around the area to see if that weird game with the dots was set up again. Because while he enjoyed the game and liked the way he looked while shirtless with loose pants (just a little thinner than sweats,) he'd never admit it to someone.

Apparently in doing so, he wandered just close enough to end up having to dodge back and away as the shield goes up to keep the straw dummy from assaulting him with wooden swords. ]

Shit, they still haven't fixed-

[ Just as he manages to back up into someone else. With a soft 'oi,' he seemed ready to tell off or goad the person until he saw the hair and that forehead. ]

[Chinatsu lurched forward slightly, about to tell off the idiot that wasn't watching where they were going. At least, until she heard him.]

...Hah? Brows?

[What the hell was that about?]

Hey, you're that guy from the party.

Yeah, cuz of...

[ He starts to gesture, but watching the way her brows move, his just raises a little. He'll just pick the towel and shirt off the ground, having dropped it when bumping into Chinatsu. Maybe he'll use 'Red' for her second nickname. ]

Yeah, the name's Judar. You're the one that got tangled in your own stuff.

Right... Chinatsu. [Not Brows.]

.........Why are't you wearing your shirt?

[ But it's such a good nickname, and more appropriate than he initially realized when deciding on it. ]

The shirt I've got is pretty nice, so I didn't want to ruin it during training.

[ Why would he wear a shirt, while the weather's still okay? Look at him. ]

Then why would you wear that one here then--

[You know what, never mind. They had other problems.]

Yours acting up too? [She gestures towards the straw dummy.]

[ He has a perfectly good reason. One that's literally pointed out towards some of the white-robed shinki with flags that have been leading people to a street festival. See? He makes actual sense. ]

In the sense that I never wanted it to be mine in the first place. I just walked by it.

[redmare]

Might be attacking your for indecency.

[She's got her back to him, focusing on the out of control dummy in front of her. They seemed to be waiting for the two to make a move, but Chinatsu wasn't one for waiting. She attacks it head on, kicking it in the middle to shove it back.]

How's this indecent? I'd call it exceptional.

[ Because what this kind of person needed was to be self aware of his appearance. Getting his wand out from his braid, Judar yawns a bit before sending spears of ice through the one that had tried smacking him just before. ]

Did you seriously just say that?

[She wasn't sure whether to be disgusted or impressed by his overconfidence.

The random ice spears do grab her attention.]

Overkill much, don't you think?

[ Does it count as overconfidence when there's good cause for it?

He simply shrugs, resting his arms behind his head. Which just makes his hips look more pronounced, with the kind of pants he has and it being his overall frame. ]

How so? They're pretty small spells.

Small, huh...

[Well, maybe the guy wasn't all talk.]

Did you learn that here?

[She asks just before ducking to avoid an attack from a dummy.]

Yeah. So small it was one of the first things I figured out.

[ Aside from floating. Which is why he's out of range of the dummies.

... Ah, fine. Given that he's obviously the one with offensive capabilities aside from just being plain offensive, he sends another spear of ice through that dummy as well. ]

Not at this training thing, though. I figured it out on my own time with all this information I've got in my head.

[Chinatsu frowns when she sees the ice stab through it.]

I had that.

Yeah? With what?

[ Go on and enlighten him, Red. ]

[redmare]

Myself, obviously. I don't need to compensate.

[She huffs, looking around to fine she's out of training opponents.]

Tch.

[kuroi_taiyo]

Using the skills and abilities I've got isn't compensating.

[ Going off and putting the dummies out of commission a little longer than necessary, however, is definitely overdoing it. Someone's going to have to fix them, after all. ]

Now that they're gone, may as well try something else. I was going to see if they have that weird game with the dots on the sheet again.

[That was definitely a change from sparring.]

More that no one else was.

[ And what kind of fun is there supposed to be in playing a game all by yourself? He did a few test spins, sure, but it wasn't very fun or satisfying without having someone else struggle. ]

[That almost sounded a little sad. Still, simply playing sounded boring.]

[ Oh, that's cute. Was she offering to come play with him? ]

I don't have anything to give. Best I can do is turn the game into a wager and up the stakes to decide the winner.

[Wasn't that what he was asking for? A playmate?

The wager does pique her interest.]

[ All he said was that there was no one playing the game last time. ]

Whatever the other wants? Sex, a fighting partner, to put a hit out on someone. Something like that. Nothing really long term, but still worth something.

[Chinatsu almost lost balance. Sputtering in response]

W-what the hell kind of options are those?!

[Two of them sounded a little too extreme for just a game of twister.]

[ Don't lose balance in this kind of game, Chinatsu. Not when those were the options he gave. ]
