Summary: Training and informational sessions for newly arrived gods and shinki



Gods and shinki arriving at heaven's meeting hall are, should they allow it, guided to the Meeting Hall, where a traditionally styled dojo and training ground have been made available for the day. The gods and shinki are free to take their time during this day to learn about the details of their new life from Amaterasu's shinki or from the many veteran new god and shinki volunteers.




God Training

Newly arrived gods are escorted into what looks like an old, large warehouse behind the Meeting Hall for an informational meeting covering the basics of proper god behavior. Several chairs have been moved in, but they're squeezed together between packed shelves and boxes of old ritual clothing, scrolls and rusty or chipped household goods. A minor deity is giving the speech, and none of the white-robed shinki enter. They are encouraged to discuss the information with each other and ask questions of more experienced gods, as well as instructed to guide their new shinki appropriately.

Shinki Training

Various shinki in the white-and-gold of Amaterasu's hosuehold are stationed around the dojo, passing out helpful informational pamphlets. They will be happy to instruct the newcomers in the use of the borderline as well as offering an explanation of what is expected of a shinki and the importance of teamwork with other shinki and with gods. Shinki are encouraged to work together to practice what they've learned and discuss their perspectives.

Back copies of the "From Ama" magazine, including puff pieces about new or rising gods or successful shinki, advice columns for resolving problems between gods and shinki, temple photographs and other articles of interest to gods and shinki, have been brought out in boxes and piled up next to a table holding a few remaining copies of the shinki questionnaire for any new shinki who want to keep one around until they can answer the included questions.

Physical Training

The dojo is stocked with a wide variety of practice weapons, traditional and modern, to offer some practice opportunity to gods who, for example, find themselves with a sword shinki but are at risk of cutting off their own toes. It's also useful for veteran new gods wishing to train with their current partner shinki. Several magically animated straw-stuffed training dummies, many of which have been carefully mended and patched with neat black stitching, are set up on the lawn with a white-robed shinki hovering nearby to watch over them. They make good training partners, although anyone who comes too close risks being targeted for a sparring match whether they wanted one or not.

The white-robed shinki are still busy cleaning and preparing the Meeting Hall for the big annual meeting of the gods. They'll recruit anyone who looks as though they're not too busy in order to help scrub floors, weed, sweep paths and walkways, and shoo away any unwelcome little spirits that are hiding away in dark corners of the hall. Heavy lifting is good exercise... right?

Rest and Refreshments

There are casks of fresh, cold water near the dojo to make sure no one gets dehydrated, but for those who've finished working, hot tea and enough seasonal treats are available to make it look as though the Heavens bought out an entire sweet shop. They're being distributed by a few shinki in indigo-blue and plain brown robes with the sleeves tied back, who aren't above teasing the newcomers a bit.

Young shinki are playing in the nicely manicured garden, trying to catch crayfish at the lake edge, dashing around playing tag and hide-and-seek. Just be careful you don't get caught in the middle of a game of "Kagome"! If you do, you'll really be stuck until you guess someone's name.

[Adrien had seen Kaden wandering around - he'd done the same thing when he was new. Getting lost in trying to find his way, which was both a good and bad thing. But he remembered Kairi helping him so even if this new shinki is busily working - Adrien is bounding over with a warm welcoming smile. Plagg is tucked away in the pocket of his over shirt, small paws holding a wedge of cheese that he's happily gnawing on.]

You're a new arrival, right? Do you need some help? I can tell you a little bit about life here if you wanted?

[There's a laugh from off to the side.]

You're going to make the Shinki that have to fix these things purrtty mad at you.

[And when he turns he's going to see Chat standing there, belt-tail twitching to and fro leather ears perked forward as he rests his baton across his shoulders.]

They're just training tools - dummies. They can't hear you or anything like that. They're magic but they're not human or anything remotely like it. I mean sure they pack a punch but - that's a little overkill.

[But the cat-boy's head is tilted and he's watching him with bright cat-like green eyes.]

You've got some kind of innate magic, don't you?

[Forrest isn't much for the usual physical or combat training, but one thing he is very good at is cleaning. Using Lakshmi's power, he doesn't even have to get down on his hands and knees to scrub the floor - all it takes is a simple wave of the hand and all the dust and dirt is gone. He's having such fun with it that he ends up practically dancing down the hallway, until he rounds a corner and gets a face full of oddly familiar fluff.]

O-oh, I'm so sorry...!

I can help you set it up later then. [She smiles before locking her phone and returning it to her pocket.

She takes a step back, the words instantly coming up in her mind.]

[Forrest is familiar enough with gardening from keeping things clean around his own temple, so once Ryoma shows up, he's already hard at work. And that red armor and huge mane of hair is hard to mistake for anyone else. By this time, Forrest has gotten used to restraining himself from calling familiar people by name just in case they happen to be a shinki, so he just glances over and gives a friendly smile.]

[Adrien had been waiting patiently off to the side after all Marinette came here hoping that they might provide more information than they had the first time. Adrien while not a god he would wait near by for her to get out and then they would go about their day.

Feeling someone bump him - not enough to knock him over because well he's always prepared for this kind of thing. Fortuna might be Marinette's goddess title but that's likely because there is no goddess of clumsy. At best Adrien staggers slightly before catching himself.]

No, it's okay - No harm done. I should have gotten a bit closer to the wall. Let me help.

[The blond extends his hand to Felix, smiling. Though now he's wondering at that there someone so young here. He's only seen one or two people younger than him here - not that he's met them.]

You didn't hurt yourself, right?

[While he helps himself to the snacks, Roxas may catch sight of a teenage girl staring at him rather intently from just across the clearing. Does she think his cloak is cool? Is she thinking about what his face might look like? Who knows, but she seems pretty fixated.]

[ There's a reason why it's not a proper apology. ]

I guess I should say little kid, then.

True, but it would've taken quite a while to get it off of my back if I defended it in this form. I'm not much of a fighter until I transform.

[ Sure he can kinda punch and kick but it doesn't hole much force. Why practice that when you can go big? ]

Physical Training

[Adrien might be pausing in his own training seeing a little girl - oh gosh she's so tiny! - with a scarf in the training area of all places. This seems familiar. So he's padding over with a little smile.]

Is your Shinki's vessel a scarf, too? That's the form I take. Do you need help training? I could help if you need someone to train against.

[He could give her something a bit easier than one of those maniac dummies to train against. And give her a few pointers, for her and her shinki, too. He murmuring a soft, "Plagg, Claws Out," and Chat is standing where Adrien had been - though notably the claws on his costume are gone - retracted so he doesn't run the risk of accidentally hurting this child or her shinki. He's tugging his baton from its holster at his back and smiling.]

III Rest Stop

[Adrien has some water in hand and something to eat in his other Plagg is perched next to him with his own snack. Adrien has been politely quiet to himself but the longer he sees Roxas from the corner of his eye still in that heavy leather..]

Aren't you hot at all in that?

[Granted, Adrien's costume as Chat is leather and it does get hot sometimes in the heat of a battle or summer. But then again his isn't actual leather. Not like Roxas's seems to be - heavy, bulky. Adrien's isn't like that - it's magic and breathable.]

Hmm, I would have to say mostly meat, and fish. If they're spiced or with berries and fruit are quite good. I suppose...simple foods.

[ Just as long as it's not coated in sugar like that stuff he tried. ]

Would that be something easy to find here? I don't want to intrude.

[Totally oblivious to how any of this is inappropriate to tell a small child, he continues to look around for Ken.]

If not, there's nothing to worry about. Different worlds, different people. All that sort of thing, you know?

[ He gives him a smile. It was a pity he didn't remember anything but he also didn't want to cause trouble for the fox. ]

[He's blinking then laughing.]

Well you're here now either as a God or a Shinki. You have to grant prayers and help fight Ayakashi but no. Not to the snacks. These are here kind of like a treat - welcome, sorry we took your from home and you lost memories or whatever. Go train then have something to get your energy back up.

[ To think whatever was going on, they involved children as young as Nanako. If gods all around different worlds were like this, he really didn't think he would like them anymore.

He gives her another smile, his ears perked. ]

Then you must be one of the smartest ones here regarding the place.

[In all honesty, Garry hadn't been coming through the halls in pursuit of a strange darkness pervading the area. Instead, it's been something that has been entirely accidental- truly the story of his life.]

[After all, he'd only wanted to help the shinki working around, knowing how hard a job they have. That's it. Yet as he comes around a corner, a bucket in one hand and some cleaning supplies in the other, he jolts back with a yelp.]

[SIR WHERE ARE YOUR LIMBS]

[Good news, Add- Garry is one of those who doesn't hate you. So it's a good idea to grab him, dragging him out of his uneasy thoughts, and he blinks at the other.]

Ah- a hood? No, I don't think so. [And before Add can continue on his quest.] Are you alright?

[Niles is right there, standing beside her and watching her carefully. Make good decisions, Nanako.

Niles doesn't, so someone should.]

Shinki Training

[Adrien is peering up at Tadashi and shaking his head.]

Nope.

[He's laughing softly before flashing a smile.]

Some people here don't have their gods yet so they can't fill out the whole thing. I think you're supposed to keep it until you've got a god or goddess and have been with them a while.

[He shrugs a little.] If anything they might send another bird or something to pick it up or you can hand it in next time they have a training day.

Shinki Training

[Kagaho has staked out a spot for himself as far away from everyone else as possible to practice borderlines. It doesn't seem to be going well and you can practically feel the frustration emanating off him in waves.]

LINE

[Whether you know much about borderlines or not, it's a pretty safe bet that they're not supposed to be on fire.

Actually, this is less of a borderline and more a line of flames scorching the dojo floor.]

Dammit!

[Things don't seem to be going well.]

Rest and Refreshments

[Kagaho has apparently never met an edgelord cliché he isn't willing to embrace wholeheartedly. Now he's seated himself on a tree limb near the edge of the lake. He has a plate of sweets he gathered from the refreshment table and now he's watching the children hunt for crayfish.

He's pretending like he's just up there to get away from everyone else and eat, but you can see his eyes track every movement of the little shinki.

He almost looks sad.]

[He's standing there, tilting his head. Fortunately, he doesn't have an opinion on Add, and he doesn't have a reason not to try and help him out.

Except that he generally doesn't want to.]

[Did he point out the weed? Should he? He's not sure if he should bother or not here. Instead, he looked the man up and down, with the wild mane of hair, and let out a chuckle.]

You certainly look like you've had a rough time.
