Summary: Training and informational sessions for newly arrived gods and shinki



Gods and shinki arriving at heaven's meeting hall are, should they allow it, guided to the Meeting Hall, where a traditionally styled dojo and training ground have been made available for the day. The gods and shinki are free to take their time during this day to learn about the details of their new life from Amaterasu's shinki or from the many veteran new god and shinki volunteers.




God Training

Newly arrived gods are escorted into what looks like an old, large warehouse behind the Meeting Hall for an informational meeting covering the basics of proper god behavior. Several chairs have been moved in, but they're squeezed together between packed shelves and boxes of old ritual clothing, scrolls and rusty or chipped household goods. A minor deity is giving the speech, and none of the white-robed shinki enter. They are encouraged to discuss the information with each other and ask questions of more experienced gods, as well as instructed to guide their new shinki appropriately.

Shinki Training

Various shinki in the white-and-gold of Amaterasu's hosuehold are stationed around the dojo, passing out helpful informational pamphlets. They will be happy to instruct the newcomers in the use of the borderline as well as offering an explanation of what is expected of a shinki and the importance of teamwork with other shinki and with gods. Shinki are encouraged to work together to practice what they've learned and discuss their perspectives.

Back copies of the "From Ama" magazine, including puff pieces about new or rising gods or successful shinki, advice columns for resolving problems between gods and shinki, temple photographs and other articles of interest to gods and shinki, have been brought out in boxes and piled up next to a table holding a few remaining copies of the shinki questionnaire for any new shinki who want to keep one around until they can answer the included questions.

Physical Training

The dojo is stocked with a wide variety of practice weapons, traditional and modern, to offer some practice opportunity to gods who, for example, find themselves with a sword shinki but are at risk of cutting off their own toes. It's also useful for veteran new gods wishing to train with their current partner shinki. Several magically animated straw-stuffed training dummies, many of which have been carefully mended and patched with neat black stitching, are set up on the lawn with a white-robed shinki hovering nearby to watch over them. They make good training partners, although anyone who comes too close risks being targeted for a sparring match whether they wanted one or not.

The white-robed shinki are still busy cleaning and preparing the Meeting Hall for the big annual meeting of the gods. They'll recruit anyone who looks as though they're not too busy in order to help scrub floors, weed, sweep paths and walkways, and shoo away any unwelcome little spirits that are hiding away in dark corners of the hall. Heavy lifting is good exercise... right?

Rest and Refreshments

There are casks of fresh, cold water near the dojo to make sure no one gets dehydrated, but for those who've finished working, hot tea and enough seasonal treats are available to make it look as though the Heavens bought out an entire sweet shop. They're being distributed by a few shinki in indigo-blue and plain brown robes with the sleeves tied back, who aren't above teasing the newcomers a bit.

Young shinki are playing in the nicely manicured garden, trying to catch crayfish at the lake edge, dashing around playing tag and hide-and-seek. Just be careful you don't get caught in the middle of a game of "Kagome"! If you do, you'll really be stuck until you guess someone's name.

Physical Training

[ It's been a few weeks since Nanako's poked her head out of her temple and made an attempt to be social. The loss of her brother and Homura had hit her hard, enough that the little girl had almost entirely vanished from her typical haunts, despite her wish not to worry her friends too much. That wish still persists, which is why she'd ventured out today, but her manner is still on the unusually shy and quiet side, as if suddenly finding herself here in the Heavens alone has shaken some of the easy cheerfulness she'd had since arriving so many months ago.

But her expression is determined too as she slips into the Training Dojo and looks around. It's not often she's in here - she usually comes to Training Day to practice her archery, but today she has something different in mind, even if she looks a little uncertain about how to proceed. And she might also get distracted from it if she spots a familiar face nearby and chooses to approach them, instead. Besides, she can't do much here until her shinki joins her.

Although once he does... Nanako can be found off to the side of the dojo, an unusual scarf around her neck as she works with Suou to try and figure out how to become a master.... scarf wielder? Hush, that's totally gonna be a thing. ]

[ Once her training session with Suou is finished, Nanako can be found out by the refreshment tables, gripping a cup of fresh water and eyeing the tables of sweets as if she doesn't know where to start.

....Someone might want to intervene here. That's a lot of sugar right there. ]

[ Intervene? More like enable. Eric's also looking over the sweets table. There were so many choices...but when he spots Nanako he goes over to him. She also seemed to be thinking the same thing. If that was the case. ]

If...we get two different boxes each, we can try four different sweets.

[ And that way it doesn't look so suspicious that they're eating a whole bunch of candy. ]

[ She sees him coming, her expression brightening in happiness to see him. His offer has her giggling and glancing around covertly as if she's instinctively expecting an Adult to arrive and scold them disapprovingly for even considering such a thing. ]

Would that be okay?

[ He gives her a small smile in return as she giggles.

He gives a nod, like he knows what he's talking about.]

Anymore and we might get caught. And if we're still good to go, we can grab a second round later.

[ Well, keep on staring, kid. He's just going to reach over you and get some of the orange type sweets, as they seem to be the fruit in season and great to add on the table. It's a good theme to go with. ]

If all you do is watch, chibi, it's gonna disappear before you get any.

[ Her mouth drops open when a hand reaches over her head and pluck the sweets she'd been eyeing. Tipping her head back, she narrows her gaze at the person behind (above?) her, peeking at him upside-down. ]

Are you gonna eat all of it?

[ Keep tilting your head back and you're going to bump into that braid of his. ]

I might. Even if I don't, other people will come and get it. Action is what gets you stuff. Barely anything will be spared for those that just watch and wait, or there won't be anything that you want.

[Intervene? It's not like this kid is his responsibility. Yamanbagiri notice her staring at the table full of sweets. And that she's not going to get them.

After he picks up one sweet, he glances back at her again.]

... Which one do you want?

[Maybe... she can't reach a particular sweet?]

[ Ahhh, it's someone she hasn't met yet. Which has her looking a little shy at being spoken to, but she peeks up at him, fingers twisting a little uncertainly before her as she offers him a little smile. ]

Umm... I don't know? There's so many...

[Ah, indecision. He glance between her and the table of sweets, thinking for a moment.]

You could try one of everything? Or do you have a favourite flavour in general?

[ A sigh of a young girl wrapped in a weird scarf and apparently trying to... weaponize it? What's going on here, what's going on? Sorry, not sorry, but he does approach her to inquire ]

Heey-- you need help with that?

[ That sounds better than Excuse me but... what are you doing? ]

[ Nanako pauses as she turns at the sound of the voice, glancing up at the man.

...Oddly enough, her scarf keeps moving, hovering around her like it (he, really) has a mind of its own.

But Nanako offers Caster a warm smile all the same. ]

Ummm..... Maybe, but I don't know how anyone else can help. I think we just need to practice more.

[ "We?" Then it clicks. The scarf must be a shinki-- how do you kill ayakashi with a scarf, by strangling them to death? ]

Good luck then, practicing together is the best way to figure stuff out.

[ She'd been coming to say hello, but she stops in surprise at his words of greeting as she blinks up at him with wide eyes. ]

[Adrien might be pausing in his own training seeing a little girl - oh gosh she's so tiny! - with a scarf in the training area of all places. This seems familiar. So he's padding over with a little smile.]

Is your Shinki's vessel a scarf, too? That's the form I take. Do you need help training? I could help if you need someone to train against.

[He could give her something a bit easier than one of those maniac dummies to train against. And give her a few pointers, for her and her shinki, too. He murmuring a soft, "Plagg, Claws Out," and Chat is standing where Adrien had been - though notably the claws on his costume are gone - retracted so he doesn't run the risk of accidentally hurting this child or her shinki. He's tugging his baton from its holster at his back and smiling.]

[ The offer of training against someone else who knew something about being a scarf had been impressive enough and, though shy, Nanako's expression had lit up at the opportunity.

And then he went and changed appearances and her eyes go wide, mouth dropping open as she stares at him in awe. ]

And I'm not the only one either. I have a partner here. If you like I can arrange for you to meet her. She's very pretty and very brave. If you think I'm neat, she's really something.

[It's still strange to him being in this form but there's also a sense of calm to it. He can hear Nanako's heart beat close by and he doesn't have to worry about losing control of himself. There's usually something that bristles up inside him whenever there's a need to fight. A more predatory fighting instinct he doesn't understand at all but in his vessel form that feeling fades.

But admittedly, being a scarf is still a strange experience.]

'We can take a break if you whenever want, Nanako. There's no need to rush anything'

[ While she might be a little out of breath, Nanako is still in high spirits and gives a quiet laugh at Suou's voice in her thoughts. Fingers brush lightly against the scarf bobbing lightly around her as she smiles down at him. ]

I think I'm okay. It's a little tricky, though, huh? Are you okay?

[Nanako's absences had been noticed, and despite worrying--Trunks hadn't wanted to push. He wanted to give her time, while also if she needed friends--he'd be there. But she had several closer friends than him, and he didn't want to intrude.

Which means she's noticed when she arrives in the dojo, quiet and clearly a bit lost but determined. A friendly wave given in passing, and if she wanted, Trunks would come say hi or help in anyway. But letting her make that choice, as this was not an environment designed for socializing.

Later though, when things are winding down--and he spots her with water but eyeing the sweets, he'll make it a point to approach. Being sure to make noise, and keeping his voice soft.]

They put out a lot for us all, didn't they, Nanako?

[ It's not a hard choice to make, because Nanako is always happy to see her friends, especially since it's been a while since she's gotten to see some of them and when he waves, she immediately makes a bee-line for him. And since he's such a good fighter, she does stop and pick his brain for a bit on how to maybe use Suou's vessel form in a fight, taking any pointers he has to offer her.

Afterwards, when she and Suou have gotten some practice in, she makes her way to the Refreshments area, looking a little overwhelmed by all the options. But she does turn to glance up at him with a warm smile when he comes over. ]
