Summary: Training and informational sessions for newly arrived gods and shinki

Gods and shinki arriving at heaven's meeting hall are, should they allow it, guided to the Meeting Hall, where a traditionally styled dojo and training ground have been made available for the day. The gods and shinki are free to take their time during this day to learn about the details of their new life from Amaterasu's shinki or from the many veteran new god and shinki volunteers.

God Training
- Newly arrived gods are escorted into what looks like an old, large warehouse behind the Meeting Hall for an informational meeting covering the basics of proper god behavior. Several chairs have been moved in, but they're squeezed together between packed shelves and boxes of old ritual clothing, scrolls and rusty or chipped household goods. A minor deity is giving the speech, and none of the white-robed shinki enter. They are encouraged to discuss the information with each other and ask questions of more experienced gods, as well as instructed to guide their new shinki appropriately.
Shinki Training
- Various shinki in the white-and-gold of Amaterasu's hosuehold are stationed around the dojo, passing out helpful informational pamphlets. They will be happy to instruct the newcomers in the use of the borderline as well as offering an explanation of what is expected of a shinki and the importance of teamwork with other shinki and with gods. Shinki are encouraged to work together to practice what they've learned and discuss their perspectives.
Back copies of the "From Ama" magazine, including puff pieces about new or rising gods or successful shinki, advice columns for resolving problems between gods and shinki, temple photographs and other articles of interest to gods and shinki, have been brought out in boxes and piled up next to a table holding a few remaining copies of the shinki questionnaire for any new shinki who want to keep one around until they can answer the included questions.
- What is your name?
What is your god's name?
How do you see your duties as a shinki?
What is your favorite part of life with your god?
What is your least favorite part of life with your god?
What advice would you like to give your god?
Do you wish to be assigned to a different god? []Y []N
Physical Training
- The dojo is stocked with a wide variety of practice weapons, traditional and modern, to offer some practice opportunity to gods who, for example, find themselves with a sword shinki but are at risk of cutting off their own toes. It's also useful for veteran new gods wishing to train with their current partner shinki. Several magically animated straw-stuffed training dummies, many of which have been carefully mended and patched with neat black stitching, are set up on the lawn with a white-robed shinki hovering nearby to watch over them. They make good training partners, although anyone who comes too close risks being targeted for a sparring match whether they wanted one or not.
The white-robed shinki are still busy cleaning and preparing the Meeting Hall for the big annual meeting of the gods. They'll recruit anyone who looks as though they're not too busy in order to help scrub floors, weed, sweep paths and walkways, and shoo away any unwelcome little spirits that are hiding away in dark corners of the hall. Heavy lifting is good exercise... right?
Rest and Refreshments
- There are casks of fresh, cold water near the dojo to make sure no one gets dehydrated, but for those who've finished working, hot tea and enough seasonal treats are available to make it look as though the Heavens bought out an entire sweet shop. They're being distributed by a few shinki in indigo-blue and plain brown robes with the sleeves tied back, who aren't above teasing the newcomers a bit.
Young shinki are playing in the nicely manicured garden, trying to catch crayfish at the lake edge, dashing around playing tag and hide-and-seek. Just be careful you don't get caught in the middle of a game of "Kagome"! If you do, you'll really be stuck until you guess someone's name.

In Summary:
- Get all the information you can handle
- Veteran new gods and shinki are welcome to volunteer showing the ropes
- Get in some training
- Enjoy a traditional tea
- Spectate if you want
- Have fun~
II. Flying Solo

But, at length, he pushes the matter of this unidentified floating object aside to ask a pertinent question]
Are you okay?
no subject
Yeah... I just saw you jumping like that and...
[She stands back up off the cloud, trying to be careful how she phrases this.]
I can't help but notice your outfit. Another friend of mine doesn't like showing his face either, but it's only a hat... are you shy?
[Not wanting to admit she recognizes the look since, she recalls in a flash the connections going from Axel to Roxas to herself and her own world, that could hurt him if he's not a god.]
no subject
[Roxas looks down at himself, like such a survey will yield the answer to her question. Of course, it doesn't tell him any more than what he already knew. He's dressed head to toe in black and comfortable this way]
I don't know if I am or not.
[Does dressing this way say something like that about a person?]
no subject
Oh - of course not... if you're a shinki like me, that is.
[ She steps a little bit closer, trying to offer her hand to shake with him. ]
I'm Kairi - shinki for Neith. I've been here about five months now, so I know all about trying to find yourself.
[ She tries to smile for him, silently inviting him to make friends. ]
no subject
This would be his first offer of such a gesture. Nailing it]
Find...but I'm right here.
[But now that he knows her name, that reminds him—]
Someone here told me I should ask a girl named Kairi for advice.
no subject
[ She jerks a thumb at her own chest. ]
That's me! I'm helping with the New Shinki pamphlets now! Plus, while it's nice that some of the gods want to help shinki out, we've had some experiences in the past that proved gods just don't understand what we're going through all the time.
So we shinki are trying to stick together, you know?
[ He didn't give his name back, but she figures she can ask soon enough. ]
no subject
[But if their experiences are usually very different, he can easily imagine why that would be difficult. That god he had spoken to before suggested asking Kairi due to her experience, and here they are]
But I can't seem to draw a boundary. Every time I try, I do something else.
no subject
Aww, don't worry about it - you'll get it eventually! But if you want help practicing, I can show you the three different forms. One of them might come easier to you than the others?
[She shrugs at that.]
It's all the same spell, just different uses - and for some people it's easier to think of them as completely different.
no subject
[Roxas wonders if he was supposed to know that. Maybe he was, and he's even further behind on all of this than he originally thought. The idea that he might not be useful at all grasps at him again, but he dutifully pushes it aside.
He was sent to ask her for information, and she is providing it. So all that remains is to focus on that]
If you think it'll help, I'll try it.
no subject
[She holds up her hand in the proper 'halberd' position for any sort of Borderline spell.]
Want me to show you?
no subject
If Kairi can use all of those techniques, she must really be a useful shinki]
If it's okay. You're the only one who's mentioned other ways of doing it.
1/2
Anyway, let's see - first, this is the hand position you need for all three of them. The oldest shinki call it a halberd position, but I think that only works if you know what a halberd is - it's a kind of spear, long and straight. So you hold your hand like this, and then you say 'Borderline' or at least 'Line' to activate the spell.
2/2
[She slashes her hand down, then moves it from left to right. A bright line of color appears on the ground, and from there the half-see-through wall rises upwards.]
Not too hard after all, right?
[She has to be encouraging - it's her nature - even if a lot of shinki don't get it right the first time.]
no subject
[Although Roxas doesn't sound at all convinced that it's as easy as she makes it look. He knows from personal experience that while it appears straightforward, so far he's managed to conjure a variety of elements and even a weird weapon in place of the actual intended result]
But I've been getting...strange results.
[That's the simplest way he can think of to phrase it, at least]
no subject
[ She doesn't often echo what someone says like that, but that's a combination of words she hasn't heard thus far as it pertains to shinki abilities. ]
Well... if you can show me, if it's not too dangerous for you, maybe I can ask around to some of my other friends about it as well? Otherwise you could just describe it too.
[ Here she is assuming he wants answers; to her it was implied with his tone, even if it wasn't a question. She was just the helpful sort like that. ]
no subject
[Roxas hesitates, but then, Kairi is trying to help. If more information will make it easier, then it's better than taking up her time and providing less than he is capable of.
So he turns, gesturing toward open air where no one stands. He attempts, as he has many times before, to draw a borderline.
Instead, a jolt of electricity bounds through the air]
...Like that.
no subject
[ She puts her hand to her chin in thought. It reminds her immediately of Izumo, who was able to produce flames that he laced alongside his borderlines. It made him very powerful, in fact, so far as she could tell. On the other hand, if he was from Izumo's world, it wouldn't do to suggest that he had the same sort of powers, not until he remembered a few things on his own. ]
I see what you mean, at least.
[ She pulls her hand away and looks into his dark hood. ]
A guy I know might be able to help you learn to control it more than I can. The only problem is that he's not a shinki... [ Anymore. ] But trust me, he'd understand. He's a friend of mine. His name is Izumo. You can contact him on the phone or find him at his bar - the Double Cross.
no subject
[Roxas doesn't know whether these abilities or the ones he's supposed to wield as a shinki are more important, so he can only defer to experience. Whatever makes him the most useful is surely what he ought to pursue.
So he thinks]
no subject
Here he is - Izumo Kusanagi. If you want, I can introduce you both, or at least tell him I suggested you contact him.
[ She shrugs a little, but is still trying to smile. ]
It couldn't hurt, right?
[ The worst that could happen, she figures, is that Izumo can't actually help him, but maybe they could become friends. ]
no subject
What's less intuitive is taking his own phone out. It doesn't even occur to him]
...If you think it's a good idea. Add said we're partners, so I don't want to let him down.
[He doesn't want to be useless, rather]
no subject
[ Not well but she knows he was a shinki who came back as a god. ]
I don't mind practicing with you either. I think it's great that you don't want to let your god down! What name should I give to Izumo when he asks who's going to contact him?
[ Since... shinki and all. She wants to let him have a choice what name she gives. Some people have really taken to their vessel name or god name, after all. ]
no subject
[And in that case, he's doing what he ought to do. So he thinks, at least, though he doesn't know much about how everything works just yet]
My name's Roxas.
[Which does and doesn't feel right, in a way he can't quite understand, much like the sight of his own face]
lmao I genuinely wasn't sure he'd tell her
But he's a shinki. So she does know better than to keep talking about anything significant now. The mere fact that he's got the outfit buttoned up so tight strikes her as odd, and something that she's sure he won't be able to explain either. Because again, shinki. ]
That's an interesting name. There's not many of us with only one name that we can remember.
[ She fidgets a bit, scrolling until she can find his name in the listing of phones that can be contacted through the Far Shore's phones. Sure enough, there's a Roxas. ]
And you're right - that's how partners work. Maybe one day our gods will even team up on a prayer and we can be partners of a sort too.
[ That's how she tries to transition it and force a smile. Because right now she needs to leave for fear of saying more. The magic, for one thing, makes a lot more sense now. ]
monad's system always called him roxas, and he was the only kh...so he's always gone by the name
[He thinks. He's pretty sure, although it didn't occur to him to ask if people had more than one name. Other than vessel names, anyway. Surely that isn't what she's referring to, or she would have called it that]
But if gods do that, I guess they might.
[He has no idea whether Add tends to work with other gods or not]
Makes sense
