March Training

Who: Everyone
What: Information and Training
When: October 25th
Where: Outside the Meeting Hall, the Far Shore
Summary: Training and informational sessions for newly arrived gods and shinki

Gods and shinki arriving at heaven's meeting hall are, should they allow it, guided to the Meeting Hall, where a traditionally styled dojo and training ground have been made available for the day. The gods and shinki are free to take their time during this day to learn about the details of their new life from Amaterasu's shinki or from the many veteran new god and shinki volunteers.

God Training

Newly arrived gods are escorted into what looks like an old, large warehouse behind the Meeting Hall for an informational meeting covering the basics of proper god behavior. Several chairs have been moved in, but they're squeezed together between packed shelves and boxes of old ritual clothing, scrolls and rusty or chipped household goods. A minor deity is giving the speech, and none of the white-robed shinki enter. They are encouraged to discuss the information with each other and ask questions of more experienced gods, as well as instructed to guide their new shinki appropriately.

Shinki Training

Various shinki in the white-and-gold of Amaterasu's hosuehold are stationed around the dojo, passing out helpful informational pamphlets. They will be happy to instruct the newcomers in the use of the borderline as well as offering an explanation of what is expected of a shinki and the importance of teamwork with other shinki and with gods. Shinki are encouraged to work together to practice what they've learned and discuss their perspectives.

Back copies of the "From Ama" magazine, including puff pieces about new or rising gods or successful shinki, advice columns for resolving problems between gods and shinki, temple photographs and other articles of interest to gods and shinki, have been brought out in boxes and piled up next to a table holding a few remaining copies of the shinki questionnaire for any new shinki who want to keep one around until they can answer the included questions.

      What is your name?

      What is your god's name?

How do you see your duties as a shinki?

What is your favorite part of life with your god?

What is your least favorite part of life with your god?

What advice would you like to give your god?

Do you wish to be assigned to a different god? []Y []N

Physical Training

The dojo is stocked with a wide variety of practice weapons, traditional and modern, to offer some practice opportunity to gods who, for example, find themselves with a sword shinki but are at risk of cutting off their own toes. It's also useful for veteran new gods wishing to train with their current partner shinki. Several magically animated straw-stuffed training dummies, many of which have been carefully mended and patched with neat black stitching, are set up on the lawn with a white-robed shinki hovering nearby to watch over them. They make good training partners, although anyone who comes too close risks being targeted for a sparring match whether they wanted one or not.

The white-robed shinki are still busy cleaning and preparing the Meeting Hall for the big annual meeting of the gods. They'll recruit anyone who looks as though they're not too busy in order to help scrub floors, weed, sweep paths and walkways, and shoo away any unwelcome little spirits that are hiding away in dark corners of the hall. Heavy lifting is good exercise... right?

Rest and Refreshments

There are casks of fresh, cold water near the dojo to make sure no one gets dehydrated, but for those who've finished working, hot tea and enough seasonal treats are available to make it look as though the Heavens bought out an entire sweet shop. They're being distributed by a few shinki in indigo-blue and plain brown robes with the sleeves tied back, who aren't above teasing the newcomers a bit.

Young shinki are playing in the nicely manicured garden, trying to catch crayfish at the lake edge, dashing around playing tag and hide-and-seek. Just be careful you don't get caught in the middle of a game of "Kagome"! If you do, you'll really be stuck until you guess someone's name.

In Summary:
  • Get all the information you can handle
  • Veteran new gods and shinki are welcome to volunteer showing the ropes
  • Get in some training
  • Enjoy a traditional tea
  • Spectate if you want
  • Have fun~

Oh [He looked at the pamphlet and nodded. It did seem geared towards Shinki in the information it provided.

He listened as the boy spoke at him, it was a lot of information but that was a good thing. The more things that Suzaku knew the better, he would be able to do his job better if he knew more about it and about this place. About anything.

Every shinki had a god, that was good to hear. Not that he was worried. He was sure his god would find him eventually. Clearly it took a little while which was why they encouraged them to wait here at this meeting house. Suzaku could imagine that if people wandered off it would be chaos.

There was a home for godless Shinki. Disappearing gods was something the pamphlet had mentioned as well]
Does that happen a lot? Gods disappearing?

[Sometimes shinki were soulless? That sounded strange.]

[Adrien considered the question.]

It's only happened to three people I know but if your first god vanishes you can be matched or assigned to another so you really don't need to worry too much and I think maybe two of them had the same good so...

If that does happened people at the Homeless Shinki Center will help you or you can find a new god on your own. You could even ask one to let you stay until you get reassigned or find someone new.

[He smiled.]

It may sound scary but it's really not too bad.
swordofzero: (surprise)

[personal profile] swordofzero 2018-03-21 07:03 am (UTC)(link)
[He says it so casually, like it is nothing to worry about. But if there was a center for homeless shinki it probably meant it was quite common.

He isn't sure how to feel about that, he hasn't even met his god yet. But if they were someone he was meant to protect, then surely them disappearing would mean he had failed them. He wasn't sure he would describe it as scary, he didn't know how to describe it. He didn't like the idea though.]

Where do they go?
purr_ince: (Adrien | Stuck in a cage with my doubt)

[personal profile] purr_ince 2018-03-21 07:12 am (UTC)(link)
I know that look.

[Adrien frowns a bit before sighing.]

It's not a shinki's fault if their god vanishes. It's just whatever brought them here likely sent them back where they came from. It's not something that we can control - neither can they. It's upsetting and frightening but it's nothing in our hands - kind of like arriving here in the first place.

[The blond rubs at his shoulder.] No one really knows but hopefully back home to their normal lives before they came to the heavens.
swordofzero: (moresadface)

[personal profile] swordofzero 2018-03-21 07:53 am (UTC)(link)
Whatever brought them here... [So gods were not in control. They were brought here and sent away back to their normal lives. Did they remember being gods? What a strange thing to happen.]

Do shinki disappear as well?
purr_ince: (Adrien | Uh.. I guess?)

[personal profile] purr_ince 2018-03-21 08:00 am (UTC)(link)
Yes. Most of the new gods are pulled from different places. Same for shinki. No one seems to know how or why.

[Adrien nods.] I assume so? I haven't known any to disappear though but if a god can I'm sure a shinki can.
swordofzero: (determiny)

[personal profile] swordofzero 2018-03-21 08:09 am (UTC)(link)
That's strange. Surely someone knows. [So shinki perhaps disappeared too. He noted that.]

Have you been here a long time?
purr_ince: (Adrien | I'm listening)

[personal profile] purr_ince 2018-03-21 08:13 am (UTC)(link)
If they do no one is telling. There are theories but no solid answers.

[There's a shake of his head.] I've been here a month at most I think.
swordofzero: (pic#732312)

[personal profile] swordofzero 2018-03-21 03:28 pm (UTC)(link)
[No solid answers. Suzaku nodded. A month. That wasn't a lot of time, but then again Suzaku's memories spanned three whole hours. Compared to that a month was forever.]

What's it like? [The leaflet has a lot of information on it but still. Once his god finds him Suzaku has to go out into the world with them and he has no idea what to expect, what the world is like. The only place he has ever seen is this meeting hall and garden. The more information he has the better job he can do.]
purr_ince: (Adrien | So you're saying that...)

[personal profile] purr_ince 2018-03-21 10:54 pm (UTC)(link)
It's... interesting.

[His brows drew together.] Not having a memory is a pain but it's nice to have a purpose even if you have nothing else. The longer you're here, the more you train to fight ayakashi the better for you and your good and whoever you protecting.

It's not so bad really. I mean it's only been a month so I haven't experienced much? Everyone seems very nice. Most people I've met have been very helpful.
swordofzero: (I'm not crazy ALL the time)

[personal profile] swordofzero 2018-03-22 07:13 am (UTC)(link)
[It's nice to have a purpose even if you have nothing else. That resonated in Suzaku. He nodded. It was... incredibly odd this feeling of not knowing who he was outside of the smattering of information he had learned in the last few hours. But protecting people was important and if he could do that through serving his god then it would be alright he thought.]

Everyone has been very helpful, it's kind of those who have been here a while to take the time to help those who are new. [Practical as well, after all the quicker people adjusted the better for everyone]
purr_ince: (Adrien | I'm listening)

[personal profile] purr_ince 2018-03-22 05:39 pm (UTC)(link)
[Adrien just shrugs.]

It's the best way to do things honestly. It doesn't benefit anyone if people are left floundering. Especially, if something happens and we all need to work together.

[Then the blond smiles.]

Besides, we've all been new and that kind of thing is terrifying enough on its own. No point in making that even worse for someone.
swordofzero: (moresadface)

[personal profile] swordofzero 2018-03-22 10:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes making sure everyone knows what they are doing is for the best. [Especially if people were arriving and disappearing all the time. It would be quite chaotic in an emergency.

Terrifying? Suzaku thought about that. It wasn't. He didn't think. He felt a bit lost. But not frightened. He could deal with whatever happened.]
purr_ince: (Adrien | Stuck in a cage with my doubt)

[personal profile] purr_ince 2018-03-26 03:00 am (UTC)(link)
That's why they have these days and the lectures for Shinki and Gods.

[He's gesturing over to the training area and the dummies.]

It's better than nothing at least. [He nods.] There's also the school for any of your other learning needs. I'm not entirely sure what classes are there but I've heard it's useful.

I guess it's just a little scary being thrown into something new so suddenly with so little information. It's kind of learn by trail and error thing for the rest of it.
swordofzero: (determiny)

[personal profile] swordofzero 2018-03-27 12:19 pm (UTC)(link)
A school? [He nods, the more he could learn about everything the better.]

I am sure I will understand it better soon. I have learned a lot already.
purr_ince: (Adrien | You got this.)

[personal profile] purr_ince 2018-03-28 10:12 pm (UTC)(link)
I haven't been to it just yet but I've been assured that you can learn lots of things there.

[He smiled gently.] I'm sure you'll do just fine. You've got the right mindset at least.
swordofzero: (polite and friendly)

[personal profile] swordofzero 2018-03-29 09:46 am (UTC)(link)
Thank you. [He smiled again] I hope you are right.

[He looks around at all the people again] Are you here to train as well? [He wasn't new, but it seemed there were many people who were not new who were here today. For training he was guessing, or to help clean as the shinki who wore white robes seemed to be dragging everyone they could into help with that]
purr_ince: (Adrien | Come and find me)

[personal profile] purr_ince 2018-03-30 06:44 pm (UTC)(link)
You're welcome. Well, Kairi hasn't steered me wrong before.

[Adrien nods.] That and my goddess likes to come see if she can learn anything else about being here - so on and so forth. Gods always have a chance of getting an additional shinki from time to time - it would do well for that to happen and her not be here..
swordofzero: (happy and with friends)

[personal profile] swordofzero 2018-04-03 08:58 pm (UTC)(link)
I met Kairi, she showed me different types of borderlines. [That explained why he had met a few gods who had been here a while as well, if they sometimes got given extra shinki.]

Who decides which god gets which shinki?
purr_ince: (Adrien | Uh.. I guess?)

[personal profile] purr_ince 2018-04-11 04:11 am (UTC)(link)
Oh good. She's great at that. She showed me how to do it when I first got here.

[Adrien gives a little shrug of his shoulders.] I honestly couldn't say. The original gods that are from here more than likely. I've never actually thought about it.
swordofzero: (determiny)

[personal profile] swordofzero 2018-04-12 08:42 am (UTC)(link)
She is a good teacher. [He nodded] It sounds like it is a big job if people arrive and disappear all the time.
purr_ince: (Adrien | I'm listening)

[personal profile] purr_ince 2018-04-12 06:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Kairi really is. [Adrien smiles.] Yeah, I don't think she's the only one that does it and I don't think she always does it one on one either? But you're right. It is a lot of responsibility.
swordofzero: (I'm not crazy ALL the time)

[personal profile] swordofzero 2018-04-12 09:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh I meant pairing people. But you're right helping people learn things is a big responsibility as well.

[He was glad that Kairi had came to help him, it was good of her to teach people what she knew]
purr_ince: (Adrien | The more you know)

[personal profile] purr_ince 2018-04-12 09:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah, well I'm not sure how that is worked out exactly. It could be as simple as pulling names from a hat or as complicated as some kind of magical ritual or something. But there are more than a handful of old gods doing it and likely with the help of their Shinki.

[He shrugs.] Of course that's all speculation at this point.
swordofzero: (determiny)

[personal profile] swordofzero 2018-04-13 08:41 am (UTC)(link)
[Suzaku nodded] I guess it makes sense there will be a group of people doing it.

[And no one seemed to know anything for sure]
