Summary: Training and informational sessions for newly arrived gods and shinki



Gods and shinki arriving at heaven's meeting hall are, should they allow it, guided to the Meeting Hall, where a traditionally styled dojo and training ground have been made available for the day. The gods and shinki are free to take their time during this day to learn about the details of their new life from Amaterasu's shinki or from the many veteran new god and shinki volunteers.




God Training

Newly arrived gods are escorted into what looks like an old, large warehouse behind the Meeting Hall for an informational meeting covering the basics of proper god behavior. Several chairs have been moved in, but they're squeezed together between packed shelves and boxes of old ritual clothing, scrolls and rusty or chipped household goods. A minor deity is giving the speech, and none of the white-robed shinki enter. They are encouraged to discuss the information with each other and ask questions of more experienced gods, as well as instructed to guide their new shinki appropriately.

Shinki Training

Various shinki in the white-and-gold of Amaterasu's hosuehold are stationed around the dojo, passing out helpful informational pamphlets. They will be happy to instruct the newcomers in the use of the borderline as well as offering an explanation of what is expected of a shinki and the importance of teamwork with other shinki and with gods. Shinki are encouraged to work together to practice what they've learned and discuss their perspectives.

Back copies of the "From Ama" magazine, including puff pieces about new or rising gods or successful shinki, advice columns for resolving problems between gods and shinki, temple photographs and other articles of interest to gods and shinki, have been brought out in boxes and piled up next to a table holding a few remaining copies of the shinki questionnaire for any new shinki who want to keep one around until they can answer the included questions.

Physical Training

The dojo is stocked with a wide variety of practice weapons, traditional and modern, to offer some practice opportunity to gods who, for example, find themselves with a sword shinki but are at risk of cutting off their own toes. It's also useful for veteran new gods wishing to train with their current partner shinki. Several magically animated straw-stuffed training dummies, many of which have been carefully mended and patched with neat black stitching, are set up on the lawn with a white-robed shinki hovering nearby to watch over them. They make good training partners, although anyone who comes too close risks being targeted for a sparring match whether they wanted one or not.

The white-robed shinki are still busy cleaning and preparing the Meeting Hall for the big annual meeting of the gods. They'll recruit anyone who looks as though they're not too busy in order to help scrub floors, weed, sweep paths and walkways, and shoo away any unwelcome little spirits that are hiding away in dark corners of the hall. Heavy lifting is good exercise... right?

Rest and Refreshments

There are casks of fresh, cold water near the dojo to make sure no one gets dehydrated, but for those who've finished working, hot tea and enough seasonal treats are available to make it look as though the Heavens bought out an entire sweet shop. They're being distributed by a few shinki in indigo-blue and plain brown robes with the sleeves tied back, who aren't above teasing the newcomers a bit.

Young shinki are playing in the nicely manicured garden, trying to catch crayfish at the lake edge, dashing around playing tag and hide-and-seek. Just be careful you don't get caught in the middle of a game of "Kagome"! If you do, you'll really be stuck until you guess someone's name.

And then he went and changed appearances and her eyes go wide, mouth dropping open as she stares at him in awe. ]

[Then he's leaning toward her with a smiling mischievously.]

And I'm not the only one either. I have a partner here. If you like I can arrange for you to meet her. She's very pretty and very brave. If you think I'm neat, she's really something.

We have two superheroes? [ She blinks up at him in hushed awe. ] Whoa! That's so cool!

[ You officially have a fangirl, sir. ]

He's going to carry her around and things. Wait til she finds out he purrs.

Yep. She's about this tall. [He gestures.] Has pigtails, very pretty blue eyes and a red suit. Her name is Ladybug.

[He's officially adopting this child. Technically, he's too young to have children but he can have a not-sister-little-sister right? No? Well he's gonna anyway.]

I'll have to introduce you to her soon. She'd think you were the cutest little thing.

Ladybug's such a pretty name! Does she have superpowers? Is that why she's called Ladybug? What about you?

[ Sorry, she asks a lot of questions when she gets excited. ]

[Oh gosh, Best make himself comfy then. Just have a leather clad catboy settling himself on the ground to peer up at the little girl.]

It is yes. She certainly does. Though I don't know for sure what all they are exactly.

[Chat's trying figure out how to explain it.] She has a magic yo-yo she can fight with or swing from place to place. She's called Ladybug because she wears a red suit with black polka-dots on it - like a ladybug.

[His tail gave a little twitch.] I can make things break, rust or turn to ash. Like - like say if some mean person locked you in a room and you couldn't get out but you really needed to? I could get rid of the door for you!

A magic yo-yo? [ Her mouth drops open at this for a moment before her expression brightens. ] Oh! Like Chikusa! He has one of those!

[ Nanako, no. She's probably not at all like Chikusa.

Although when he sits down in front of her, she's quick to do the same, settling down with him and grinning brightly as she gets comfortable to listen. ]

Whoa! That's a really useful power! Being locked in places can be scary... [ There's a flicker of a shadow in her gaze for a moment before she shakes it off again. ] So you turn into a scarf when she calls your name?

Mhm! Well, I don't know about that. At least not exactly. It does some special stuff I don't think Chikusa's is like My Lady's when it comes to what it can do..

[He smiled gently just watching her. But seeing her expression shift - that darkness cloud over everything for an instant is worrying.Chat is sitting up a bit straighter mind made up. He's holding out a gloved hand.]

Here - Give me your phone. [He's planning on changing his contact information and Marinette's to mark them so that Nanako will know who they are and to call/text if she needs them.]

I do. Well I do when I'm not like this. She's never called my Shinki name when I was transformed.

[ Nanako looks a little surprised by the request, but she does dig her phone out of her bag and offer it to him with a curious look, listening to his explanation. ]

Does it make a difference when you're transformed, do you think?

This way if you're ever in trouble you can reach me and My Lady easy, okay? If you get lost or scared or stuck.. if you need help - you call or text us and we'll come. Promise.

[Chat smiles and takes the phone and he's picking out Marinette's name from the list and adding a couple little icons in front of her name and tacking on Ladybug to it just in case. Then he's doing the same for his own. Then he's handing it back with a grin.]

I don't know. I haven't met anyone else who transforms other than My Lady and a few of the newer people.

[ She takes the phone back with a surprised look, glancing down at the new entries in her contacts before glancing up at him again. ]

Are you sure? But what if you are busy or something? Shouldn't you check with your god first?

[ Which.... might be a strange thing for a child to worry about, but Nanako thinks about some strange things sometimes.

She does hum at his comment though, trying to think if she knows anyone who transforms, too. ]

Hmm. I don't know if I know anyone either. I mean, Goten goes all glowy, but I don't know if that's the same thing...

[purr_ince]

I'm sure. Even if we are busy one of us will come. If it can't be right then and there it'll be at the earliest chance we have.

[There's a pause at her question then a shake of his head. He knows Marinette well enough to know that this is something she herself would have done; would have said.]

Marinette would likely make the same offer. Heck, knowing her she'd give you a room at the temple if you needed it. Trust me, this is nothing I'd get in trouble for.

[He smiles at her happily. She's a sweet girl. Apparently, he has a fondness for pig-tailed girls.]

It's sweet of you to worry though. If you want I'll let you ask her in person? As for my vessel form changing I can always just try it and see I'm sure.
