Summary: There are too many teachers sick and the Far Shore residents need to help fill in!



For some reason or another, many teachers have gotten sick just as the new school year is starting! In a panic, the school is seeking out every substitute teacher they can find, which is still not enough, and so the gods have to step in as reinforcements. And the Heavens are insisting on Far Shore residents helping strictly because this sickness seems so darn suspicious.

So anyone who looks old enough is being asked to step in as a substitute teacher and anyone who looks young enough is being asked to blend in as a new student, all to help the school and find out what exactly is causing this mysterious illness plaguing only the teachers of this school. There are many subjects open to teach and all Far Shore residents are expected to act as if they properly belong in this school while conducting their investigation. That means you'll have to teach properly or attend classes, depending on which role you've taken on.

Some gods might even find it useful to try and get information out of students by possessing one of their own, therefore guaranteeing the trust of the others around them. It's all up to you how you choose to investigate!

Newcomers will find the following note in their pockets as they are transferred to the school:

Greetings and apologies for the strange introduction.

I am sure you have many questions and concerns, but you have appeared at a very inconvenient time. Please attempt to help us, if you can, and we will reward you to the best of our abilities.

If you have any questions, you can seek out the counselor. Too many students underestimate what a good counselling session can do towards helping to alleviate their fears and uncertainties.

Classes

Being a big school, there are dozens of different subjects available. As teachers, you can practically teach anything you would like to, and as students you are facing a constant stream of completely different kinds of information. Maybe the school needs to tone it down a bit on how many different subjects they offer...

Hallways

The hallways are always a great place to mingle and get to know the other students in the school. You'll see all sorts in the hallways, ranging from the beautiful girls being followed by their fanboys all the way to the delinquents who are promptly making their way away from the classrooms for the rest of the day. Hopefully somebody around here will be able to give you a heads up as to what's going on.

Lunch

Lunchtime is the easiest time to gather gossip and information. Whether you are staying in the classroom with a bento or heading to the cafeteria to wrestle for some bread or spending your lunch in the faculty room with the rest of the not-sick teachers, you will find that both the students and the faculty are more prone to chatting during lunch. And a lot of them talk about a curse laid on the school because of the late principal...

Counselling

Surprisingly enough, there is a white-robed shinki in the counselling office of the school, and the golden chrysanthemum of Amaterasu can be found on her tunic as well as on the door to her small personal office. Oddly, all of the other students and faculty keep passing the door by, but the counselling shinki simply continues to smile gently all the same.

FINAL BOSS

Turns out there is something causing the illness in the teachers, and it's an exceedingly large ayakashi, one so large that no single god could possibly take it down. You'll have to all work together to weaken it enough for the rending to work on it.

The battle for the FINAL BOSS will be posted on the OOC date of July 17, all threads involving destroying him should go there when it is posted. All other events leading up to the FINAL BOSS battle should slowly build to figuring out that an ayakashi is at work.

[Right, this is some sort of investigation. He's still bothered over the vague note.] It's nice to meet you, Omi. My name is Jae-Ha. I've only just arrived. Am I right in guessing that you've been here longer?

Yeah... Not by much, though. I got brought in ten days ago. It's nice to meet you too, Jae-Ha. I don't think you asked anything wrong... I was just surprised.

[The man must be pretty sharp to have picked up on his being a longer recruit than today so fast.]

It's pretty... upending, when it happens. Were you assigned as a god or a shinki?

[razzledazzles]

[After meeting a handful of people here by now, he's realizing it's a little pointless to bother hiding that he's a shinki to those in similar positions.]

Shinki, it seems. Ten days... [There are a good amount of them here, too, from what he's heard. How long has this been going on for...?] What about you?

[oneblackcat]

[No memories, then.]

God. Over the moon... This must be pretty disorienting for you, huh?

[razzledazzles]

Well, yes. I can't remember a thing and the explanations I've been given barely help with that. It seems I'm meant to just go along with what's expected without questioning too much, but that's not in my nature.

[oneblackcat]

[Omi smiles.]

It's not really in mine either. I've been doing some investigating about the heavens since I found myself here. I'll tell you what I know.

[razzledazzles]

I'd appreciate it, thank you. Though I don't have the money to buy you a drink.

[oneblackcat]

That's okay... I'm not old enough to drink anyway.

Let's go find someplace less crowded... Follow me.

[Omi looks around and weaves down the hallway to a smaller corridor leading to some administrative offices. The dull roar of conversation remains just outside, but it's easier to hear one another in there... more elbow room too.]

[razzledazzles]

Old enough...?

[What do you mean you can't just pass alcohol out to any teenager?? Well, Jae-Ha will just quietly wonder as he follows this stranger down the hallway and around any corners.]

I'm all ears.

[oneblackcat]

You meant alcohol, right?

[He'll get to the juicy stuff in just a minute...]

[razzledazzles]

Of course. [The good stuff!!]

[oneblackcat]

Technically, there's a law that only people 20 and older can have it. Most people don't listen, though. It's not enforced very well...

[And if he were to be honest, it wouldn't stop him either. He's just not really interested in drinking. And it's good for people to be aware the law exists either way.]

[razzledazzles]

How strange that I know alcohol but I don't remember this limit. [Being a shinki is a hard life...]

Well, I wouldn't want to cause any trouble. So that aside, what did you have to say?

[oneblackcat]

[Omi nods to the prompt.]

It's strange that so many new god incarnations are appearing at once, right? The word is that something happened to the old ones, but no one knows what, or whether it's a threat to newer gods as well. There have also been some... strange events... that really don't seem like a product of chance to me.

[razzledazzles]

Strange events?

[This sounds more serious, so Jae-Ha lets his expression fall in line with that a bit more.] All of this is strange to me, I admit. So what events do you mean?

[oneblackcat]

I wasn't around for it, but several people have told me about an assignment from the ones in charge to hand out chocolates to people. The chocolates turned out to have ayakashi infused in them. They say they have no idea how it happened...

But it made a lot of gods and shinki sick, and several people died.

[razzledazzles]

So their provided chocolate was infused with something dangerous like that...? Is there any way that could have slipped their notice?

[He finds it hard to believe already, despite knowing next to nothing about all of this. Could anyone who calls themselves "in charge" be so ignorant?]

[oneblackcat]

That's what I wonder. That just doesn't seem like the kind of thing that would be...

[Accidental. And even if the ayakashi infused itself into those chocolates, it seems weird no one would have been aware it was there.]

They made a big production about making things up to the gods and shinki, but I heard they seemed unconcerned with all of the people who died.

[razzledazzles]

Do you worry that our appearances may be something more sinister than an accident?

[This person is telling him to be careful, and now he'll have this mindset that he should be wary of them at every turn. He would have been anyway, but this confirms a few worries he'd been wondering about.]

Whoever turns a blind eye to innocent souls dying... I can't agree with that.

[oneblackcat]

[Omi takes an instant liking to Jae-Ha for that statement about innocent deaths.]

I can't either. And it does seem awfully weird for so many of the original gods to be disappearing at once, don't you think?

[razzledazzles]

Yes... I thought the whole situation with these replacement gods appearing was strange. I could at least see how something must be happening that we don't know about.

[oneblackcat]

Yeah. Something is happening to the original gods to make them die en masse like this. And given the disregard for life the heavens have already shown, and that 'oversight' with the chocolates... it might be worth being a little careful around them.
