Who: Everyone! This is an open mingle log, so feel free to toplevel and thread between yourselves as much as possible.
When: October 27th
Where: Calico Cat Cafe, somewhere vague in Tokyo. An address was posted on the BBS a day prior.
What: Cat adoption day - come bring some (or a lot of) new friends home, take advantage of the no entry fee to spend a day hanging out with cats, or volunteer to help out the somewhat overloaded staff.

An adoption event needs no small venue, and Cat Cafe Calico provides that much, visible as soon as anyone walks in the front door, pane glass with a little bell to ensure no cats walk out undetected. The area is spacious and welcoming, warmly lit with smooth and modern decor, and of course, plenty of posts for the cats. The cafe area itself is on the lower floor, along with various stools, cushions and lounges for people to sit on and spend some time with the plentiful felines. Most of the adoption services have set up along one wall down here, but it's plenty easy to avoid them and just play around with the cats unless you intend to adopt. They've got plenty of waitstaff available, and the cafe is testing out some new and unusual styles and flavours of tea, coffee and milkshakes, as well as seasonal fruit based cakes and tarts. For those without as much of a sweet tooth, there's savoury snacks as well - or maybe you'd prefer to just buy some snacks for the cats, which is an option too.

Upstairs, there's also a video game area with plenty more seating and plenty more cats...though good luck getting them out of the way of the screens, or occasionally off the consoles themselves. Quite a few of the cats are lounging around by the large window, either between cushions or on an impressively-sized play frame, and some are even up near the roof on mounted walkways. There are no guarantees they won't drop onto the occasional passerby. The upstairs also houses a few enclosed areas for people to socialise with specific cats or groups of them to see which ones they get on with best.

Volunteers will be thanked profusely, and some of the staff may even approach visitors to ask if they might help, offering compensation of food and drink prices or similar. There's a lot of adoption paperwork to be done, and with the waitstaff run off their feet, there's few people left to supervise interactions between visitors and cats to make sure all's friendly. Of course, this is an excellent excuse to just surround oneself with any available cats and let others approach as they please.

There's a steady stream of kittens being let out into the mingling cats throughout the day, most of them kept to enclosed areas under staff supervision. Whenever more come out, it might be possible to catch some whispers from the waitstaff, as if surprised at something - listen closely enough, and it sounds like they're talking about an employee, one who they barely see and rarely talks, yet finishes work promptly and slips away before anyone notices except the cats, who all seem very comfortable around him...

Whatever the reason for being here, there's plenty of cats to go around, plenty of activity, and ample opportunity to take home a new friend! Or two. Or ten, if you can convince the staff you can handle it.

Seeing the look of horror on her face Adrien is reaching into the apron he has around his waist and taking out a sticky lint roller.]

Here. You're hopeless. I won't clean the fur off for you but this will save your precious clothes. If you knew you were going to be around cats you should have known not to dress so fancy.

Does the staff here typically lecture their guests?

[ She'll accept the lint roller, at least. And pause to look at it. Ando...has used these on her before. So. Think back to that...

When she does begin cleaning up the fur, it's with a perfectly haughty expression, as if she's always known how to do this and didn't just have to take five seconds to figure it out. ]

Likely not. But I'm not staff I'm just a simple volunteer giving my time to adorable kittens.

[The blond watches her biting back a laugh. This is priceless. Usually he wouldn't laugh at something like this but given how Hibiki has been when she's around him?

He's fairly certain he's earned at least this.]

If you didn't want to play with or adopt a kitten why'd you even come here?

[ Hibiki gives a calm, human answer, so absorbed is she in administering this lint roller. Like...this? And then, the back of her jacket... ]

Well, that makes a lot more sense. It's nice of you to come and be supportive.

[See? It's not so hard is it. Maybe she just needs to be mildly distracted to stay civil.]

My presence does guarantee a successful event, yes.

[ Hibiki has never said or done a nice thing in her life that she didn't immediately ruin.

This lint roller has accumulated a Mess. She holds it out. ] I'm finished. Reclaim this.

[purr_ince]

[And she's right back to that is she? Ah, goodbye fragile hope.]

I see. [He's just arching a brow.] Do you not know how to clean one of those? How to find a trash bin?

[He's taking it from her with a roll of his eyes.] Let me just make this clear. I'm not your servant I'm only doing this because you'd likely toss it over your shoulder and hit someone with it.

[ We both know it's her charisma. You're only disgruntled because you don't possess as much as she does.

Yes. You are tsundere for amore. ]

[You keep telling yourself that Hibiki. Deny your brattiness all you like but that won't change facts.

Hibiki was in the process of sniffing and turning away when she stops in her tracks. She is staring at a cat that is lying on its side, fast asleep with one leg stuck out. ]

[Adrien is just honestly perplexed and confused by her. He doesn't know what to make of her or if he ever will know what to make of her.

He pauses when he hears her exclamation. Green eyes sought out what she was looking at and a brow arched.]

Yes, Hibiki it's a cat. Stretching out its' legs. I don't understand why you're so excited.

The arc of its back! Those stellar, supple proportions......

[ Hibiki kneels to get a better look. Or, rather, she falls to her knees, overcome. To think she'd find actual quality here....! ] This cat is a rare breed.

[purr_ince]

[Really, Hibiki? Really? Just have Adrien rolling his eyes at her.]

So now that he's 'Special' and 'Rare' you're interested?

[Could she be any less obsessed with things like that? Yeah likely not.]

[priforprince]

Of course. Such beauty can only be appreciated by those equipped to fully contemplate it.

[ Hibiki props herself up one one knee, arms out. ] Now, come, mademoiselle. Scamper to me....

[ The cat looks right at Hibiki. And yawns. ]

[purr_ince]

I see.

[Then he's laughing softly.]

It doesn't seem that she agrees. Perhaps she doesn't see it that way..

She doesn't believe her good fortune.

[ Hibiki takes advantage of that eye contact to start sparkling at the cat. ] It's no lie, ma cherie. Place your paw in my hand.

[ Here is an offered, upturned palm. The cat lifts a paw....

.....licks said own paw vigorously, and begins grooming herself. So busy, so busy.

Hibiki wobbles slightly on her lone knee perch. ]

Uh huh..

[Adrien tries to stifle a laugh and hide a smug smile behind his hand. He'll manage to hide that smile but not stifle his laughter. Laughter that turns into a soft snort as bright green eyes close.

Oh brother, Hibiki this is some A+ entertainment right here. A really phenomenal show to be sure.]

I think she might just think as highly of herself as you think of yourself. You've finally met your match.

[ How dare you make it sound like that's a bad thing, furthermore!

Aaad back to the cat. ] Did you hear? We're perfect for each other. There's no need to resist.

[ The cat sticks up a leg in response. She stick her leggy all the way up.

And she groom her tum-tum. ]

I'm not saying she doesn't. She's a lovely cat.

[But he's not saying the same for Hibiki. She's a bit arrogant and Adrien doesn't really agree with that. The whole mind set she seems to have just rubs the blond the wrong way. A cat is a cat they don't have those kind of awarenesses that humans do.]

She still doesn't seem all that interested, Hibiki. Maybe if you tried playing with her or petting her she'd warm up to you.

[He's no so mean as to assume that no cat would like him or that Hibiki doesn't deserve a pet or companion. Even if he may not like her attitude most of the time he knows she would take good care of a pet should she take up that responsibility - least it reflect poorly on her.]

I'm well-acquainted with those who play hard to get.

[ Hibiki stands back up, looking down at the cat. Hm. How best to let the fickle lady's heart accept the feelings that she no doubt covers with her disdain? ]

Perhaps if I performed for her....

[ Pure ameowre love....? ]

I'm pretty sure cats don't play hard to get, Hibiki. Like I'm almost positive that is not a thing.

[Catboys maybe but actual factual cats? Nope.]

Purrty sure you're barking up the wrong tree. That is not how to win over a cat.

Then, what...?!

[ You'd mentioned a few things, but they seem like such paltry methods of ingratiation! And, anyway, there's no way a cat of this caliber could be attracted by anything that deviates from Hibiki's noble idiom!

Her thinking, however, is interrupted by one of the cafe workers coming over to Adrien. Hi, were you...were you helping today? Can you put some of this out?

The dry cat food box in the worker's hand rattles. And the cat's head swivels. Instantly. ]

[purr_ince]

Play with her? Feed her? Cuddles? Pets?

[He doesn't know how to make things more plan for you Hibiki. No seriously. What's he supposed to do to make her get it? He just doesn't know. Stubborn people only see what they want to apparently.

Hearing a voice he's turning and smiling. He's gently taking the box of cat food with a little nod.]

Absolutely. You can count on me.

[He's grinning at the cat giving the box another shake.]

Aw, are you hungry, pretty girl? Let's get you something good to eat, hm?

[And he's opening the box and pour a bit out into his hand before holding it out to Hibiki.]

Try giving her some of these. You're Welcome.
