Who: Felix and You!
When: October 27th
Where: Anywhere cat-free Far Shore in the morning, Near Shore in the afternoon.
What: Since an invitation to look at cats isn’t high on his list, Felix is going to use the day to get a feel for the area.



A. Western District; early morning

[Even as the sun is rising, Felix is jogging through the Western district, coat tied around his waist. He’s making a point of looking around at all of the different places that exist around him, but he never lets up on his pace.

Jogging along behind him is a soulless shinki, their feet hitting the ground out of rhythm as they move through the district. Periodically, Felix will take a sharp turn, never speeding up, even if he is testing the agility of the figure behind him. She keeps up effortlessly, of course.

The longer they spend jogging, the more focused he becomes, taking turns, doubling back, really seeing what his shadow is capable of. If he wasn’t so consistent with his speed, even checking himself once or twice so she stays with him, someone might even think he was trying to lose the poor woman…]

B. Central District and The Heavens; mid-morning and early afternoon

[Having successfully given his shinki the slip, for better or worse, Felix has made his way into fancier parts, though his coat is still tied around his waist and he looks a little grungy for the area. Unlike his calculating (if meandering) path from earlier, he’s now wandering around looking for the sake of looking, because some of these places are amazing.

It takes a few hours, but he eventually finds his way back to the meeting hall, though he is wary of spending too much time there, given the dangers of being press ganged into cleaning by the white-robed shinki that practically swarm the area (or so he claims to anyone who asks).

Before he heads home in the afternoon, Felix will lose himself for a little bit in the Sakura grove to the North of the meeting hall. While he does spend a bit of time appreciating the beauty, he spends more time practicing teleporting himself between the trees.]

C. The Near Shore - Tokyo; late afternoon and early evening

[It’s not dark, yet, but the day is winding down. Even if people aren’t supposed to be able to see him easily, Felix has no intention on taking the chance that he missed something important to make that happen. As crowds increase on the streets, with everyone getting out of work and heading either home or out to socialize, he’s feeling a little more comfortable slipping away into the mortal world.

Alone.

It’s not exactly that he hasn’t been told about the dangers, and not even that he thinks he’s going to be able to handle it better than anyone else has. But he doesn’t like being told not to do something, and besides, if this was what he was meant to be doing, putting it off isn’t going to make it better.

Besides, he’s never, ever been to Japan before, and after the all the stories he’s heard from his family back home, he’s not about to pass up a chance to see it for himself.]

[ Does the ghost have a ghost behind him that he's not aware of? Or did his cats grow wings and started follow him?

As for the way he moves and his general attitude, he's in control of his body and he's friendly. ]

It's nice to meet you too, Lucky. Just D2 is fine, you don't have to add the mister.

[ He's a ranked soldier but he's not Sergeant Adler here (or in America either, for about a year). Just using his alias, which he's more comfortable with than his real name right now, is just fine. ]

[This mini does a lot of things oddly, but it'll probably take weeks for him to stop scanning everyone for any sort of network he can link into. The thought that no one here has something so simple is just not clicking for the poor kid.]

Okay. Well. Just D2, then.

[His smile gets a little smaller, but doesn't go away. He glances at the souless shinki that was following him.]

Um. I don't know if she has a name, but I'm sure she's happy to meet you, too.

[ Oh he's not so small. He's about Wendy sized, perhaps. Though in comparison to D2's height that's pretty small.

He glances over at the female shinki, and then back at Lucky. ]

Since she's soulless, she wouldn't remember her name, so you'd have to give her a new one. It's the ones of us that do remember our names that are the unusual ones.

[He shifts and looks away from both of them for a minute. Without turning back, he speaks, voice softer than before.]

I haven't seen a lot of people around. Why're you out so early, Mis...um. D2?

[ Hm? ]

I guess most people who're even awake are not ready to go out yet.

[ He shrugs. Training is something he does a lot each day, partly to keep himself occupied because he can't do prayers or hunt ayakashi and such things that much. ]

I go out running every morning, around this time.

[Nodding to himself, Felix considers the statement for a moment.]

Yeah. Mom's the only one who usually beats me out bed. And she's crazy, I think. At least a little.

[Well, in his family, who isn't? Not that he'll say that out loud.]

Do you always run the same path? I've just started today. There's lots to see.

That so? How crazy would that be?

[ Don't kids generally think their parents are crazy...? Not that he remembers his own mom. ]

Generally, yeah, across most of the main parts of all districts. And there's definitely a lot to see, and it's nice to get a look at things while it's peaceful, too.

[He stops to consider the question. "Pretty" just doesn't feel like a good enough answer, and he promised his father not to swear, so there's a whole slew of other, perfectly good words he can't use, either.]

Um, oh! Okay, so. After she jumped on a live grenade and it blew her up, she signed on for a third tour anyway. I asked her why, and she said because she's a Marine. Oorah!

[He belts out the call and grins. His voice is a little young to get the punch quite right, but it's clear he's practiced this before.]

Today's my fist run. Is there anywhere really cool I should watch for?

[ Swearing to a soldier wouldn't exactly be a big deal. He may not swear a lot himself, but he's heard a thousand kinds of colorful curses. ....after she jumped on a live grenade and it blew her up...? People would normally not continue after something like that but-- ]

Seems like Marines can be pretty extreme sometimes, huh.

[ But D2 is--was Navy and Special Warfare. Plus he never wanted to quit even after being badly wounded. (He's heard that battle cry a lot in the past, how nostalgic.) ]

Hhhmmmm, well... That'd depend on what you think is cool, wouldn't it?

[iron59]

[Oh, he has a mouth to make a sailor blush...but he promised. And she may have signed on again, but the medical discharge pretty much took care of that issue.]

Yeah. But she's pretty awesome, too. I'm glad we found her.

[He crosses his arms and looks around. Well, there are all kinds of things that are cool, but he finds new things that are all the time. At least, when he tries. This place smacks with promise, and it's better than hiding in a strange building with strange people. Better to get a feel for what exactly is going on, and then he can make plans.]

Maybe. But there's all kinds of stuff I have never seen that I've passed already. So maybe just weird? Then I can decide later if it's cool!

[ D2 tilts his head in curiosity. ]

Found her?

[ Is she found family, rather than biological, or was she missing for some time?

But basically most things are fine, then... ]

Alright then. Lots of temples are really interesting and several of the gods won't mind if people have a look around. In this district, for example Eros' Castle, Toyotama's Open Sea, and Huitzilpochtli's are amazing in completely different ways.

[It's...complicated. Something of all of the above, really, but he's not about to go into those kind of details. He simply offers a little smile until D2 continues. He listens closely, repeating the names of the places to himself.]

Okay. Um. How would I get to them from here? This place is kind of confusing.

[ Okay, private matters, then. He knows a thing or two about those. ]

I have a map in my phone, if you want me to send you a copy of it. It's not my latest version but it's useful none the less.

[Private, yes, but it's not just his privacy to protect.]

That would be great! Then I can plan other routes, too. It's nice to see new things.

It is, yeah, definitely.

[ He fishes his phone out of his pocket, and does some button and screen pressing to open up his maps. ]

[He pulls his phone out, too, playing with it for a moment. He doesn't look very comfortable with it, but he doesn't ask for any help.]

I've been all over a few cities, but this place is nothing like them. It's cool. There was a forest back there, with buildings in it. I bet it gets creepy at night.

[ D2 would help, but if Lucky doesn't ask for it then he won't push; it's useful to learn to use the phone anyways. ]

It's true, it's a pretty different place. [ And that's coming from someone who's been to a large variety of countries with a lot of different sorts of cultures. ] It can get a little creepy in some places, yeah, but it's interesting, too.

[iron59]

[He seems thoroughly modern in speech and dress, if perhaps a little odd. It's odd that the phone seems to give him this much trouble.]

Creepy's okay. I think that makes it interesting. You get all wiggly inside and everything is in focus and all of that. It's kind of cool when it all happens on its own like that.

And these are all temples to Gods, then? Nobody but us lives here, I mean. Well, Gods and Shinki. Right?

It is something that can help to keep you on your toes at times, too.

[ You can't forget that there is some tension around, even if you never go face a lot of ayakashi. ]

That's right, though there are abandoned temples as well in various locations and temples sometimes move location. There is a temple where the soulless shinki stays, too.
