Wanderings [Open]
Who: Felix and You!
When: October 27th
Where:Anywhere cat-free Far Shore in the morning, Near Shore in the afternoon.
What: Since an invitation to look at cats isn’t high on his list, Felix is going to use the day to get a feel for the area.
A. Western District; early morning
[Even as the sun is rising, Felix is jogging through the Western district, coat tied around his waist. He’s making a point of looking around at all of the different places that exist around him, but he never lets up on his pace.
Jogging along behind him is a soulless shinki, their feet hitting the ground out of rhythm as they move through the district. Periodically, Felix will take a sharp turn, never speeding up, even if he is testing the agility of the figure behind him. She keeps up effortlessly, of course.
The longer they spend jogging, the more focused he becomes, taking turns, doubling back, really seeing what his shadow is capable of. If he wasn’t so consistent with his speed, even checking himself once or twice so she stays with him, someone might even think he was trying to lose the poor woman…]
B. Central District and The Heavens; mid-morning and early afternoon
[Having successfully given his shinki the slip, for better or worse, Felix has made his way into fancier parts, though his coat is still tied around his waist and he looks a little grungy for the area. Unlike his calculating (if meandering) path from earlier, he’s now wandering around looking for the sake of looking, because some of these places are amazing.
It takes a few hours, but he eventually finds his way back to the meeting hall, though he is wary of spending too much time there, given the dangers of being press ganged into cleaning by the white-robed shinki that practically swarm the area (or so he claims to anyone who asks).
Before he heads home in the afternoon, Felix will lose himself for a little bit in the Sakura grove to the North of the meeting hall. While he does spend a bit of time appreciating the beauty, he spends more time practicing teleporting himself between the trees.]
C. The Near Shore - Tokyo; late afternoon and early evening
[It’s not dark, yet, but the day is winding down. Even if people aren’t supposed to be able to see him easily, Felix has no intention on taking the chance that he missed something important to make that happen. As crowds increase on the streets, with everyone getting out of work and heading either home or out to socialize, he’s feeling a little more comfortable slipping away into the mortal world.
Alone.
It’s not exactly that he hasn’t been told about the dangers, and not even that he thinks he’s going to be able to handle it better than anyone else has. But he doesn’t like being told not to do something, and besides, if this was what he was meant to be doing, putting it off isn’t going to make it better.
Besides, he’s never, ever been to Japan before, and after the all the stories he’s heard from his family back home, he’s not about to pass up a chance to see it for himself.]

I wonder if it has notes and stuff.
[As quickly as it came on, the face passes, and he offers a lopsided grin.]
I was born in 2105. I wonder if they have any of my comics in there.
[He does read comics, mostly stuff borrowed from his father, and so a little older than him, but still well after the local time.]

[The corner of his mouth twitches a little at remembering that small fact. The cover up couldn't be any more obvious.]
Anyway.... You can look all you want. There's no telling when you'll find anything...

[He frowns a little, looking a bit confused. He may have spent the vast majority of his life at the center of one of the biggest secret projects ever covered up by anyone in his world, but he never had a reason to grasp the nature of how these things worked.]
So there's no system at all, you just look and look and hope you're lucky? Goblins sound terrible at libraries.

Why would a shinki lock a door? Probably because a god told them to. Probably dumb, but has anyone looked under the door? Can you look under the door? There's a trick with little mirrors if you can get it through a gap...
[He stops, biting his lip for a moment.]
Has anyone tagged a book and tracked how it moves to see if there's a pattern?

...It might not necessarily be because a god told them to. Shinki are still their own people.... So it could be for any reasons. I haven't had much luck looking underneath the door, however.... I think paper can barely get through.

[At least...well, he really, really hopes that they are. After a pause, though, he's back at the mystery, because that's better than getting mad at himself over something.]
What about optics? There's fibers that small, right? Well, maybe not. It's a hundred years ago.
Um, as far as tracking ,though. A little radio transmitter should be easy enough to find. Just put it in like a bookmark and follow the signal. Maybe tie something to the book, too, so you can spot it when you're close?

Well, I bet there's companies that are working on this stuff. I don't know how useful I'd be, though. My tech doesn't seem to mesh well with the local stuff. I might be able to link into a camera feed, but I'm not going to hold my breath.
Maybe we can hitch a ride on a tour group? But we don't have Lije to backfill a trail.
But, I mean, it's not like they notice we're around, right? That's what everyone says. As long as there's not mechanical traps like a pressure plate or something, we're golden. And as long as we see it, they're usually simple enough to break quietly. Then we just need to jimmy a couple of things open. Lifting a card should be cake, as long as we can find someone with access we want.
[Casual? Hell, he's got a whole damned system for shit like this, mate. For a ten year old, he's taking breaking and entering pretty seriously, too.]

So. I guess we should look up who works on stuff like this? Honestly, I don't know how they get all of the intel they get. They usually already know the place and where the stuff is, and then I just have to get in to get it out.
[Or to leave something for someone to pick up. Or get in to kill whoever is hiding there. The point is that he is better at the "get into a place" part than the "where is a place" part.]
