won't you take me
Who: The Li Tieguai clusterfuck
What: Well, we're out of a shitty haunted forest, who wants dinner?
When: November 16, evening
Where: Li Tieguai's Temple
Usually, when there's some big nonsense in Heaven, Chikusa can be found out cold or "away" in his own head for most of the following couple of days afterwards... but that apparently only counts for event which involve people. Spending an entire day trekking through a possessed forest filled with violent plant-life and cultists is manageable.... somehow.
No matter how exhausted or injured anyone in the temple is, food still has to be made, and Hakka is in no condition to make it. Thus, dinner is being arranged by the other cook in the house, and invitations have been sent out to the relevant people Chikusa thinks care- namely Nanako and Ayumu, along with anyone they seek to bring. That doesn't mean people checking in on the Li Tieguai temple can't just waltz right into the dinner as well....
There's a lot to do in the time leading up to dinner, after all, depending on when people show up (or, you know, realize there's smells coming from the kitchen). Bon, the resident enormous Tibetan Mastiff, demands attention in the form of bodily flinging himself at people. There's a goat in the garden, tied away from all the important medical herbs. At least four different nekomata wander in and out of the temple ground whenever they please, including Pookie, the most permanent resident, and never shut up.... Not to mention that a Kung-Fu movie has been put on the television for people to watch.
There's also a sign on all entrances to the kitchen that says: CHO HAKKAI IS NOT ALLOWED TO COOK. Presumably Chikusa put it up while making direct eye contact with him.
Either way, mess around until dinner, have dinner, crash in the living room where another kung-fu movie has been put on again... Have fun.
Oh, and before it can be forgotten.... The dinner menu for the night is fritto misto, meaty Amatriciana sauce with bucatini noodles, and all the garlic bread in the world apparently. For dessert? Cannoli again. That... might be all he knows how to make on the dessert front.

[Which was pretty tasty, she must admit. And it would be nice to bring something nice back for Lavi and Cardia as a 'thank you' for letting her stay.]

[He waggles it a little bit, allowing the sound of the popcorn to be heard. Oh, looks like Bon is interested- he twists his arm so that the dog can't snatch it up.]
But I can get more bread if you want...

[There's a flicker of pain in her expression as she says her goddess's name. Normally, she'd have more control but the loss was sudden, unexpected, and very recent. If there's one bright side to her current homelessness, it's that she doesn't have a room of her own to hide away in. She has to blink back a sudden film of tears. This isn't the time or place for her to start bawling like an inconsolable child. So she just buries her face in Bon's fur a moment as she tries to regain some self-control and composure.
There's an ugly splash of purple across the back of her neck but it's well-concealed underneath her hair and by the indigo colored scarf she's wearing.]
But, um, popcorn sounds good. I don't think I've tried it before.

...You didn't bring food. So something as off.
[At least, that's what he had figured. Even if he can't be good at people, Chikusa can pick up when the status quo has been disrupted. All he can offer in comfort, however, is food. Speaking of...]
At the movie theaters in the city... They let you buy popcorn with chocolate or caramel as well... Me and Ken tried them when we went out a couple weeks ago...

That sounds delicious. And I bet it's fun to watch things on a really big screen like that.
[Moving pictures are still a big novelty for her. She's slowly gotten used to them with repeated exposure and developed a growing fondness for them. Ayumu's yet to visit a movie theater though.]
no subject
Do you want to come...? I took Ken to see a kids movie since he wouldn't have the attention span for anything else... We could see some of the mystery movies or whatever...
no subject
[It might cheer her up a bit. Maybe. It'd be good to take her mind off things for a few hours. Ayumu munches her way through the popcorn in her hand before reaching for more.]
What kind of movies do you like, Chikusa-kun?
no subject
Mysteries? [He really doesn't sound sure.] There seem to be a lot of those around when I last checked...
no subject
[The cheesy romantic comedies she watched with Sanzang probably wouldn't appeal to a teenage boy and it's too soon for her to watch those without thinking of her lost goddess. But a mystery sounds like a safe subject - something to keep her mind preoccupied.]
Did any of them stick out to you?
no subject
I think.... there was a movie called 'Creepy'...?
no subject
[Don't tell her, Chikusa. She will drag you to every chick flick that catches her eye.]
no subject
Yeah, it's.... about a police officer who retired after messing up with a serial killer case. He tries to live a normal life, but, after moving, he thinks something strange is up with his neighbor.... and his old coworkers come to him asking for help on a case.
That kind of thing.... Apparently it has good twists in the story.
no subject
How fun. I'd like to see it.
[Some of the terms Chikusa's using are a little unfamiliar to her but she gets the gist easily enough. And the confict of trying to live a normal life certainly fees relatable to her somehow.
She's falls a bit silent, unsure of what else to say to carry on the conversation. Even on the best of days, she struggles with conversation and the day after losing her goddess is one of the worst she's experienced on the Far Shore.]

...Let me know when you want to go. And I'll... get the bread...
[They still have so much of it, after all.]
no subject
[Maybe once things calm down for her, after she's had more time to catch her breath and recover from everything that's been happening lately. Her time as a shinki has been full of many ups and downs; the sudden loss of Sanzang is just the most recent. But a trip to the theatre gives her something to look forward to.]
